We want our kids to have the best of everything such as the latest tech devices and toys. Not only that, we want to take them to theme parks, amusement parks, water parks, zoos, and the like. Now this is all good as kids need experiences and things to play with but let’s face it most families can’t afford to do all that. They have trouble keeping food on the table and a roof over their kids head so even thinking about keeping up with the joneses isn’t going to happen.
The good news is we don’t have to do all that for our kids to develop into happy, healthy adults. What they will need however is our love, attention, and support. They need us to be a part of their life not buy them a ton of things they’ll hardly play with or spend a lot of money taking them to expensive places. They need us to spend time with them, not a lot of toys and expensive experiences.
Activities such as going to the library or park, playing outside together, doing a puzzle together, or telling each other stories don’t cost a lot of money but are wonderful for kids. They create memories and help them develop various skills they will need as they grow up.
