There is a secret that no parenting book or teaching course will teach that is vital to not only understanding kids but getting them to listen to you every once in a while. Do you want to know what it is? It’s talking with them and having discussions with them. Now, this may seem difficult to do because there are young but it actually an important thing to do. It helps with cognitive thinking and can strengthen self-esteem. Discussions get children talking about their knowledge and expressing their feeling which is beneficial for cognitive thinking. When children feel involved or included in conversations they feel valued which makes them feel good. When children feel valued they are less likely to act out and more likely to listen. Discussions are not only great for this purpose but also but helps them develop communication skills.
Having discussions has benefits at both home and school. The benefits of having discussions in school are that teachers get a greater understanding of how their students think. It also allows teachers to see just how much the students are learning. Discussions are great at getting students working together. At home, discussions are great for opening the lines of communication between parents and their kids. It lets parents know how the child sees the world. These discussions help build a family bond.
