Ok, thanks again xinf for your detailed reply.

Do you know if someone has already explain the effect of each lines in Resource_Config.txt ?

I don't know if someone have already done that, but I can :

materials_file : text file related to the land materials : specifies which materials are used (config files : snow, ice, rock; and material map (TGA files)), and which files have to be read.

material_binary_map : Binary files to be used/created for the cache. Might be good to empty the line when creating a track. If the trouble of cached textures still happens, it's that the game still creates the in its root folder.

material_map_scale : size of a pixel (along the x, y and z axis) from the files above. If a pixel is "big", you'll probably see squares of textures on the ground, but have smaller tga files. Recommended to keep it to {1,1,0}

height_map_pixel_size : quite the same thing, but for the bump map (height_dela).

illegal_area_file : Links to the illegal_map file. As far as I know, pretty useless. Perhaps used to remove materials display on the ground : faster to process for older computer (for a game published in 1999!) It's the case near the tunnel of Alpine.

illegal_area_weight_threshold : Threshold for the illegal_map to apply its effect.

Following is for TGA files dealing with the elevation

profile_map_file : TGA profile of the whole track.

profile_map_range : Global slope of the TGA profile map : first value is for the height of the border near the start of the race. The second one is the elevation of the border near the finish.

height_map_file : TGA (without alpha channel!) height alteration to be applied to the profile map. FinalHeight=Profile+Delta.

height_map_range : the x and y values are used. Max height alteration of the delta map (white-black) are between x-y values.

Following is for bin files dealing with the elevation

binary_map_file : binary profile of the whole track.

binary_map_scale : global size of binary profile of the map.

height_map_delta_file : binary height_delta file

height_map_delta_range : same effect as height_map_range

The lines with file names are quite explicit but I didn't manage to understand the effect of other parameters. Especially the ones with {n, n, n} variables.

As said a few lines before, the z value is not used. The x and y values are used for bounds. They have a global effect on the map : either the whole inclination of the map, either the power of the effect of the height_delta info.

I realise that maps are kind of polarised. The side set for race start has a big white wall and behind the background landscape is blurred (but on a classic race, this side is always in the back of players). On the other side, after the finish line, the area is slightly shaded and infinite, the background landscape has higher resolution.

I hardly understand a thing...

If you need more explanations, just ask !

(Just a question : who thinks it would be a good thing to merge everything related with supreme-snowboarding in a dedicated wiki ?

I can provide a hosting space (10GB) with mediawiki or another thing, with a .tk redirection for example)

So, Matt, what was the purpose of our email discussion?

You just wanted to get my approval?

Angry Michael will come soon.

I don't understand your motives Michael, why is it that Alpine Easy is yours for all eternity?

I understand the work you've put in it, but that was your own choice. I think of it as unfair that you hold the fastest run on the track no matter how many faster runs there may be. It's like me saying because I made my special track I must hold the world record even if anyone beats me.

In the end, it comes down to your own personal performance. I think I should still be commended for a very nearly perfect race, but as you said, 1.16.xx is possible.

Happy Australia Day.

Matt, this is not only sport interest, this is moral responsibility. Imagine: if you make a track to make a record for it, find the best route, prepare all things, and then comes another person who didn't do it but seen how you do it, and makes a record instead of you - what you will feel? This is called piracy or plagiarism. Almost always it's crime, here it's a moral crime.

As I said before, Michael can beat you but you shorten his life by several month doing so.

And there is still a chance that you're cheating. Because noone can make such good and fast races so often.

I also believe mk has copied Oli's route and beat him, not to mention my combination of routes on Village Easy.

By all means, beat me Michael. If you can. I believe I beat you on this route

I beg to differ, I am not cheating. I am just plain awesome.

I am here to progress the game, not destroy it.

No but if you use parts of that route (jump over walls near CP1 for example) it's still crime ;)

I finished to edit my Everest map.

You can download it here (10 dowloads limited) or there.

If my calculations are good it should be the real mount everest at a 1/2 scale. Besides, resolution of original map wasn't enough to have accurate elevations so reliefs are rather blured.

There is two features unfinished. Firstly, objects on the most elevated area disappear after relaunching the map, I don't know why and I didn't manage to fix it. Second is the "safety path" to return on the slope after a fall. I don't know exactly how to build it...

Anyway, map is playable and you can feel free to modify, improve or share it.

For sure it would be a very good thing of gathering in one place all informations about editing the game. If someone is interested I could make a short tutorial on how to build a map from real world areas.

I don't know if you have the map displayed, but I had to add (in environment/Object_Data.txt) :

Quote:

Map {

right_x_loc = 0.95;

bottom_y_loc = 0.95;

size = 0.75;

item_size = 0.05;

texture_format = "4444";

};

Then, the map appears. You can also remove (fro the same file) :

Quote:

Variable {

halfpipe = 1;

stadion = 0;

};

Thank you Michael! :up:

Not meaning to sound ignorant but... I told you so. :D

ADDITION;

My website (http://mattsupreme.tk) has been undergoing changes, additions and bug fixes including the new release of my prized races of:

Alpine Hard: 1.08.61 (Route on the left)

Village Medium: 1.07.81

Village Hard: 0.57.46

Also in my collection of additional pages is the 'Hall of Fame for Alternate Routes,' included is the four main routes on Alpine Easy and Hard (I am open to more routes) showing the top 3 races and Youtube links.

Problem:

There are various compatibility problems between Mac and PC (the website is Mac). I have been fixing some of them but if any bugs are picked up could you please tell me?

A perfect example of this compatibility problem is the title on the Home Page, it is on the left (as I discovered today). Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks

Matt is the new #1 in the world

Hi all,

since today Matt is the new #1 on the original tracks, and I am the first of all losers:

#1

Thanks Michael,

Even though I hold #1 there are some true world records, Michael's FM/FH race and Dom's AH race.

I can see many possible beating points in my races, so don't give up entirely! ;)

Thank you, Matt, for telling us the whole truth. :rolleyes:

Hi!

Everything is at www.supreme-snowboarding.tk.

I recommend to start with the page "The Game", then always click at "next" to find every page of the website in an infinite loop.

BTW: The new downloads are so much better than the former stuff. :)

And not to forget Xinfe's page.

(1) Tansku (2) Fog

(1)

Have you ever heard of or about Tansku?

Can you please search on your computer in all of your Supreme Snowboarding files for any file containing the word "Tansku"?

You should find "Tansku" in the files

- Setup.exe

- Demo_Setup.exe

- Supreme_Game.dll

If you can find the word Tansku in any other file, please inform me!

(2)

Since Windows Vista I cannot play under fog conditions. Does anyone have an idea how to transfer the fog from Windows XP to Windows Vista?

To pick the option "Fog", you have to

- install the Add-on (Add-on.exe)

- start the game

- click at "Options" - "Graphics" - "Custom" - "Configure Custom" - "Fog"

As said before: At Windows XP you can see fog, but not at Windows Vista. This problem has to be solved.

(1) I dont have the game installed now, so I can't help you. I don't think it means anything special.

(2) Try to install DirectX6, provided with the original installer. Might work.

I found "Tansku" in a game file where it does not belong to. It changed important settings of the game.

DirectX6: Nice idea, but unfortunatley it does not solve the problem.

DirectX6 was made for Windows 95 and Windows 98. The fog effect of DirectX6 also worked at Windows XP, but it does not work at Windows Vista.
