SS in Linux

Yes, the game's running really fine through the SupremeSnowboard's OpenGL driver, using wine or cedega, with a very neat framerate (>100 on my modest machine) and quite nice resolution (that is to say any resolution your machine can handle). i'm using an integrated Geforce4mx btw.

The stability is pretty decent as well - wether you play solo or network games.

Only drawbacks :

-this is not native Linux (but as long as it works, I don't mind, come on, this is an old application).

-there is no fog (well, there is no fog either thru opengl on windows, on my machine at least)

-there are some textures missing that requires some fixing here and there, see my earlier posts (some TGA's are compressed, other are not), but I guess this is because Housemarque didn't do a serious job on the opengl implementation (was aimed at directx6/directx7)

-Housemarque did not respect filenames case as well (pretty inconsistant file naming scheme).

Couldn't Supreme Snowboard be "liberated" like some other games out there, so that there could be some (needed) improvments and cross platform compilation ? Hmmm, I guess not.

There is a new world record at Village Medium, a video of the race is here.

Did anyone play the game online, and can you describe how?

Who is Sencho, and what is he doing here?

Funny how many Atari mods gad about as kings. But what is Sencho's legitimation to delete parts of posts of others? Being a mod means to be qualified to act like a lout?

It would be interesting to have this information.

The administrators here have allowed you to remain as a poster, even though you have been banned before. However, you must behave in order to keep your account.

Pyros looks forward to seeing your good behavior on these boards. I do as well. We'll both be watching you. Welcome back.

I have no idea who Sencho is, but it seems obvious to me that he deleted a link associated with "available source code". My guess is that the 'officialness' of the availability of the source code may be in question. The editing of the post seems like a VERY measured response if that was the case.

Pyros, does this qualify as double posting?

Please note that it is hard to reply to two posters in the same thread (when a quote is necessary) in the same post.

As it stands now, that is what it looks like Jungle Bells did.

Yes, that does qualify as double posting. My suggestion is if you are responding to another user, copy their quote, edit it into your previous post, and respond there. That way you can add many replies into a single post.

Like this!

Snowman42, as for the removal of the URL in Challenger's post, I think the moderator may have removed it because it constituted as "advertising". However, I spoke to an administrator after it occurred, and we both agreed that it wasn't really a form of advertising, and the URL should have remained there. To my knowledge, there was no issue with the source code.

Pyros,

Thank you for the clarification. I will attempt not to double post in the future - but the resultant hassle will probably reduce my amount of posting.

I'm a user super-mod with an atrocious schedule that keeps be from being the regular I once was. I'm primarily associated with the Moo3 forum but will go where the reports lead me. And will always moderate in moderation.

Is that a good enough definition for who I am? :)

This is a Boarderzone/Supremene Snowboarding thread!

The reason this thread has the replies/views it does is because of us, the players/fixers/modifiers.

There was a dedicated forum with all sorts of mods and useful information, but atari, with it's infinite wisdom, decided to purge it, not archive it, so WE have to rely on each other not atari or its ASSociates.

Sencho, Pyros, Dreadnaught, and Betatestadmin, please remove your useless posts and keep yor future banter somewhere else.

Fix the problems or go back to the prior version of vBulletin, how hard can it be?

So we'd better call the moderators educators/destroyers.

To all of you: What do you think of creating a new and free Boarder Zone forum, far away from Atari and its moderators?

I think www.boarder-zone.tk would be a good address for a new, external forum. Anyone wants to make it?

Mattlab

We have no problem with all of the Boarder Zone Fans posting here. In fact we encourage it! The whole point of this forum is to create a community where fans can go and post and talk about the games they love.

If you have a question, comment, or concern about the forums please PM me about it and we can chat.

Regards,

Mattlab

Are any of you actual programmers? I'm just curious.

Also no advertising of other websites is allowed in posts at the moment. I do however recognize that fans want to do this so look for news about it soon.

Is this a rule change?

The posted rule reads:

"10. Advertising: Advertising any service that is for profit or detracts from general forum social life."

The post in question (what I saw of it) was hardly advertising, more general linking as a service to forum users - as is often done on these forums. and although I didn't get the chance to view the linked site, I highly doubt it was 'for profit'.

I am glad (tho surprised) that you, as an Atari official, (and Sencho) have no issues with source code being discussed, distributed, etc.

Hey guys! first of all thanx for doing such a great job! BZ is worth it :)

I was wondering what are the music track titles and who composed them for a long time and finally i got it! The composer and performer of all tracks is 'Knocking Boots Productions' (dont know these guys but they obviously lack of official website) and all of the track titles can be found in "\data\MUSIC\usic_config.txt" :) i've searched all over the internet and only after i found nothing i decided to look for it in a gamedir. Well, with MIDAS ADPCM decoder, which Fjguarino mentioned on the first page when this all was only beggining (god! it was fife years ago!!) you can get 'Complete Boarder Zone Soundtrack' :) otherwise, what's the use of music when you don't know the track name and performer, right? :)

p.s.: by the way, GAP (game audio player - VERY useful thing) was unable to decode MIDAS adpcm, but it's capable to decode other adpcm types.

Knocking Boots Productions = KBP

The webpage of Knocking Boots Productions is here: www.kbp.fr.

Google about KBP:

KBP New Media Company - a production company providing services for video games and new media. For your original music, sound design, content production, localisation, ...

A few minutes ago www.kbp.fr was offline. Try again later.

It is not possible.

But here is a tip for you: Download the Special Ramps. They include the bug-fixed Practice track by ThC73 as ramp. You have one minute to collect points.
