inafinus and anyone else who's interested: go to my Supreme Snowboarding page, and download the source code, unzip and check it out, there's some source code in there, containing HX file information.

why are Rubin's posts always deleted?

the .DDS files may be the answer.

The DirectX Texture tool-DxTex's native file format is called "DDS" file format because it encapsulates the information in a DirectDrawSurface.

This format is easy to read and write and supports features such as alpha (Pixel opacity info) and multiple mipmap levels, as well as DXTn compression.

The DDS file format is used to store textures and cubic environment maps, both with and without mipmap levels. This format can store uncompressed and compressed pixel formats, and is the preferred file format for storing DXTn compressed data. Other than DxTex, this file format is supported by some third party tools, and by the Direct3D extensions (D3DX) library.

Maybe the .HX files are a dirivative of the .DDS format???

These files are from the "Transworld" version of SS/BZ

But probably the same engine I would think?

As far as I know, DDS is for 2d-textures, and HX is for 3d-models, so your idea wouldn't, work I think. Like I said, I've been in contact with both Hybrid (the SurRender engine creators), and Housemarque. They couldn't really help me, it seemed they lost their codebase for the game. If you want, I can provide you the mail-dialog I had with them (just let me know what's your email address). Maybe Atari can be of any help, because they are the current owners of the game.

about rubin: I don't know, sometimes he deletes his own messages, sometimes they are deleted by the board crew.

Hi All,

i have been spending some time running the track VILLAGE - EASY ( arcade, timeattack) and wonder where i can find sites with info regarding record times and "world records" on that track... without cheats!

Im runnig it quite fast but see room for some minor improvements/adjustments to make the run 100%

Thanks for the link, wow! the word record is quite a wild one. I only run this level (village easy) and im gonna try for the record some day, problem is i have a mac and have to play at a friends, so im not that regular. Anyhow, when playing and trying to cope with the record, i see that the record holder runns faster than me and that he seems more stabile in bumpy terrain then the rider im using. So my question is.

What board and what rider is used to set the world record on Village Easy?

server changed

I also wanted to add, my server changed locations recently.

The new direct link is :

http://64.15.130.247/~muskokar/supremesnowmod/

other link should still work.

http://www.muskokaramp.com/supremesnowmod/

Also, this game is old, but it is timeless. and when you play the game with my park and settings, you will love it in a whole new way.

Once I get it up.

cheers

I'm curious. :)

Indeed, the game is old, but timeless. And with new tracks - what could be better?

phy

There is an interesting thing about the .phy files. They use these in half life 2. I will try and fid out what they use to encode them and we may be on to something.

It's Here !

Well it took a couple hours trying to figure out exactly what files were needed for this patch.

But thankfully the file zipped over 70% down to 3 megs from 10.

This Buds for you Rubin.

If you aren't smiling when you get to the bottom of this park,

then you didn't take the right line :)

I hope it works and I hope you enjoy!

not bad!

I think this can be the basis of a new track, but there are still a lot of objects missing, for example fences, landmarks, checkpoints.

I propose to split:

- files for new track

- modified objects

- other modified files, with explanation

Shred

I must admit, I am not that into borders, or putting up fences.

unless the point is to jump the fence to get to a better area.

This was intended as a practice area and super park.

Not really a race course.

But Yes this is just a start.

I add to it every time I play the game. Then I go try and find what I created.

I may add more objects and fences, But I don't really believe in check points or time limits, I just like the free range and the ability to make any kind of terrain I wish.

But feel free to change this track and make it better and different, if you would like I can add a section for other people's tracks to my mod site.

just let me know if anyone has anything to add.

But good work so far. I would say: more in October/November.

MAX

test_object_exported.max ( The Wild Goose? or Not! )

I have tried opening it in my version of 3ds max with no luck although i am intrested as to how you managed to get the file out. And if you were planning to use the .max file in supreme that would certainly not work as .max is only a scene file so you would have to probably have to find a way to use .3ds file or use this http://web.axelero.hu/karpo/ to convert your file to one that would possibly work in supreme.

what do you think?

I think the key to opening up the games potential is to look at the Core Game Engine and what different file types it can load.

The game has the included importers for LWO JPEG and HX in the main directory,

srEXT_JPEGImporter.dll - srEXT_LWOImporter.dll - srHXImporter.dll

Perhaps the key is in these files.

Adding more similar import .dll's from games that use Surrender3d might allow it to load different file types. The developers would want to package the game with the least amount of files as possible, only the needed files for any configuration. But I think the real fun lies in the cracks that could be exploited.

It would be great to have the help of the developers and the makers of SR3d.

But for now we could compile a list of games that use SR3d (hopefully that someone has access to.) and check to see what .dll's are present for that game.

Any thoughts> ?

Hope I'm not interrupting any conversation...

I've had this game (Boarder Zone) for a while, but stopped playing it about 3 years ago. Now I start it up again, but I get a certain startup error:

ERROR: an unknown exception.

Last kernel error:

typeid:class Housemarque::kernel::Error

What:<No message>

Expr: <No expression?}

File: E:\work\ht\EDGE\HMG_kernel\Impl\Error_Handling\Error.cpp

Line: 16

I went to www.supreme-snowboarding.tk and downloaded the patch and add-on, but when I tried installing the patch, I got another error:

This patch needs installation of Supreme Snowboarding (6)

I really want to start playing this again! Help please, thanks for any help.

Rubin, what happened to your domain? Are you relocating or is it dead forever?

Also, anyone know who currrently owns rights to BZ's source code?

The patch is for Supreme Snowboarding (European edition of Boarder Zone). There is no patch for Boarder Zone.

Atari is the legal owner. Parts of the source code are here.

Does any one have Lightwave. Because if they put the lwo object importer in their plugin's directory it might just work. Oh and do you think i should start a new post on mod db that is completly dedicated to us modding this game and not "oh i beat the world record"

WE NOW HAVE SUPPORT FOR MODELS IN SUPREME SNOWBAORDING!!!!!!!

I have been intouch with the guy who created 3d object converter and he has managed to create a module for the program that means we can OPEN and then convert the files to another format openable by other programs. We can then convert them back to hx format and use them in supreme. I tell you guys this is the beggining of something big.

Try it your slef here http://web.t-online.hu/karpo/3dc32390x_dev_20060906.zip
