hmmmm, can we supply ideas for tracks as well?

Since I have some ideas from Transworld Snowboarding...

Okay, here's a list of stuff:

- Make the track realistic, so no angled drops, sharp edges on mountains, etc.

- Make the track 'tracklike', so not with weird routes, since this will be no fun racing (the ThC73 track has some features which are not good for racing)

- Grinding rails (ThC73 has done it, if I'm correct) picture

- Some cool drops picture

- Less fences, but more forcing the player in the lane by terrain features, like trees and rocks.

- Make it crowded with little details like shovels you jump over, etc ;)

Too bad we can't edit the models yet... otherwise I would have built an indoor track... like the Bottrop Snowhall in Germany!

It's a great track indeed :) I practice a lot on it, but not race.

Okay, some more suggestions:

- Glaciers. Maybe even include some dangerous cracks in it...

- Not sure if it's possible, but I think I have seen the zeppelin moving... if it does move, maybe we can use this technique to create moving objects like avalanches and cars.

Why is it impossible for Atari to support the supporters?

Yeah, some kept it alive. But thanks to Atari: over.

Huh?

Pyros,

What's up with all the deleted posts??

[this is eerily similar to the Falcon4.0 support saga]

Why on earth were these posts deleted!?

Atari guys: YOU ARE KILLING THE SUPREME SNOWBOARDING COMMUNITY!!!

Unfortunately, Challenger8 decided to replace all of his posts with something like"Posted edited because Atari sucks" after he recieved warning levels. I edited that out of his posts. He unfortunately deleted the content of his posts himself, I simply removed his hate messages towards Atari. I'm sorry this had to happen guys, but it seems that some members display a childish attitude towards behaviour.

edit: The message was apparently "Deleted because of Atari".

Allow me to lay out what happened so there is no misunderstanding:

1. We're having an issue with the boards where in some forums users cannot delete their own post

2. Challenger created three topics about this in three forums

3. After enough double postings and repostings to these threads he was asked to stop because we knew about the issue and were working on it

4. He mouthed off to other users, mods, admins, and refused to basically stop double / triple posting about an issue we said we were aware of. Read about it here

5. He then, after my post asking him to stop, went to another forum where one of his threads about the issue is and double posted. This constuted double posting and insubordination (though I did not give him WL's for the latter)

6. Today he did what he did and is now banned.

Final note....this issue is something we are aware of but having trouble fixing. If anyone needs to delete a post they made (rare) feel free to PM a mod or admin and they will help you out.

Sorry to all for this nonsense, but that's what happened.

Thank you Pyros & BetatestAdmin.

While double posting, flaming/trolling, and mostly insobordination are against the rules - I'm surprised that saying "Atari SUCKS" (which he didn't) is. Learn something every day.

But at the end of the day, it's "Atari's house - Atari's rules".

Hope you get the forum software back inline.

He was not banned for saying "Atari sucks" in his posts. He was banned for a combination of spamming, double posting, flaming/trolling, and profanity via Private Messages. He was not given any WLs for deleting the content of his posts. A childish act it may be, but it is not against the rules.

Please keep this thread clean and stay on topic (Boarder Zone/Supreme Snowboarding).

Back on topic:

A new board-package can be expected in about a week. It will contain lots of new boards, which will be copied as an addon, so it won't delete the default boards.

I like!!!

Sorry about the lack of input, I got addicted to 'Grand Theft Auto' and have been busy becoming a slum-lord.

I am ready to get back to the snow.

You folk have restore my faith in the 'online' human race. I like all that you all have contributed.

I read in one post '...help with editing .HX files...', if this is true I NEED to know.

I have been trying to figure out all the options of the 'aja editor' and would like to know if there is anything anyone has 'dicovered'. That is, functions not detailed in the online help or the ones I listed near the start of this thread, if you can expand on these, please post.

THANK YOU

Running the game within Linux.

First, thanx to everybody for all the new tracks (even if I'd like to see more alpine downhill freeride tracks type).

Just a short note to mention that I've been playing that game on Linux for a couple of years.

Wine needs a few tweaks to get it running (inclusion of the msvcp6.dll...), but the last cedega installs the game and plays it out of the box.

You just have to choose the OpenGL driver, and you'll get great FPS in very high resolutions (1600x1200 anyone ?)

Still, there are a few issues : bgr textures for alpine and forest do not work in opengl mode, and you have to replace them with the village's ones. If anybody knows how to fix that, i'll be glad to hear how to do it.

The fog doesn't work either.

But apart from that, the game is running great, never crash, even in network play with lotta players.

About network play : is it possible to add IA players in network races ?

Thanx and keep sliding !

Linux / OpenGL driver further information...

Following my previous message about running the game on linux, I dug a bit about the missing bgr issue, and found out that bgr texures for Alpine and Forest courses were compressed tga's, while Village's ones were not.

I converted them to jpg then back to raw tga's, and then the missing backgrounds did indeed show themselves up !

Still, there are two other noticable missing textures : the ones on the zeppelin, and the one on the dead trees (wood texture).

That game is still amazing and very playable, more than five years later...

How came housmarque never did a decent sequel ?

I mean, just imagine an open game, with the whole Tarentaise modelized in it... Or pick your favourite mountains here... Nahhh. The 'Neverwinter Nights' for sliders... Groovy just to think about it.

See you, riding somewhere out there in France.

UPDATE : I fixed the missing textures issue with the same above method for zeppelin and the dead trees (data/Levels/Forest/Objects/kaatunut_puu/runko.TGA)
