Hi all. I am back with some new races (see my page).

Michael, the http://ssb.bplaced.net/high_times.txt contains wrong data.

Editing the landscape is possible in SSB Editor - there are a lot of brushes with which you can draw the soil. But the Editor creates huge files (up to 80 MBytes), and it cannot be used then. So we should create tracks without modifying landscape, or by changing some files or parameters without having to save big landscape files.

Rocks: I thought we can easily add Rocks objects...

Your track in the hall of fame? It will be in MY hall of fame if I will be able to race without fall but in order to get to mk's hall of fame it should be among 9 tracks as set of Special tracks #4. There are no 8 good tracks.

Xinfe and mk

I don't want to publish the source code but I can send to some people. Michael knows the principles and some details. I can send details to Xinfe because he will not compet for records. I cannot open details to all people because I don't trust so many people. Too many people can take these details and manipulate DAT files to make cheated records. I don't want it. Xinfe, the principles and calculations are easy and you can discover them by yourself.

CP2 in DAT file: no, not possible. It is not there. This is strange but CP1 info is also not needed in DAT file, so why CP2 needed? CP1 is there by mistake.

Sorry, the file contains only a link, but no data. The Hall of Fame Special Tracks is already updated.

Later you can scale the big .tga files down! No problem. However, I will never understand the usage of the brushes ... (But I am not the one who has to.)

Not really. However, I doubt that you can manipulate records. Yes, you could manipulate the time of a race by changing the start and finish line of a race. But you can easily find it out in the demo version.

Hm. I tried to change the materials (soil/ice/rocks) in the Editor, and I could not do it. The game doesn't change anything. Only the heights can be edited by brushes (try yourself. Matt, this is your way to change your crazy landscapes). Can anyone try too? F7 then F5 in the Editor.

Just three words: I cannot help.

NearLucid had posted a lot of brushes, whatever it is. "Brush" has for me the same meaning like "Schloinkiflunk" or "Shllmpf". It just means nothing for me. No idea. And nothing happens in the Supreme Editor, as a matter of fact.

So. Sad, but I have no idea. What is brush? Don't know.

What I can do is this:

a) fixing all kinds of bugs, but not in the structure of the landscape

b) making safety splines

c) making AI paths

d) adding landmarks, e.g. banners

e) making installers

But I cannot do it now, from one day to the next. I always need a lot of time, a lot of weeks. And because it is summer now in Europe: A lot of months.

And I only want to do it for tracks which can potentially be tracks for the Special tracks installer. I just have to like a track before I can start removing bugs or making whatever. So, in other words: I can do a lot, but I will not promise anything.

At this moment it is hard for me to like Matt's tracks, because it is very difficult and at the same time unreal. Okay, all tracks of the game are unreal. But in this case the difference between reality and game is just too evident, in my opinion. However, I cannot do anything to make it better. I don't have the knowledge. I would like to help, but I can't.

P.S.: The title of this forum is okay. You will always find this forum if you search for "Improvents".

Does anyone understand the format of BIN files?

height_delta.bin

Material_Map.bin

shadow.qua.bin

alpine_easy.bin

EDIT: If I make all pixels black in rock00_map.tga, I will have no soil on the track... This means the materials are sometimes editable.

EDIT 2: BIN file contains X and Y size in its 8 first bytes. But the bitmap is not usual (4 bytes for each pixel but unknown "color structure"). I couldn't find yet how to transform it to BMP.

I am at a loss for my special track, I may just leave it as the awesome challenge beta track. If you guys want it you can use it as a first design or something like that. I'm still interested in these other new tracks, it'll be great having something new brought in.

Yes. Just reduce the size.

I haven't done it so far for any other Special track, and would not do it, because it PROBABLY will change ANYTHING on the track.

But if you do it before you publish a new track for the first time, it should be an option.

You can upload to any file store server (Rapidshare for example).

Or to:

ftp://92.249.115.62:54321/incoming

(use Total commander or FAR or any ftp client. mk can download it later. It will be visible for everyone).

Rapidshare is easier if you have login there. Or paid?

I've wrote several programs you can use to upload to FTP servers. This is my FTP and you can upload there. Try yourself. 300 MBytes is free space now.

Hi Matt !

I have tried your track, and for sure, it's an unseen one.

There is some good ideas, but I will stress what is wrong to me :

It seems to be a happy melting pot of everything in Supreme, without rework.

For example, your objects are all horizontals : if the land is not flat, a part of your object will be under the snow, and the other part will fly.

Also, some objects are present without reason : somewhere, the is a part of a bridge. No route, nothing to make your track look real. When you want to show a path, just put one or two signal, not twenty or more. (Think like in real life : it costs much more and it's not really beautiful).

To finish, the landscape is quite tortured : you can have very sharp kicks or mountains, but think "real"... A river here, a forest there. Here, the is a village, so there are some flat paths...

To summarize, there are some good points (not explained here), but the result is too random. There is no coherence. That's how I design my real tracks (highspeed tracks excluded then)...

I am currently reworking my full-patched lightened edition of Supreme. It's now known as SSEE (SupremeSnowboarding Editor Edition), but it's temporary.

I think that this version (SSEE) is too much lightened, that's why the texture editing is buggy. This new version will be a real, fully patched and complete version.

I have reworked additional "black" textures in OpenGL, and simplified the directory structure. To do that, I have selected only the highest texture resolution available.

I still have some little things, remove EVERY file unused (much work) for each language and so on...

I've called it (as it appears during the loading) :

I might have found why there is only CP1 :

In Championship, choosing "Time race" as qualification method loads a run to the first checkpoint.

Oppenents' times can be based on Top5 records, where the Finish line is CP1 and not the finish line...

Nevertheless, I will try something to check that.

EDIT:It can't be verified easily...

Sorry for sounding dumb, but how do you do that? Forget what I just said! I discovered it. I'm assuming it's FTP? Could you (Oleg) send me the username and password? It requires it.

My Special Track:

I know my special track is out there. In fact, I know that all too well, I've tried it myself. Looking from the general real life angle, it is completely random. It is my first attempt of a special track. It could fall in the "out there" category or the "completely random", you know?

Oh well. I'm very interested in these new special tracks coming out.

And by the way, I will not be playing Supreme Snowboarding as much anymore, my computer got wiped and I'm not allowed to install any other software on it other than what's currently on it. So that throws away all the work I had done to get Supreme Snowboarding going, very annoying.

These theories of CP1 are very interesting. Does anyone have contact with infrograms or Housemarque? That would be handy to ask them these questions in person.

Jille from the Netherlands (who created a lot of the modified boards!) was in contact with Housemarque many years ago, and myself. But you cannot expect anything from anyone anymore. The Housemarque programmers are all gone, the know-how is gone, and the source code and anything else is gone. By the way: Housemarque has sold the game and all rights to Infogrames, some years later Atari bought Infogrames. Atari has neither any source code, nor will they ever be interested in helping us, because they want to sell new games, and nothing else. And they just don't know the game and its programming.

About .tk domains: You can get new .tk domains at dot.tk. And it has nothing to do with FTP.

About mattslee.tk: Oleg M should send an e-mail to payments@dot.tk and ask them to transfer the domain to his account. After that he can transfer the domain to another own account (he has to use another one of his e-mail addresses to create a second account). Then he can change the e-mail address of this second account (with only the domain mattslee.tk in it) to Matt's e-mail address. Then he will inform Matt and give Matt the password. Then Matt can log-in with his own e-mail address and the password and will have full access to the account and the domain mattslee.tk. Then he has to create a new password to be the only one who has access.

About new Special tracks: I am willing to make new tracks better by finding bugs and making AI paths and safety splines and small installers. But I think I cannot do it for Matt's track, it is just too different from reality. Don't be sad.

However, I would like to learn more about CP1 and CP2 in the files Supreme.exe and Supreme_Game.dll and in the race dat files.

I don't like the .tk (for my site at least). They can change the registration whenever they want in a way I don't know. That's why I don't like that.

EDIT:To "save" www.xinfe.tk, if I change my mind, I have created the domain, but redirecting to something special :D

EDIT2:I am impressed that my SS/BZ site (in my signature) has always at least 1 visit day. I thought that it would depend more on releases of special tracks or whatsoever...
