Extract the music of the game!

You can extract the music of the game! Here is an instruction:

(1) First of all you have to download adpcm.exe and CoolEdit.

The sample file is check.adp - you can find check.adp on the game CD.

(2) Install Cool Edit. Copy adpcm.exe and check.adp to the same directory on your computer.

(3) Go to the directory and run the following command:

adpcm d check.adp check.pcm 2 1024

(4) Start Cool Edit and open the new file check.pcm with the parameters 44100, Stereo und 16-bit, and then: "Data Formatted As: Intel (LSB,MSB)"

(5) Save the result as follows: File - Save As - Windows PCM (*.wav) - check.wav - Save. Quit Cool Edit.

(6) Convert check.wav to check.mp3 with a tool of your own choice, for example with CDex.

(7) Finally you need the best title for your new file check.mp3. You can find it in the game file \Data\Music\music_config.txt:

Music {

filename = "data/music/check.adp";

halfpipe = 1;

tracks = 1;

author = "Knocking Boots Productions";

track = "Check This **** Out";

volume = 0.3;

};

Which means: The best title for check.mp3 is "Knocking Boots Productions - Check This **** Out.mp3" or "Supreme Snowboarding - Check This **** Out.mp3". Simply rename check.mp3.

Solved

Thx Rubin, but I have already found the solution : DX7 is very poorly supported by Vista, and DX6 runs much better. Bad news, the framerate is very very low. So I have tried to play with OpenGL (which isn't natively supported by Vista) :

CPU usage is at 100%, but the game runs as I want :p

see www.supreme-snowboarding.tk - "Tipps & Tricks" - "Best Settings": DirectX6 is recommended.

The frame-rate with DirectX6 under Windows Vista is as high as usual. I found no problems.

hey..I used the guide which several ppl posted on how to extract the game music from the .adp files, and it works like a charm - kewl music :D

btw not sure if anyone mentioned this, but the sample rate of 44100 is used for all the songs except the menu theme - use 22050 to get this one right.

You are right! I used sample rate 22050 to create a new music file for the menu ("Thrill Me" by Simply Red).

Kernel error / crashes at Windows Vista

File: E:\work\ht\EDGE\HMG_kernel\Impl\Error_Handling\Error.cpp

The kernel error usually appears on the Alpine tracks, in the moment when the replay mode (blinking yellow R) starts. The file E:\...\Error.cpp does NOT exist. The wrong error display is generated by the file HMG_Kernel.dll and does not have any meaning.

The Add-on at www.supreme-snowboarding.tk usually fixes this bug.

I found a new problem at Windows Vista: I have selected "Fog" in the Graphics menu, but cannot see fog. We've lost the fog at Windos Vista and I still don't know why.

The patch is by Housemarque (producer of the game from Finland) and for Supreme Snowboarding only, the Add-on is by mk (myself).

All of my installers at www.supreme.snowboarding.tk are made/optimized for Supreme Snowboarding, so I recommend to get rid of Boarder Zone (though it is the same game) and to buy or download Supreme Snowboarding.

You have to install (in this order):

1. Supreme Snowboarding (Setup.exe)

2. Patch by Housemarqe (SSB_UPDATE_1035.EXE)

3. Add-on by mk (Add-on.exe)

Or you have to install the Add-on (and all other installers) to the folder of BoarderZ.exe.

The Add-on reduces the number of crashes at Windows Vista, because it sets the value for "visibility_cube_width" (file Detail_Config.txt) to 600.

Yes, I always recommend to play the game with setting "DirectX6".

Just for your information:

Supreme Snowboarding is version 1.033

Boarder Zone is version 1.034

The patch (bug-fix) upgrades Supreme Snowboarding to version 1.035

And that's it. Over all the only difference is the number of menu languages: Boarder Zone 1 (English), Supreme Snowboarding 4 (English, French, German, Finnish). Plus that the additional installers are optimized for Supreme Snowboarding.

Some more information is here (for Boarder Zone, can also be used for Supreme Snowboarding):

Keys + Cheats

Complete list of keys and cheats for Supreme Snowboarding / Boarder Zone:

A. KEYS

←/→: to the left/to the right

↑: faster

let go ↑: slower

↑ + ←/→ + ⇑: better control in curves

Ctrl (Strg): jump high (raise your feet!)

⇑: when you fly, to come down

⇑ + ↓: when you fly, to raise your speed as soon as you come down

+/-: modified speed of shadow racers at Time Attack

+/-: modified speed at Repeat mode

F1/F2: change ingame camera

F4: create a screenshot (.tga file) in the game folder \images

F5: restart a race

B. CHEATS + KEYS

You can type five cheats - aja, bbi, lee, ope, ori - at any menu of the game (means: not during a race, you have to press "Esc" before). The sound of bleating sheep indicates that the activation of a cheat was successful:

ope: enable Guide Rider as 7th character

bbi + F3: starts a series of low quality screenshots (.tga) in game folder \images (double-click F3 to stop)

lee: enable hard tracks temporarily (or install the Add-on)

lee + F: all players fall immediately

lee + Pos1: sets you back to the start

lee + Page Up/Page Down: your race becomes fast and unrealistic (cheating!)

ori + C: switch from ingame camera view to camera view, and vice versa

ori + numbers: visual effects (TIP: ori + 8 / reset: ori + 7)

ori + K / J: visual effects

ori + O: slow-motion

ori + Tab: display video diagnostic information (position data)

aja + E: starts Supreme Editor (internal game editor, create/modify tracks)

aja + R: restart repeat mode after races (in Championship and Race mode you will see a different character)

aja + S: save your last race or event as Replay.dat; available during repeated playing at Time Attack, Race, Championship, Practice, Pipe and Air

aja + F6: starts AI heuristic mode (restart the game to disable this cheat)

aja + F8: record AI paths for the game (restart the game to disable this cheat)

Anyone still here?

Hi guys. The comments on this forum have been awesome:up:. I have been building a few new tracks but have a few questions:

In the editor, how do you change rock to snow? I have tried F7 and tried to edit material map but it makes no difference.

Is there any way to put in new fences (I mean the long plastic ones, not the funky old wood ones that come up when you "insert new Fence".

Thanks

Hi,

I an the one who collected lots of tracks, fixed hundreds of bugs and made the Special Tracks installer at www.supeme-snowboarding.tk, and all other new installers.

BUT: I cannot answer your question. :-(

Or, to be more precise: Today I do not know how to change rock to snow, BUT I could try to find it out, in about 14 days.

Second question: Of course, you can add new fences, whatever you want, but it is not easy to get the fence to the right position. I have my own method, which is very complicating, but I am sure it is easier than I know. But I don't know the easy method. :-(

However, I am interested in new tracks and in fixing bugs (I am the world's best bug-fixer), maybe I will take the time to learn a little bit more about making new tracks. You can either contact me via e-mail (I will answer in one week because I am not at home in the moment), or I will give new information here in about 14 days.

Rocks to snow

Hey mk Rubin, thanks for the reply and thanks for putting together the SS website, it's great. The email link on supreme-snowboarding.tk doesn't work for me.

I thought I saw other Special Tracks that had different areas of snow & rock to the regular tracks. Maybe I was mistaken. It would be nice to get rid of some of the rock that is in the middle of my new track (based on Village Medium). It would also be good to have fences to keep the boarders on the run I want, instead of them going off-track.

I am basing the new track on a real run at Guthega in Australia

And by the way: Your page (of 7th November 2006) needs an update! A tutorial would be fine.
