So, as a matter of fact: Since I have a new computer, I cannot play via Hamachi, except sometimes for only a few minutes or seconds. Reason: Unknown. It must be a configuration problem on my computer. It is not the firewall. Perhaps a dll files is damaged. But I just don't know. I think I will have a new computer in four or five years, then we can try again.

Too long to wait. Let's discuss it here what can you do.

First try to do what we discussed before:

If not helpful, disable the firewall completely.

If this is not a panacea, reinstall the game and try again.

If all this fails, buy a new computer with Windows XP :)

Wow

Jeez you guys know a lot about all this.

I know all about Himachi and network racing across the world, I have done so before. What I was asking for is if I went to...

www.supreme-snowboarding.com/onlinerace

and I could PLAY the game over the internet. Like, convert it to flash or something, store the game in my internet temporary files or something like that.

As for mk,

Have you tried different versions of Himachi? I have had troubles with this in the past.

Was Himachi designed for Vista?

I guess you COULD live without network races for a couple of years, I have.

Thanks for all the info guys! ;)

Dar Wine

Hey Guys,

Darwine is an application I found for mac, but I can't get it to run. It looks convincing as well. It runs windows applications on mac. Any ideas?

I have been able to reproduce exactly the same problem, by changing the network type (Vista and Seven). To do so, just follow the steps described by OlegM, and it WILL work.

I have managed to play online with XP, Vista and Seven, so old or new computer, it doesn't matter. Even Wine can manage online playing (although it's a virtualized environment).

I don't own a Mac, but I know that DarWine is the same thing as Wine, but for Os X. I can't give you more details, it's all I know...

I was already working with Oleg M on the problem several times and for too many hours, but without success.

The funny thing is: I was already able to play with somebody else via Hamachi. But not with Oleg M, and not with you, Xinfe. I cannot play online with the two of you, but with someone else it was/is possible without any problem.

And in the past, with my old XP computer, it was possible to play with a lot of people without any problem. Since I have my new Vista computer, I tried with three and was able to play with one. Now you can think what you want.

Not available. Probably not possible. Because 40 MB data have to be loaded to run the game.

I was asked for the dat file of my 1.19.19 world record. Hey folks, I am now trying to beat 1.18. And I just don't want to give away too many different dat files as shadow racers. I have no shadows from you, so why shall I make it too easy for you to beat me. Alpine Easy is my most important and wanted world record of all, so give me some time to offer you one faster world record race for eternity.

In the meantime you can watch the video of my 1.19.19 race (available as HQ AVI video and at YouTube), and you have a dat file of my 1.20.65 race, another very nice race. You can also download my 1.19.19 race here, but it is password protected. You can have the password later, if I cannot be faster, let's say for Christmas.

What does Wine do?

Concerning Virtual PC's/Boot Camp:

I have tried various methods and programs to solve this annoying problem. Running a virtual PC is just too power hungry and forces the game to run slowly. I have found yet another program that could solve this problem. Crossover. It allows Mac to run Windows applications. This is just too big to download at the moment though. I'm thinking of doing it at McDonalds!;)

Concerning the current Hall of Fame:

I keep hearing various comments about my mysterious improvements and cheating etc. and I would like to get things straight. I have not been playing for a couple of years (2 or 3 I think) and chilling out of Supreme Snowboarding. I occasionally looked on the Hall of Fame to see what was happening and saw a massive improvement all round. I decided to bring Supreme Snowboarding back into my life hence the sudden improvement. I have grown in experience and understand the laws of physics and record-breaking. In basic terms. I returned in flying colours. As you guys would have noticed I have slowed my record breaking to a crawl with my latest #2 of Alpine Hard 1.10.97 (watch here) and my mini race Alpine Easy 1.30.82 (available here). They are pretty awesome.

So yeah. That's the main reason I'm just so awesome.

I now have a Macintosh laptop which is the reason I'm looking for programs to run the most awesome game EVER! So if I'm boring you with my search just tell me. If you manage to find anything TELL ME ASAP!!!

Concerning videos:

At the moment I am making a massive load of videos for my website (see here) so if you want any videos published either email me or tell me via forum.

Concerning Special Tracks:

I think I'll start to pay attention to Special Tracks so mk and Oleg M better watch out!

Concerning Online Supreme Snowboarding:

As I mentioned before, I could 'install' it to my mac and save it as a temporary file (somehow) so I wouldn't have to download it. I'm having high doubts it won't work but it's worth a try.

That's it for me.

You have my AM and VH races on mk's site. Thanks for the videos

Your race on AE is interesting. :D I've never had success in jumping over those two walls. 1.25.xx is possible there I think. Have fun. :p

ADDITION.

I've updated my site: on the Bonus page you can download new v.1.1 of High Times Analyser. New version of the High Times Analyzer also shows you the "Common Virtual Best Time" that is the sum of best times of all players in the given *_high_times.txt file. Both DOS and Windows versions included. Welcome!

The correct link of Oleg's analyzer is the same as before: here

I think you cannot use the anaylzer for all tracks. For example Alpine Easy: The third part (checkpoint 2 to Finish) on the world record route is longer than on other routes. So the virtual best time is a combination of best times on different routes. Such a race is physically impossible.

I disagree. I am awesome. I am going to beat you!

On a lighter note:

I have published a page on my website dedicated for the mini competitions for the fastest routes possible. At the moment there is one competition running but if you have your own route that is slower than the world record but want to make a competition out of it, send the .dat file to me. Check out the page:

http://web.me.com/mattrocks_slee/Sup...ini_Comps.html

If you happen to survive a run using the current mini-route, send it to me. No matter how slow it is, as long as you get a time it's up there! I think I'll set the minimum time to 2:00:00.

I'm open to any routes on any track.

As explained the the archive, OpenGL is not really well implemented in Supreme. As a result, all TGA files using indexed colors will appear black. That's why, those images have been re-encoded in RGB, not indexed...For me, it's more an OpenGL patch, because it fixes issues with some images misinterpreted by the OpenGL engine included in Supreme.

Wine is used on linux to execute Windows code without having to install Windows. It's just a kind of interpreter.

Totally different ! Virtual PC, Parallels, Crossover use the same method : they start a virtual machine : they start a real Windows, inside Mac OS X.

Darwine is a bit different : they natively handle Windows applications to run. The virtualization is smarter, but it's harder to create such an application. So, some little things may not work properly.

Finally, Boot Camp. Totally different. Either you start Windows, either you start Mac OS X. In both cases, no virtualization : the software runs natively. If you want the best performances, use this method. It will act just like another PC.

DarWine

DarWine for some strange reason doesn't work. I'm trying different alternatives and found Cross Over. I cannot use Boot Camp because my Hard Drive has been already Partitioned. I have no administrator rights to change this. Is there an alternative to Boot Camp?

Hall of Fame / The most awesome

Just for info:

http://ssb.bplaced.net/Hall_of_Fame.gif

The Hall of Fame Special Tracks is here.

So: Oleg M (66 points) is more than twice as awesome as Matt (29 points). We don't have to talk about me. :-)

Track makers get 10 additonal points per track. Xinfe has 4 tracks in the Special Tracks installer, so Xinfe (40 points) is more awesome than Matt (29 points). ;-)

So it goes.

Hi all !

I may have discovered something promising...

If you manage to add an object in the editor's list, please tell me how...

For example, duplicate the folder \data\objects\zeppelin, call it zeppelin2, and change the textures inside to a flashy blue (or whatever else). Edit the references in the txt files.

And now, fatal question : how to add this new object (zeppelin2) in the object's list of the editor ?

I've added it to Object_Classes.txt, but no luck...

If you find out how to do it, please share the solution...

All objects are defined/listed in DLL files. So you can change objects, but you cannot add objects.

Minimum one object is available to be changed: kivisilta

OK, too bad : some objects are in the data folder, but aren't used at all.

EDIT:I have checked some files found on the net a long time ago, about Supreme Snowboarding (perhaps in the topic), and I have (re)discovered a rar file, including all the source code needed for a .hx importer.

It's written in c++, so if someone want to do something with it, just ask for it (using this forum or this contact page). I don't know enough to do work with it, but if someone more skilled can take a look, it would be great !

I think it was Jille from the Netherlands who got parts of the Source Code, and I have distributed the files in a rar archive (sr_hx_reader and so on). But it is probably not enough material to work with it.

Software

Hi all.

I've updated my page again. Two races added (including AM1.25.12), but more important, you can download the package of software I use already a long time from 2005.

"Rename Replays" pack (16 KB)

The package of "Rename Replays" programs for DOS (year 2005). All 3 programs create .bat file for renaming DAT files for Supreme Snowboarding.

For example you can rename Replay_0.dat to 1.19.19.dat if the first line in Alpine_Easy_high_times.txt file is

"Michael",19.17,48.02,79.19,"Day","2009/5/15",1,

And so on. Or rename it back. I've found it useful for those who upload their records to Internet. Readme file is in the archive. :)

Also I often use this batch file (create e.g. replays.bat and insert this there):

Code:

del Replay_5.dat

ren Replay_4.dat Replay_5.dat

ren Replay_3.dat Replay_4.dat

ren Replay_2.dat Replay_3.dat

ren Replay_1.dat Replay_2.dat

ren Replay_0.dat Replay_1.dat

if %1.==. goto exit

ren %1 Replay_0.dat

:exit

This batch renames replays so that one more place was freed for Replay_0.dat (one optional parameter says which file to rename to Replay_0 dat; this is helpful if you received a world record from another person). :noob:

My message number is #777. I'm lucky :) ;)

Yesterday Oleg sent me a new record at Alpine Medium. While he sees it on his computer with 1.25.12 (as demo races in the Demo version), I see it on my computer with 1.25.13, though we have exactly the same installation. Question to the community: How is it possible?

Oleg, batch files are a good solution. You can also rename files with the "Multi-Rename Tool" of the Total Commander, the best file manager ever.

Matt, I try to upload your new records on the Special tracks, but in this moment I don't have FTP access. However, I cannot update this page every day, once a week should be enough.

I'm building another track. As I am quite satisfied with the beginning, I might finish it (yes, I have already dropped several tracks : 2 or 3).

I got a good idea to sculpt the whole landscape at once, in a rather detailed way. I just need to ajust the details (for the height_map).

Filling it with objects is quite easy as I have some ideas...

EDIT : Probably 3 races, perhaps 4 on the same landscape...)

EDIT2 : Don't expect it before several weeks...Very first release not before, in every cases, august 10.

EDIT3 : Obscure preview :

http://xinfe.free.fr/SupremeSnowboarding/images/map.png

EDIT4 : I've tried to add on object in System_Classes.txt, I have duplicated the right object's folder, changed the references, and added it manually using the Object_Data.txt, but it don't appears. Too bad : I wanted to use a nearly exclusive object, with different textures depending on its location...

If you can manage to change that, it would be really great.

I've been working this night on a snowpark near the station, and the jumps works like charms ! Nice bumps and good landing areas...

Now, it's time to sleep...

EDIT5 : Progress : ~15%
