anyone else...

noticing the number of views and downloads, i was wondering if anyone else has played with the game and not just playing the game?

if anything is going to be done, it has to be done by us. it seems infogrames and housemarque do not care about their customers.

These are a few of the items that I found in the code.

Aint it a shame?

It IS a shame that those things obviously have been planned by Housemarque but finally not have been implemented (if I understood you right). But it is quite okay that YOU have the program code now, and also that you created such a challenging and great SPECIAL TRACK. Keep on going with that good work! Don't worry about Housemarque, maybe that they will find out sometimes that updating the game would bring them good profit. Let's hope - and tell them as often as necessary...

internet play

I've been looking around for information about setting up this game to play across the internet.

I was just wondering if anyone here has had any luck doing it, or if there is some other site that might provide more information.

- One line will then be changed by menu or has to be changed manually, it is in the file c:\Games\SupremeDemo\Data\Detail_Config.txt:

enable_fog = 1;

What I wrote here on page 4 is complety WRONG!

RIGHT is what fjguarino explained in his readme file in his downloadable fogbox (http://home.att.net/~jfguarino/).

He prepared it for US-Boarder Zone, and here ist the correct path to integrate the fogbox option in Supreme Snowboarding: The ID_options_graphics_advanced.txt has to be copied to c:\Games\Supreme\Supreme\Main_Menu\Main_Menu\. Then you will find the fog option added in the graphics menu - and that's all.

Here my record runs for download: http://people.freenet.de/mk2705/index.htm. You need a program to open ACE archives (much better compression than ZIP). WinZIP does not open ACE archives. I prefer the Total Commander (formerly Windows Commander) which is the best Commander I've ever tested, including file manager, archiver, FTP access and so on.

"completely" - not "complety". Of course. Maybe that native speaker's English is much better than mine, but mine is not SO bad - I hope. Think it doesn't matter here in this forum.

Hello

I just got his game and I'm pleased to find people who know something about it.

I am having problems getting the game to work. I have posted the problem in a thread in the 'Tech Support Forum' but there does'nt seem to be anyone who can help, they (the respondants) just suggest the most basic help, if any.

I noticed that you folks have actually changed some of the operating parameters of the game, so I was wondering if you could take a look at the problem I am having in the above mentioned forum named "Help, can't run game".

Thanks.

Please fix your problem here in this "improvements" forum, but first look if you already can find any information about it here on this sites.

No Help Yet

I have NOT received any solution from infogrames with regards to the problem I am having with the game, only "circular questioning" which leads me to believe that the so called 'tech support' is mearly a 'lip service'.

I tried the 'NO CD' fix as mentioned earlier in these posts, in order to see if the problem might be related to a damaged data structure of the music or animation files that the program needs to read off the CD disk.

Still NO GO!

New Track Record Runs

Please post your times for the 'special track'.

Ignore and/or delete the 'record' times as given with the 'special track', as they were made during track testing.

I am going to try to develop new "AI" pathes that do not use the special features {characteristics} that are used for the player and board. (I found that, by following some of the "AI" players, they can ride in places where a "human" player can not.)

There is also an error with the fence at the top and to the left of the starting point. It has a fence 'index' is set at 49. This is an invalid value and can cause problems if the game is set to run in the 'benchmark mode'. So change it to something else, for example, 2 will be the red net fence.

Still no help

I have yet to get a resolution to the problem I am having with the game.

Infogrames refuses to help me !

Does anyone here have any ideas? I tried returning the game to get a replacement but the store where I purchased it does not have another copy.

Try the demo version. You can download it from http://www.bz-shredz.com/pages/index.html or from other game download sites.

If the demo works, then the problem is most likely a bad CD. (Have you checked your CD for visible damage?)

If the problem turns out to be a defected CD and you have the receipt, you should ask infogrames for a replacement.

Tried the demo, it did not work either. Had a buddy try the game on his systems, one better and one not as good as mine, and it worked fine. Is there someplace I can download the full version. I known it would be a 'hack/crack' version, which might work. Since I payed for and have in may possession a non-functional version, a working copy should not be too much to ask for.

I am pretty sure this is a configuration problem with your system and not a fault of the cd/the program. But it is hard to find out from here. Sorry. I think there is no need to look for another cd/program. Program does only work with the original full version cd, not with a copied/"cracked" version.

This is what I have done. Tell me what is wrong.

Replaced hard drive,

removed all but video and audio hardware,

installed W98se,

installed all drivers for hardware, all being supported by game,

installed 'Boarder Zone' with it's directx ONLY,

THE DAMN THING STILL DOES'NT FÜCKING WORK !!!

Damn, you really got a sticky situation. The only thing I can suggest, since infogrames refuses to help, is to contact housemaque and see if they can help. Otherwise, get your money back.

By the way, does anyone else have a custom track that can be downloaded?

Please try

I remember playing this game when it was released, but quit when I could not play against others over the internet.

When infogrames killed the dedicated Boarder Zone forum, I did'nt give these forums a second look.

Good thing I came back. I had set this game aside for some time and only 'redicovered' it.

I really like the new track and the added options.

Just one thing to ask, would someone try running the game without the CD installed and renaming/removing the Display_Config.exe file from the install directory and then post what happens.

What happen for me was, after trying the 'No CD' fix and forgetting to put the file back, the game would run. Of course I got the 'animation not found' message at start up and I can't have the 'music' turned on, but then again, the music can get bothersome anyway.

porn site

I know some of you are aware of the fact that the web link www.boarder-zone.com, as provided in one of the setup screens, takes you to a porn site.

I just want to inform the rest of the other readers of this forum of the problem so that they can take measures to keep 'younger' players from accessing it.

I got tired of the lame looking snowflakes so I added some more realistic ones.

You can get them from my download area.

NOTE: I have 10 different snowflakes listed. Just pick the one you like the best and replace the 'flake.tga' file in the '../testdata' directory with it.

Let me know how it works.

Hi, could you again give your link adress?

Some bugs were reported about your (so far brilliant) Special track. Is the Special track on your site still the original one, or already an updated version?

Information

The site for downloads is:

http://home.att.net/~jfguarino/

The special track is still the original.

There is an error with one fence index value but this will only cause a problem if run in 'benchmark mode'.

I am going to split the special track into three seperate runs and add the 'Safety_Paths' so that when you use the 'RETURN TO TRACK' button after fall or pausing, your character does not start at the beginning but where the fall took place.

First: I tested your flakes. Download of the tga-flakes from your homepage did not work, so I took the gif-flakes on your homepage and transfered them to tga and copied some of them as flake.tga to the testdata dir. (If you again want to prepare the tga's for download I would propose to put them to one single zip file.)

Test result: An interesting effect! But I feel that the original flake is the more realistic one 'cause yours have more the character of iceflowers which you find on window screens but are normally not falling down from heaven. Nevertheless: A nice effect.

Then to say: I (and some others) like your Special Easy track just AS IT IS! If I were you I would only fix the reported bugs and then leave the whole thing it as it is. I would NOT split it into three. To have all routes in one is what makes it so interesting and challenging. I would more prefer to make it easier to install - and reachable as an own point in the menu, so that you have the original track to drive plus yours.

I don't know what "AI" players are. I read it but could not understand. Maybe because I use Supreme Snowboarding and not Boarder Zone?

Ploblems

Is the Problem with the 'snow flake' download or is the problem with the snow flakes themselves? I can download them ok with my browser.

I will fix the errors in the 'Object_Data.txt' file and add the 'Safety_Paths' to it to resolve the problem of having the 'Return To Track' putting you back at the start location.

The 'AI' players are the computer players you race against. When I set them up, some of the paths they follow you can't go, over rocks for instance. Somehow they seem to have 'special' characteristics.

Quote:

Maybe that you explained it before, but: How can I set the AI players up?

To generate an AI player, or more correctly, the path a computer player will follow;

1. Put the game in edit mode ('AJA'),<-edited : you do not need to enter the 'track editing' mode, ie. typing in 'E'

2. Press the 'F8' key to start the 'Record AI Path' mode.

Every run you make, will be 'recorded' in the '...\Data\Levels\....\TRACKS\....\AI_Paths' directory of the track you are playing.

I do not know how to 'disable' the recording mode other than quiting the track or game entirely.

I do not know if there is a limit to the number of 'AI_Paths' that can exist, but with too many, the computer may never learn to use them.

I have never tried to 'restart' after a fall , so I do not know if it is possible.

All actions you perform, jumping, hitting objects, getting stuck, falling, etc. will be recorded.

There is also an 'AI Heuristic' mode that is enabled with the 'F6' key while in the 'edit' mode that will, I think, automatically pick the best character/board for and determine the best way to 'avoid' crashing for a particular 'AI' path. I have never been able to fully understand the proper method of using this function.

As a final note, there is a function built into the editor that lets you alter the 'AI' paths. You can use it to fine tune the run so that the character will not fall, hit any object, or end up going outside the course. It is envoked while in the editing mode by selecting Level Options then Edit AI Paths.

I just copied the \data\anims and the \data\music directories from the game disk to the root directory of my hard drive.
