We won't try, we just make it.

The problem is that you are already going to break your fingers on the keyboard. You are just too aggressive. But with broken fingers you can do nothing, so you will fall into paranoia, and that's it. Over. A Matt with broken fingers and paranoia will no longer be dangerous for us. In winter (Europe) it will be decided.

As always, you talk big (I do too but just ignore that for a sec), but can you do?

Anyway,

I have changed my website URL from mattslee.tk to...

http://mattsupreme.tk

A little extra characters but I'm sure you'll manage. I don't like having my surname for the world to see.

Special Tracks Beta

One heavy bug at "high-speed by Matt":

Whenever you leave the track (and want to do anthing else), the game crashes.

It happens in both Full and Demo version.

But it does NOT happen in the demo version when it starts with a demo race in the player's view (without camera). So the Objects_Data.txt without cameras does NOT cause the crash. But the playable Objects_Data.txt with cameras causes crashes every time. But it crashes not as once, it crashes as soon as you leave the track.

So: What is the reason for the crashes? Something is wrong in the Object_Data.txt, that's for sure. Perhaps one of the cameras?

_________

EDIT: Yes, it was the last camera!

And here is the bug-fix:

Replace the line

loc = {640,-125,2360};

with

loc = {640.1,-125,2360};

That's all. The game won't crash anymore.

The new tracks are now available as race tracks for the Demo version.

Who can replace you if you leave?

Matt, do you want to learn all nuances of the game and programming to replace Michael? This is not very easy.

I know that, I don't really plan on replacing Michael, I fear if he leaves that's it for the game.

Michael, could you hang around until Special ... by Xinfe is finished? It sounds like he worked really hard on it.

Hey folks, what's going on.

I am not dead.

I only said that I have to invest less time, especially in the Hall of Fame Special Tracks. I don't have the time to check every new race.

But I did not mean anything else, as you can see. And I will keep my page minimum until the year 2666. Long enough?

About the new tracks: There are a lot of bugs in Matt's tracks. I can probably fix the safety splines at Matt Forest until end of this month. But I cannot fix the bugs at Matt Village, especially the places where you collide with invisible objects.

Special by DeJogg: DeJogg has to decide if the track is okay, or if he wants to make it even better. What you have now is a beta version.

Practice by DeJogg: I have to improve the AI Paths. Most of the AI players fall too often.

New Special by Xinfe: Let's wait and see.

Easily solved, I feel like I'm the perpetrator of this incident. I have made videos of MOST of my races, if that helps.

I think so, by then the human race would've invented something better than internet though.

I am not paying much attention to Special Village by me, I think I may do a redo of it at a later date, make it better etc.

This time Photoshop is not the solution. Because you already have the Photoshop files.

This time the solution is ... I just don't know.

I am powered by open source 95% of the time, so, the open alternative to Photoshop is GIMP. It handles TGA files very well, nothing more to say...

Just download it from the official site.

Errrr...actually, I am not working on it now : too much work with a lot of other things. As I have said before, I like what I have done until now, so it won't be trashed.

I will try to find the time to resume the creation, but nothing is sure.

If you need some tracks, I might be able to create some highspeed (like highspeed #1 and #2 by myself).

The landscape is not half designed, and the paths even less, so you will have to wait I fear quite a long time.:)

As Blizzard, it will be released when it's finished, not before.

EDIT:I can do what mk does : I understand exactly what he is doing, but the more we are, the better. I'm creating tracks, he handles the packages. :)

I just wanted to explain that the reason must be somewhere else. So another graphics program won't probably help.

For GIMP/Photoshop, I have just answered matt's question. I thought he wanted another painting program.

I was refering to previous posts :

'B' and 'C'. I have a feeling it has something to do with the 'illegal map.tga' (or similar) but that didn't turn out well, I have tried other numerous ways like creating illegal map a blank and changing the material directory, nothing. I have noticed one thing though, the soil pattern is the same as my High Speed. :noob:

1. Sorry that I've "killed" Michael while he is still alive :)

2. I didn't have the problems with any tracks yet but I could not check the new Special Tracks Beta installer yet. I propose to check the content of each txt file of new tracks (Land_Materials.txt and Resource_Config.txt). Matt's problem is most probably connected with wrong text file. Maybe the contents of TGA files is not a problem at all. Also, when you change the TGA file in Photoshop, not only first byte is changed to 08 or 00 or whatever but also some other bytes. I didn't have time to check all this though.

3. Matt, I am not sad about my records, I just don't have a time to return all of them now, but later... You can also visit my page more often.

Sad that Michael doesn't want to support HOF ST. There should be some solution for this. For example: update it only once per week (as he suggested before).

Amen to that Oleg, I was hoping for even a monthly update, or even yearly if we were that desperate. Never the less, our records are published on both our websites so we should be ok.

Your record on High Speed by Matt has been beaten with 1.10.06. Good luck taking that back, in your own time of course.

@ Xinfe:

On your website you have a link to 'Junior Hall of Fame' that goes nowhere, I have closed this part of my website (it still exists, just no updates yet).

@ Everyone:

I have just started the 'Ultimate by Matt', as it's name it will be ultimate and I am basing it on what I've seen in real life, Special by Xinfe, Special by DeJogg and hints of other tracks. I'm planning it to be BIG so it my take up to a year to finish, but I'm predicting around three months minimum.

So far:

0.01% landscape

0.01% objects

0.00% debugging

I might send out a half-finished version at some stage, but other than that you'll see it when it's finished.

Good luck to all!

I can say what is not the reason for this effect:

- Illegal_Map.tga

- Land_Materials.txt and Resource_Config.txt (all tested and okay!)

- 00/08 problem (Matt Forest has no tga files!)

I do not know the reason, but it is something else. Believe me.

Hmm, we could check the times for you. The Ukraine and Aussie HOF ST isn't a bad idea, good advertisement but the general public wouldn't check three websites for the best, I think checking when we have time is the best.

I cannot support new tracks any longer.

And I finally stop updating the Hall of Fame Special Tracks.

Quick Questions:

- How do I change the replay camera so at the start (ready, set, go) camera pans? At the moment it is stationary

- How do I create another control point on a fence?

Would appreciate it

You could just write a copy of it here so that everyone knew such useful things.

I've checked the Special Tracks Beta on the Full version and found no problems with the soil on Matt's tracks. I'm lucky or my computer is the best ;)

Solutions may be:

1) reinstall the game and then Special Tracks Beta fully as mk advised;

2) to check the text files I mentioned (they may be wrong just on Matt's computer).

HOF ST: Sorry, there should be a solution.

One more solution is: I register some TK domain for this and redirect it to one of my host names (olegm.ho.ua for example). Then I have 64 MBytes for the HOF ST. And others should send the new WRs to me...

Not a bad idea. All of my records are on my website and mk's are on his. You could just make it top two or something managable, or mk could just do it. Actually, what about just the World Record on mk's site?

Yes, 64 MBytes would be enough only for TOP2 :(

Better idea would be that someone has access to modify mk's site.

No. Or, not only.

The debugging process is that you make safety splines, AI Paths, cameras, various objects that help to go through default routes (slope arrows, skeleton marks etc), and while you are doing this you are searching for bugs.

Bugs can be:

- the checkpoint (or start or finish) line is not under the corresponding banner;

- you collide with invisible object (it's not easy to resolve this but possible);

- safety splines are wrong or absent. Wrong means not on one of default routes or crossing an object;

- cameras are wrong or absent (you don't see you in Demo mode);

- two checkpoints (or finish lines) are crossed so that you hear it twice (this bug is still exists in Special Matt Forest). I propose to remove one or make them more far from one another;

- crashes of the game because of some parameter or object class absent;

- etc etc (I don't know many of them which professor Michael knows).

So, to create the good track is not easy. Usually people just sent new track to mk and he had to search for bugs. Of course, it was very time intensive for him. Better learn to do it yourself!
