A new Demo Tracks package will be available end of this month, not earlier. You have to wait.

OK, good news.

As I have no more free time, I have tested no track except the "impossible" by matt.

The installer will be easier to test for me...

Alright Michael,

I have beaten your 'unbeatable' time on Survivor by Matt. 1.01.88. Good luck trying to follow it!

My first version for Speedy by Matt is available at my website.

Rock00_Map.tga

I have deleted an earlier post.

There is a bug at "Special Village by Matt" in the Demo version: Different from the Full version you can see in the Demo version a) no ground on the right route, b) soil everywhere.

Solution: Open \Data\Levels\Special\Tracks\Matt_Village\Rock00_Map.tga with a text editor and replace the first bit 08 with 00.

Can anyone tell me, why a Rock00_Map.tga with 08 in the beginning is accepted in the Full version, but not in the Demo version?

What does it mean?

This time you can see the difference at once. But usually you will not see a difference in the Demo version, or not at once. Today I am sure that many of the Special tracks are different in the Demo version. Obviously the Demo version cannot read many of the tga files of the Special tracks, and so it ignores these tga files. It results in a different landscape.

Strange...

If a tga is created by the internal Supreme Editor, automatically the first bit of the tga files becomes 08.

But if you open and re-save a tga file with a program like Photoshop, the first bit becomes 00. This is a second possible solution to fix the bug.

Matt, can you just tell us how you make the high_speed tracks? It should be easy...

Michael, so now you have to change 08 to 00 in all tga files of the Special Tracks and Demo tracks? And we will see different tracks? :)

If you change 08 to 00, you will see the same track in the Full version and in the Demo version.

If you do not change 08 to 00, you will see a different track in the Demo version.

Nice, isn't? So I probably I will have to fix a lot of bugs. As I already wrote before: I am working on a new Demo Tracks package.

Nice! Our goal: 1 million.

As far as I remember I played all available tracks in Demo version (except some very new tracks) and didn't see any difference with Full version. And, in this case, I didn't see difference in MY Demo version for Matt's Village track. I seen difference but then I replaced one text file, and got normal track WITH the old tga file.

Something can be wrong on your computer :)

So you saw a difference, before you replaced a txt file? Which txt file, and what was changed?

Special Tracks Beta

I found bugs. My fault. You will get a new link in 1 or 2 days.

Perhaps I will replace one of the tracks with the new "high-speed by Matt".

It is relatively easy yes. To make a good one gets tough but basically:

- Begin Supreme Editor

- Get the object data from High Speed by ... or just delete all of the objects

- Edit the landscape (alter height) to make a sort of speedway

- Edit the speedway to your preference

- Go to Edit Materials and Paint Soil

- Click everywhere you want soil to appear

- Exit the game and delete Material_bin + 1 + 2 + 3

- Relaunch the game and there it is!

That is the basics.

Land_Materials.txt. Probably the game ran without that TGA at all, so I seen difference, but when I've included right Land_Materials.txt I seen no difference, though I used the same (old) TGA file. Later you sent the new TGA file.

Why replace? You can ADD!

The new track is interesting, though boring as usual for high-speed tracks.

Thanks a lot! I thought you just edit some TGA files. Will try to make some track later.

I found out that the new Rock00_Map.tga (see above) files does not solve the problem any longer. Crazy.

Now I have opened and saved all five big tga files with Photoshop. This solved the problem. Crazy!

There are 9 tracks in the Special Tracks Beta installer. 10 is not possible. So I have to replace one of the tracks, plus I have to fix some bugs.

Michael could replace the Special 4 by Mr K or some other track that is already in the installer.

It took 3 days to create, it isn't bad, but it is hard to create Special Tracks. I'm preparing a realistic track but that may happen towards the end of the year.

Very weird.

I have just come across a weird exception in the game, after I created Survivor (Forest Medium) I began to work on my High Speed track, (Forest Hard), when I added the soil the same soil areas I added were added to Survivor as well. Why?

All big files are created in a folder of an original track. All of them have to be moved to a single folder in the Special tracks folder, or you have this effect.

Check the structure of the files at http://ssb.bplaced.net/update.htm. Check the location and content of Resource_Config.txt and Land_Materials.txt.

Precious time is running away

I've got a heavy time problem. In the past I have invested too much time in the game. Checking and uploading new tracks and races is very, very time intensive. This is not how life should be.

So I made some decisions:

1. The Hall of Fame Special Tracks is officially closed. It will be online for some more months, but there will be no more updates.

2. I will help DeJogg to complete his Special track. Later it shall be available in the Downloads area.

3. I have to stop my support for all other tracks.

4. My other project this month is a bug-fixed Special Tracks Beta installer. You will find it on the Updates page. Before, someone has to send me AI paths for "high-speed by Matt".

5. My very last project until November/December is a new Demo Tracks package (October 2009).

Tooooo bad.

1. I can check races for you (but not immediately)

2. I can upload races to the hall of fame if you will give an access data

3. I think we have already almost finished most of the new tracks

4. How much AI paths needed for HS by Matt? I can make it. But there is only one route ;)

ad 1. My computer is the only one which always shows the worse of two available times.

ad 2. see 1. and information at http://ssb.bplaced.net

ad 3. All new tracks always have lots of bugs.

ad 4. I will do it. 10 more races "just for fun" and that's it.

bad 1. This is your faulty computer. No more "+0.01"! :p

bad 2. To close the hall of fame means "the game is over". Tooo bad.

bad 3. OK but for these new tracks most of the bugs are gone.

bad 4. Thanks. So you have some time yet :D

According to your DAT Analyzer.

Updated version of "high-speed by Matt" with AI paths and current world record as Guide Rider is at http://ssb.bplaced.net/update.htm.

No, not the best. I like mine more.

I've updated MY hall of fame (5 tracks added, 6 races).

Why have you added direct links to your HOF ST? I would like to have link to my page to improve its hits statistics...

The decision is up to Michael. Oleg, you can try and continue the game if you want, I will be updating my HOF but that's about it for me. I was wondering when this time would appear, I'll probably have a lot of spare time after beating all of your records!

And:

Just out of curiosity, what is the debugging process? What do you do?

Another Thing:

Customized buttons are available on my website. They are for my special tracks.

You should know that Oleg and I agreed on beating you on all tracks. As soon as winter comes, you will be the loser. Don't be sad, because you deserve it. :D
