The computer with a 8MB Voodoo Banshee (1x) card (listed correctly) was faster than the second computer that has a 32MB Nvidia GeForce2-TNT (4x) video card (listed as unidentified).

The computer with the Banshee card ran smoothly at all but the highest resolution and color depth settings but the Nvidia card system had problems running at the setting equal to the highest setting the Banshee could run. (choppy and artifacts in the display.)

ok here im going with my specs:

p4 2,4 ghz

512 ram

geforce4 ti4600

sb live platinum

dx 8.1

and it is running like hell :D

but: everybody has an individual configuration. i dont think, that only the videocard causes problems....if you know, what i mean...sorry for my bad english :(

What release (version)?

I was wondering if there are various releases (versions) that made it to the real world. The release number is displayed in the upper right corner of the screen when you start up a race. I have release 1.034.

If anyone has a different 'release' please post. Sometimes different versions of software have different capabilities/features and I would like to know if anyone has a version that supports the 'split-screen' multiplayer feature.

Guide rider

How can I save a record run as the 'guide' rider or a computer rider (ghost?) in tracks other than the time attack?

mk2705

11-26-2002 03:43 PM

Don't have the full version installed now but think the guide file is easy to find. Search in your program directory for files guide.dat or similar. You will find those files for all routes and can exchange them easily.

There is an alternative way to watch your record runs for Canyon Run, Village Hills and Rooftops: You only need the Demo (downloadable at ftp://ftp.infogrames.net/demos/boarder-zone/bzdemo.exe) and have to exchange the Demo_Replay.dat then.

Any new information on editing the tracks.

Specifically, anyone know how to get the 'terrain' (ground textures) editing mode to accept and keep the changes made?

Hi all! I've been trying to play Boarder Zone online with Kali (www.kali.net)... but to no avail. There should be some way!! Fjguarino, c'mon man, work something out :) :) :)

You've all done a nice job at this thread :D nice ideas.

You guys can also extract the music thru the PC's line-out... connect for e.g. a minidisc, and record the tracks that way. It sounds alright. I'm gonna try that other method just to see if quality gets any better.

PLEASE

Hey people,

Please contact housemarque, the people who develoed the game, at http://www.housemarque.com/ and ask for help.

I have contacted them looking for solutions to the various problems with the game, but they stated that they have not received as many inquiries concerning 'boarder zone' as they have gotten for 'supreme snowboarding' and thus feel there are no problems.

(There are fixes for supreme snowboarding.)

BoarderArg

11-28-2002 10:23 AM

To be perfectly honest with you... i worked around all the problems it presented, and haven't had any other mishaps. I was even able to install and play under a Win98 VMware installation inside WinXP (default OS in my system; SP1). :) But you're right, there are no patches for this one... they should at least have released an update to 1.035 or something like that.

The most important question is, do they (kali.net) even have a server running boarder zone or supreme snowboarding?

If so, what problems are you having. I had set up a server to run this game a couple of years back, but I violated the service agreement with the cable internet provider I was using and they kicked me off.

One thing I do have to give housemarque credit for is that running a multiplayer LAN game works.

I would aso like to know if online game play is possible with a dial-up connection.

Windows 2000 fix

What you need is the 'March 2001 package' of microsofts windows 2000 compatibilty update to get boarder zone to work.

It might work for XP!

Information can be found here:

Unfortunatly microsuck does not have that particular download available anymore.

They want you to get service pack 3 instead. So now you have to download things you most likely do not need. The original download was only 360KB.

If you get sp3, you will open up your machine to microsuck's prying eyes. (similar to xp)

You have to alter the service pack's installation in order to defeat this so called 'enhancement'.

See the following for more information:

Online Play

Good to see things happening with this game!

I would also like to try to play 'online'.

I have set up the game to run with the 'kali' software and I am wondering how to get playing, but I do not know if it is possible to play with a dial-up connection.

I assume someone has to 'host' the game first. If so, WHEN?

BoarderArg

Man, have been trying to play with Kali... it's no use. What about VPN?? I've asked in WinXP chatrooms and some said it "could be possible" and other said "it won't work":

[18:03] : Tomyjade : i tried VPN'ing only lanbased games and it wasn't able to work properly, VPN technology isn't as robust as it should be

[18:03] <BoarderARG> what do u mean "work properly"? you were able to play but it crashed?

[18:04] : Tomyjade : think about it...

[18:04] : Tomyjade : when you connect to a VPN server

[18:04] : Tomyjade : whats happening

[18:04] : Tomyjade : the server gives the client a Virtual ip

[18:05] : Tomyjade : try pinging that virtual IP =)

[18:05] <BoarderARG> lol, i dunno m8, i'm a complete n00b to VPN... i just wanted to know if it would work, before reading how to build it

[18:05] : Tomyjade : won't work

[18:06] : Tomyjade : cause there some protocol that has to be modified for it to work properly, i haven't figured it out yet

[18:06] <BoarderARG> and do you know if there's some other way to play games like that?

[18:07] : Tomyjade : well, most lan games support IPX

[18:07] : Tomyjade : you can set up a server on a IPX based server software

Then i told him that this game only supported TCP/IP (as far as i know)... and he mentioned another online gaming community:

http://www.kahncentral.net/ ---> the problem with this one is that the soft WON'T run under win2000/XP.

VPN links:

http://support.real-time.com/windows...ws_xp_vpn.html

http://www.rochester.edu/its/telecom...als/winxp.html

http://vpn.shmoo.com/

I'm too tired to try this VPN thing, but if anyone figures it out, i'd be glad to help test it :D
