Board Meeting

HAPPY NEW YEAR! The first meeting of 2021 was our monthly board meeting. Once again, because of the pandemic, we’re still meeting virtually. Today, 27 Lions were able to participate.

Lion President Carrie called the meeting to order and the musical duo of Lions Lundgren & Bembenek led us in singing “My Country Tis of Thee”. Lion Carrie led the Pledge of Allegiance, gave the blessing and asked for the end of this horrible disease.

Lion Ed Heiden gave the secretaries report which was approved.  He informed us we received a thank you letter from Lory’s Place for our donation. Treasure Lion Micah presented the club’s financial statement and reported we are still in good shape.

Lion Carrie introduced Lion District Governor, Julie Mayuiers. DG Julie announced that this years International Convention in Montreal has been officially canceled. This and many other national, state, and district activities have been affected by this pandemic. She indicated that the District is working to determine which activities may still be possible in the coming months.  They will continue to do as many virtual events as feasible. She also complemented our Saint Joseph Club for continuing to carry on our activities as we are one of the few clubs in the District who are doing so.

Lion Carrie reported that the Average Joes, Saint Joseph High School’s robotic team, has now been able to get back to work.  At the present time, there will not be any normal competitions, but they will be competing virtually with teams from around the world. She also announced that the Average Joe’s Home Site(The Edward Todd Innovation Center, which the Saint Joseph Lions support) has been selected as one of only three sites in the State to host competitions when it becomes possible to hold regular events in the future.

We then proceeded with our normal process of receiving reports from our various committees. It was great to have so many members participate virtually with us today and we look forward to being able to meet in-person real soon. The bottom line is, that WE SERVE, in spite of this horrible pandemic. STAY SAFE!
