November 12,2020 Board  Meeting

Well. the weather is getting colder and the Covid-19 Pandemic appears to be getting worse, so we wil need to meet virtually for the foreseeable future. The meeting was called to order by Lion President Carrie Brunsting. We honored our country with "My Country Tis of Thee", the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a prayer. We also honored All service members, verterans and especially our Lion. Lion Veterans. Lion Carrie, in her president's report, announcd that we would be partnering with the Berrien Foundation in a oroject they are doing for County seniors. This is another way that we serve the community. We approved the secreatry's and treasure's reports and then went on with committee reports. There wasn't much to report for most committees becaus of the current pandemic. Hopefully we will get a grasp on this pandemic and get back to some sence of normalty. In the meantime we are looking for ways we can SERVE during this pandemic. We will still keep collelcting used eyeglasses, helping those in need, supporting schools in the St. Joseph area and work with the City of St. Joseph on Civic imprvement to name a few.

Due to the Pandemic our fundraising efforts have been severly limited. We have had to cancel our Annual  Arts & Crafts Show, which is our largest fundraiser, and our Middle School Basketball Tournament.  Fortunately, under the direction of Lion Tom Gazella, we had a successful White Cane Sale. For the first time we were able to sollicit on-line donations, conduct a mail campaign and had a limited street collection. Lion Tom reported that we received a liitle over $6,000 for the sale. Not quire our goal but it will definitely help us to provide some of the services we have done in the past. It should be noted that the White Cane Sale provides only about one third of our yearly budget for the services we provide. We thank those who supported the  sale. With that said, we pledge to continue seeking  new ways TO SERVE as best we can during these hard times..
