The Claw, an award-winning newsletter from the St. Joseph Lions Club, has been a hallmark of our club's communication since 1928. While it has evolved over time, from its humble typewritten beginnings with carbon paper to its current digital format, it remains a vital link for our members, potential recruits, past contributors, and a wide network of officers and organizations spanning the zone, district, state, and even international levels.
Each issue of The Claw provides a comprehensive overview of our weekly club meetings. It features reports on the program of the week, recaps of upcoming event announcements, and insightful retrospectives on our past activities. Additionally, readers can enjoy highlights of our dedicated Lion Tamer and Tail Twister's activities, a guest list to acknowledge those in attendance, and any other relevant updates as deemed important by the current editor.
You'll also find essential information in each issue, such as a roster of the club's current officers, zone and district officials, and a list of esteemed past presidents who have guided our club over the years. Moreover, we proudly present an up-to-date membership roster for our club, ensuring that our readers stay well-informed.
Behind the scenes, "The Claw" is crafted by six devoted volunteer editors, each taking on a two-month period of responsibility to ensure that our newsletter continues to inform, engage, and connect our Lions Club community.
The newsletters of all District 11-B2 Lion Clubs are judged annually by a District committee and the best are presented awards. The top award is the traveling “Shorty Flora Memorial Award”. The Claw has received this prestigious award 8 times:
