October 22, 2020 Meeting

Well, it was time for another virtual meeing. It would sure be nice to be able to meet at our normal meeting location and be together for lunch and a vibrant meeting. In the meantime we will practice social distancing until we can bring this virus under control.

At today's meeting we were fortuane to have two guest speakers from Lake Michigan College. They were, Doug Schaffer, Vice President of Advancement & Community Impact and Mike Nadolski, Executive Director Mendel Center Operations.

Doug reprted that things are going well at LMC despite the pandemic. Unlike some other educational institutions, LMC has been able to experience very low Covid-19 cases. Most classes are being taught virtually except for those that require hands-on experiences. These are being held in person while practicing proper social distancing and safety percautions.

Mike reported this has been, indeed, a challenging time for the performing arts and other activities at the Mendel Center. During this time the Center has undergone some need maintenance. In addition several virtual performances have been offered. He said they are hopefull planning to return to "normal" programming for this spring if we can get this virus under control.

We also continued our Lions Pride program where we learn more about our Lion members.Today we heard from 3 members of the same Lion family,  Lion Vern Breuker, his daughter Lion President Carrie Brunsting, and Lion Vern's grand-daughter and Lion Carrie's daughter, Lion Morgan Brunsting.

After all of this we continued on with our nornal meeting activities. Below is a video slideshow(I'm trying out some new software) of the meeting.

Today's version of "My Country Tis of Thee" was sung by the U.S. Navy Sea Chanters. This a different and inspiring arrangement.  to. Listen all the way to the end ... you will be inspired.
