There's a 5 mile walk along the Puyallup river.
Access points with parking:
North side of River Road at 11th St NW
4th St NW at Skateboard park
400 block between 8th ave NE and 9th Ave NE (on 5th St NE, it appears)
Under SR 512 at 2nd Ave NE (good for doing the southern part of the route)
Trail is along the river, except from corner of 9th Ave NE & 5th St NE, where it goes on sidewalk of 5th St NE (away from river) to 2nd ave, continuing on 2nd Ave NE (up river) to under SR 512, and then back along the river.
Mike's notes:
I've walked it twice now, once in its entirety (we parked near the Skateboard park), and once from SR 512 upstream. I like skipping the city street part. Also, I think I prefer the southern part of the walk.
At the end of the walk (at Mama Stortini's), one can cross a bridge to the other side of the river and explore a small peninsula.
Also, at the end of the walk, go under the bridge to get a view of Mt Rainier across fields. Beautiful!
