FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Lucas County Probate Court to Close for System Upgrade on January 27-28
Judge Jack Puffenberger is announcing that the Lucas County Probate Court will be closed on January 27 and 28, 2025, to upgrade to a new case management system aimed at improving court processes and services to the public.
During this time, all court operations will be temporarily suspended, and staff will be unavailable to assist with filings or queries. The court expects to resume normal operations on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.
The system upgrade marks a significant step forward in the court's ongoing efforts to modernize its operations. Key changes to payment processing will be implemented as part of the transition. Going forward, the Probate Court will adopt a "pay to play" model, where payments will be required when documents are filed, rather than taking deposits in advance. This new approach streamlines court operations and ensures more efficient processing of cases.
The upgraded case management system will offer numerous benefits to users, including the ability to accept credit card payments, enable e-filing for documents, and introduce other convenient features designed to improve accessibility and overall service to the public.
The Probate Court encourages everyone to plan ahead for the closure and take note of the upcoming changes to the payment process. Further updates and details about the new case management system will be available on the Lucas County Probate Court website and through official communications following the system's launch.
