Position Opening - Toledo Bar Association Bar Counsel 

We are sharing with you the announcement below by the Toledo Bar Association regarding the opening for a Bar Counsel position:

The Toledo Bar Association is accepting applications for the position of Bar Counsel.

The ideal candidate should be able to provide legal advice and administrative oversight to the Grievance, Grievance Investigation, Fee Arbitration and UPL Committees of the TBA; manage the dockets of the committees; attend and participate in meetings and deliberations of those committees; conduct initial review of incoming grievances; investigate and supervise the investigation of grievances; assist, advise, and manage volunteer attorneys in investigation and prosecution of disciplinary cases; draft and supervise the drafting of pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents; represent the committees and the TBA as lead counsel in disciplinary and other litigation, including Supreme Court practice; maintain the minutes and records of the committees; provide guidance to members of the TBA on ethical issues; present CLEs on disciplinary issues; other duties as designated by the Executive Director.

Minimum Qualifications Include:

seven years of membership in good standing of the Bar of Ohio;

significant litigation and appellate experience;

familiarity with a variety of practice areas;

familiarity with civil and Supreme Court practice;

familiarity with the Ohio Rules of Professional Conduct, Code of Judicial Conduct, and Gov. Bar Rule V procedures;

experience in disciplinary cases as a Certified Grievance Committee member or a comparable position;

reputation within legal community for high ethical standards, integrity and professionalism.

This is a full-time salaried position, available approximately July 1, 2022. No outside legal practice is permitted. Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications. Excellent benefits package and work environment.
