God's mystery expounded
God’s ways far transcend our puny human capabilities.
“Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been his counselor?”
35 “Who has ever given to God,
that God should repay him?”
Reflecting the thinking of Isaiah (40:13) and Job (41:11), Paul poses three rhetorical questions, each of which leads us to acknowledge that absolutely no one gave God any help with devising the marvelous plan of salvation where mercy predominates. Hence there is but one possible reaction, and that is to give all glory to the triune God.
36 For from him and through him and to him are all things.
To him be the glory forever! Amen.
