Nehemiah 9:6–8

God's goodness in creation (Genesis 1,2)

Blessed be your glorious name, and may it be exalted above all blessing and praise. 6You alone are the LORD. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you.

God’s goodness in calling Abraham (Genesis 12,15)

7 “You are the LORD God, who chose Abram and brought him out of Ur of the Chaldeans and named him Abraham. 8 You found his heart faithful to you, and you made a covenant with him to give to his descendants the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Jebusites and Girgashites. You have kept your promise because you are righteous.

This first section of the psalm reviews God's goodness at the beginning of history and the beginning of the nation.

Of special interest is the phrase at the end of 9:6, "the multitudes of heaven worship you." This is another way of saying that all the holy angels worship God. So do all the stars and galaxies. What an immense army! More: what a glorious, all-powerful God we have! Why would he care about anyone? Would he choose to single out and bless the family of Abraham?

Whether or not they have the blood of Abraham in their veins, he still chooses in Christ to be kind to all those who have the faith of Abraham in their hearts.
