A 3x3x3 hexagonal board and nineteen uniform counters are required for play. The counters are undifferentiated as to ownership.

Objective

Nineteen is played as misère game where the winner forces their opponent to remove the last counter.

Play

The game commences with every cell of the board occupied by a counter. Alternate turns entail the removal of counters from the board. On their turn a player may perform any one of the following:

  • remove a single counter

  • remove two adjacent counters

  • remove three counters which all constitute part of a triangle
