Le Grec
No. of Players
Two
Equipment
A 3x3 square grid and seven each of black and white counters are required for play.
History
This game was invented by Domnique Huguenin and Yves Chédel.
Objective
This is a game of traversal and thus the player that wins is the first to place all of his counters in the two rows opposite from where they started.
Play
Counters are played at the intersections and commence as above. After deciding which player will go first, alternate turns entail a move of one friendly counter, orthogonally or diagonally, to an empty node, or a jump over an enemy counter (no jumps over friendly counters) landing on the immediate next node, without capture. Every move/jump must be forwards or sideways and never backwards.
