Equipment

A standard 8x8 checkerboard and thirty-one or twenty-four counters of any color are required for play.

History

Objective

The goal is to remove, by short jump and capture moves, all but one counter on the board. Sometimes rules gives ranks to players depending upon how many counters are left on the board when they have no more jumps to be made. For example:

Play

One of the two opening positions shown above is used. A turn entails a diagonal short jump over any other diagonally adjacent counter to land at vacant cell just after the counter being jumped. Jumps may be in any diagonal direction. Every move must be a jump move. Jumped counters are removed from the board.

Strategy

Variations

As shown above, there are two different opening positions. The game could probably be adapted to larger draughts boards as well.
