Objective:

The student will know:

  • How to get an account on polleverywhere.com

  • How to use at least three of the types of polls

  • How to set up one type of poll

Materials:

  • Internet connection

  • Laptop

  • Presentation

  • Powerpoint Demo

  • Google Slide Demo

Preparation:

  • Get an account ahead of time & familiarize yourself with PollEverywhere

  • Create "What's your prior experience with PollEverywhere?" Poll

  • Create "How are we doing" Poll

  • Create "How was the session" Poll

  • Come up with a test question for the various polls that you are going to create. Here are some that you can use for each activity type.

    • Multiple Choice - "What paramita is difficult for you?"

      • Dana, Sila, Ksanti, Dhyana, Viriya, Prajna

    • Word Cloud : "What word comes to mind when you hear "Shinran Shonin?"

    • Q&A : "What is the most important thing in Dharma School?"

    • Clickable Image : "What countries do you consider Buddhist?"

    • Emotion Scale : "How are you right now?"

    • Open-Ended: "What Buddhist lesson that comes to mind first? Why do you think you remember this?"

    • Competition: (not needed)

    • Survey: (not needed)

Method:

  1. Conduct a poll of who has heard or worked with PollEverywhere

  2. If time permits, use the YouTube introductory video

  3. Introduce the "How are we doing" Poll to gauge responses through the presentation

  4. Go through the presentation

  5. Create each type of presentation

    1. Multiple Choice - Limited response/Choices - "Prior Experience" is Multiple Choice, Show set up but don't Do (since it's already been done)

    2. Word Cloud - Gauging moods/consensus - "How are we doing" is a Word Cloud. Show set up, but don't Do

    3. Q&A - Open ended response, gauging consensus/disagreement - "What is the most important part of Dharma School?" is a Q&A. Show setup and Do. Note: only on Web only.

    4. Clickable Image - Maps, Pictorial responses - Web only. Try

    5. Emotion Scale - Five picture to gauge feeling/response. Try (if time permits)

    6. Open-Ended - Mention only.

    7. Competition - Mention only.

    8. Survey - Gathering response from group - multiple questions using all other types of questions - Mention Only
