Status: MODERATED
After this lesson, the students will realize the chain of causal events that allow him/her to live the life that he/she lives.
Answering the questions: what did I receive? and what did I give?
Markers or Crayons
Blank paper
For younger children and/or if you are short on time, have pictures of potential items already cut out from cereal boxes and magazine photos.
Pass out markers or crayons and paper to each student
Talk through the process of what they had for breakfast. Have them draw those things to the picture.
For younger children, have them glue things from precut pictures
Ask where/how/who for each item. Questions might be:
Where did you get the item? Ex: Where did you get the milk? (the fridge)
Was it always in the fridge?
Where was it before? (the store)?
Who went to the store?
If time permits, ask them to actively talk thru how they get ready for bed? Who helps? What they do?
At the end, either ask the student to share or the teacher (after asking permission from the student) shares the drawing.
Make sure that during the questioning, each student has at least one thing that is of the "second level" (like the store level)
By using precut pictures and glue sticks, this activity can be taught to PreK students.
