Making Sushi for a Loved One

    • 3rd - 5th

    • Parent's Day Activity (or recognize the important role model in alternative families) Focus on Questions 1 & 2 of the Naikan questions

    • Think about and make sushi (choose a easy-to-make sushi appropriate for the grade level) as a gift to their parent

    • Break down into separate elements of the sushi - nori, rice, other ingredients

    • Talk about the origin of each and chain of events that created the ingredient and how that item came to be here.

    • Discuss what the student receives from their parent

    • Provoke the idea of what did they need to receive in order to make the sushi.

    • For Question 3 could discuss waster, mess created by making the sushi
