Learn about one of the Dharma School teachers:
Understand why they began teaching
Know what they enjoy most about teaching
Learn what they are most proud of
Understand the importance of being a role-model
Learn ways to be a positive influence
Observe the actions that are done as a role-model (living the Golden Chain)
Be able to relate this lesson to our essential teachings
Interdependence (how this person affected the lives of our Sangha)
Eightfold Path: Right Effort (recognizing the hard work and dedication), Right Speech (spreading our teachings)
Interview questions samples
Paper to take notes or method to record the answers (Smart phone dictation app)
Find examples of influential women to use as examples (Eshinni, Kakushinni, Lady Kujo). Make sufficient copies or presentation to project.
Prepare some sample interview questions
Conduct a discussion on why it’s important to discover the knowledge within our temple or family members
Review sample interview questions and agree on the final outcome (oral report, short video, etc.)
Set a deadline to complete this project
Decide to work in teams or individually
Divide the class into smaller groups to plan the project
Execute the project steps
At the end of the project conduct class discussion for evaluation
Plan to share the final projects and debrief what worked, didn’t work, what they would do differently in the future.
Have a discussion on what they learned.
Consider the personalities of the students for pairing groups. For example, if you have more outgoing students, pair them with the ones who are shy or tend to be quiet.
Be flexible with the subject of the interview. Instead of a Dharma School Teacher, it can be a coach, school teacher, or relative.
Timing: This may take a few weeks to complete so schedule your class lessons accordingly.
