Objective:

  • The student will know 3 basic facts about Shinran Shonin

Materials:

  • Shinran-o Fact Cards (Attachment 1)

  • Shinran-o Game Cards (17 in all + one blank)(Attachment 2)

  • Shinran-o Blank Game Cards (Attachment 3)

Preparation:

  • Print Shinran-o Game Cards for the class. All should be unique. If needed, use the Blank cards to create additional unique cards.

    • Print out the Shinran Cards on blank business cards. You can use Avery #8371)

    • Print out the Game Cards on cardstock if possible.

  • Print and cut out the Fact Cards

Method:

  1. Introduce game

  2. Read the rules

    1. The game is played just like bingo.

    2. The reader randomly selects the Shinran card and reads it. The entire class can try to answer.

    3. If they have the answer on their Game Card, they can check the box off

    4. You should decide if you want a small prize (like candy) for the winner(s)

  3. Play a practice round of one or two questions

  4. Play actual game Play several rounds as time permits; Can allow common variations such as 4 corners (4 corners covered), Roving L(Row and Column), and Blackout(Board completely covered)

  5. Review some of the facts they learned and ask what Shinran fact they found interesting

Evaluation:

  • Discussion of interesting facts.
