This was another great week! There were lots of activities going on in the classrooms.
This school was flowing in pink on Wednesday. It definitely "made my heart happy". I say it everywhere I go, We have the best teachers, staff, students, families, and parishioners ever. Many of you have reached out to see if you could order the pink " You make my heart happy". If you would like to order one, please let me know. They do have kids sizes. Thank you.
Please remember to follow our uniform policy. The only spirit wear that can be worn on a normal school day for K4-2nd is a spirit wear sweatshirt over a school polo. Crocs are not allowed.

VIP DAY
October 23 is VIP (Very Important Person) day. It is a day that students can bring their VIP's to a breakfast at school. We will welcome students with their VIP's at the start of the school day until 8:00. We will have a craft for everyone to work on together during breakfast in the gym as well as time to see the student classrooms. Mass is at 8:15 so the VIP's can attend mass if they choose with their student. We would love for you to join us! Please fill out the google form here letting us know who will be attending this special day. Limit to 2 VIP's per student
DINE AND Donate
Join us on Oct. 22nd at A & W on for our 1st fundraiser of the year. The time is from 4:00 - 8:00. You can dine in or go through the drive thru. St. Sebastian School will get 20% of all sales. Just let them know you are with St. Sebastian STEM Academy.

Pet Blessing
This Saturday, October 4th, we will be having our Pet Blessing with Fr. Juan. We will meet in the front of the school (between the school and church) at 11:00 a.m by the statue of St. Francis. After the prayer service, we are all invited to the school gym for light refreshments. Hot dogs and chips will be provided by the church. Bring your animals over to get them blessed.
K3 - This week our class started the 3rd annual Apple Fest. We started the week off by tasting a red, green, and yellow apple and choosing our favorite. We then created a table/chart to figure out which apple was the class favorite. For the first time ever, yellow won. By listening to stories and watching videos, students learned how an apple grows from a seed and how it can be picked and harvested from an orchard. A few students even shared about when they went to pick apples at a nearby orchard with their families. We then talked about all of the fun foods that are made with apples and have been taste testing them all week. So far we have tasted apple donuts, apple cider, apple pie, and apple muffins. Every 3K student has been a risk-taker by trying something new or different all week long. We also discussed how an apple is alike and different from other fruits that grow on trees; such as a banana, an orange, and a lime.
K4 - This week we have started talking about the three basic human needs: food, water, and shelter. We also talked about the letter p and the sound it makes. So for STEM we made a shelter for a panda bear and a platform for the panda to play piano on with various building toys in class.
K5 - This week in Science students did an activity to introduce them to "friction." We had 2 sets of large plastic blocks - one plain and one wrapped in sandpaper. Students pulled each block - separately and then together in order to feel the difference friction has on the pull. We then pulled each block on a sheet of felt.
Ask them what happened! (The sandpaper block was extremely difficult to pull - if at all.) We also went to the gym and "pushed and pulled" on scooters!
In Math, we have begun our next Topic - Count, Make, and Write numbers to 10.
1st & 2nd Grade - We talked about the sun rising and setting along with the days getting shorter during the winter season.

Please try and stick to the meals that you signed up for. You will be charged for what you signed up for unless you notify us the day before for breakfast or the morning of for lunch. At the beginning of each month, I will send you 2 copies of the breakfast and lunch menu. One is to return to school, and the other is for you to keep at home. If you need a copy of your child's menu, please let me know and I will get one to you.
New this year is the option for Chocolate milk at lunch only for grades K5 - 2nd grade. The students will get to pick either chocolate or white milk. Thank you.
Our lunches are all served kid friendly, if it says Orange Chicken, everything will be served in separate sections. So basically it is chicken nuggets unless they choose to dip it in the orange sauce. Hope this helps.

If Your Child Is Sick
If you will be checking out your child early on a school day, please call Ms. Lori at the school office or Dojo her. Thank you.
Please report your sick child to the main office 262-425-0009 before 7:45 a.m. Also, please remember that the school day starts at 7:25 a.m. If you are running late, please bring your child through the main doors and sign them in at the main office. If your child comes to school after 7:45, breakfast will be over. Thank you!
Just a reminder that your child needs to be 24 hrs. fever and/or vomit free before they can return to school.
Please share this information with anyone who is dropping-off or picking-up your student. Here is a video that explains our drop-off and pick-up procedures. Here is map that shows a visual and here are written directions. Our school hours are from 7:25-2:25. Drop off starts at 7:05. Students who are not picked up by 2:35 will be brought to the office and will need to be picked up from the front of the school.

We are in need of volunteers! Our areas of need include lunch, recess, mass, music, art, and physical education. We are also looking for monthly speakers to talk about their STEM-related careers. If you are interested in volunteering please call us at 262-425-0009 or email Lori Prideaux at lprideaux@sienacatholicschools.org.
In order to volunteer in our building or at any school events you need to have a background check and have completed the Safe Environment Training. There are many options available online in our area. If you do not remember if you have had this training in the past please reach out to me and I can look you up in our system. Please share this with anyone you know that is interested in volunteering at the school. I highly recommend doing this if you plan on being involved in any school events.
