3K - This week we focused on rainbows within our classroom in honor of St. Patrick's Day and the start of Spring. We learned to look for them after it rains, because they need sunlight and water droplets to form. Our class learned the 7 colors that can be found within a rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. To remember these colors, we used pipe cleaners, beads, crayons, and markers to create rainbows of our own. Our class also continued to water the seeds we planted last week using our PLTW pipettes. Thanks to water, sunlight, and God's love, 17 of us have had our seeds sprout up throughout the week.
4K - This week 4K students continued working on positional words and directional words. They watched a few fun videos where they had to find the hidden letters and then using positional and directional words tell each other where the letters were. Students also listened to a story and discussed where things in the pictures were; for example, on top of, inside, behind.
5K - This week in STEM we continue to collect weather data. We have begun learning about severe weather. We know how the thunder sound is produced and how lightning is formed in the sky. We enjoyed listening to a fun book titled "Tap, Tap, Boom, BOOM."
On St. Partrick's Day we all wore green and did a quick activity observing how and why Skittles dissolve in a rainbow pattern.
1st grade - 1st grade began exploring data in math. We began working with tally marks to keep track of different data sets. We then organized the data into several categories. We also answered questions to analyze the data, such as figuring out which set is the biggest versus the smallest or which group was the most popular.
