Trunk or Treat held by St. Sebastian parish is this Sunday in the back parking lot from 2:00-4:00. You must be safeguarded to hand out candy otherwise feel free to park in the front of the school and walk around to trick or treat with your family.
Thursday, October 31st, will be a dress down day for Halloween. Students are invited to wear black and orange. We will not be doing costumes in school but students can wear them to Trunk or Treat on Saturday. Each classroom will be having their own Halloween party and each student will be picking out a pumpkin in our back grassy area thanks to a generous donation.

Pics of the Week
Our student of the week this week is Evelyn from our 3K classroom! She is a leader in mass, a friend to all of her classmates, and has been working hard on her healthy habits! She even learned how to put on her jacket all by herself. We are so blessed to have Evelyn as part of our St. Sebastian STEM Academy family.
3K - As a part of PLTW, our class finished looking at items we use at home to stay clean and healthy. We read the book Sick Simon, and learned all about germs and how they spread. We learned how important it is to cover our sneezes and coughs, and to stay home and rest when we are sick so we keep others healthy. Our class also reviewed how to wash our hands with soap and water while singing The A, B, C's. During Art and Carpet Time we finished learning about owls and bats and their nighttime activities. We added little eyes and big ears to our black bats so they could see and hear while flying at night. Students used feathers to paint their brown owls white and black (gray), adding large yellow eyes and a beak once they were dry. We even pretended to use our own "talons" (hands) to come in for a landing onto our "branches" (arms).
4K - We are getting close to wrapping up our unit on living and nonliving things. This week we are going to start talking about the purpose of a bird feeder and begin discussing the design process so they design their own bird feeder next week.
5K - We have been learning about our 5 senses in Reading/Language Arts this week. We have done touch, smell, taste, and hearing sensory tests. In Math, we have completed our chapter on reading, writing, and making numbers 6-10.
1st grade - We finished their unit in science on sunlight and UV rays. They worked with their groups to build a model of a structure that can provide shade for a playground. The students used all kinds of materials: paper, plates, cups, pipe cleaners, foil, straws, and more. They did a great job of working together and coming up with creative solutions to the problem.

Fall conferences are mandatory for every student. If you are unable to attend conferences this date, please reach out to your student’s teacher to come up with a different date or time to meet. Please report your sick child to the main office 262-425-0009 before 7:45am. Also, please remember that the day starts at 7:25, if you are running late, please bring your child through the main doors and sign them in to the main office. If your child comes to school after 7:45, breakfast will be over. Thank you!
Also, if you will be checking out your child early on a school day, please call Ms. Lori at the school office. Teachers do not always get a chance to look at their email or Dojo during the school day. Thank you.
Just a reminder that your child needs to be 24 hrs. fever and/or vomit free before they can return to school.

Please try and stick to the meals that you signed up for. At the beginning of each month I will send you 2 copies of the breakfast and lunch menu. One is to return to school, and the other is for you to keep at home. If you need a copy of your child's October menu, please let me know and I will get one to you. Thank you
Our lunches are all served kid friendly, if it says orange Chicken, everything will be served in separate containers. So basically it is chicken nuggets unless they choice to dip it in the orange sauce. Hope this helps.

Trunk or Treat
Trunk or Treat held by St. Sebastian Parish will be on Sunday, October 27th from 2-4pm. Per Archdiocese policy, you must be safe guarded in order to pass out candy. The event will be set up in the back parking lot. If you are not handing out candy and are just joining for the trick or treating please park in front of school and walk around.

We had 71 girls and guys show up and it was a combination of st Lucys and st Sebastian schools. The enjoyed pizza, soda and All the girls got a photo and a bowling patch.
Each month, the girls will do activities to learn about and grow in each of the areas represented by each of the Daisy petals. Additionally, the girls will earn “fun patches” by participating in events and service opportunities around the community!

Please share this information with anyone who is dropping-off or picking-up your student. Here is a video that explains our drop-off and pick-up procedures. Here is map that shows a visual and here are written directions. Our school hours are from 7:25-2:25. Drop off starts at 7:05. Students who are not picked up by 2:35 will be brought to the office and will need to be picked up from the front of the school.
You can find our uniform policy here. Please note, students must be in closed toed and closed-back shoes. No sandals or crocs.
We are in need of volunteers! Our areas of need include lunch, recess, mass, music, art, and physical education. We are also looking for monthly speakers to talk about their STEM-related careers. If you are interested in volunteering please call us at 262-425-0009 or email Mrs. McCauley at amccauley@sienacatholicschools.org.
In order to volunteer in our building or at any school events you need to have a background check and have completed the Safe Environment Training. There are many options available online in our area. If you do not remember if you have had this training in the past please reach out to me and I can look you up in our system. Please share this with anyone you know that is interested in volunteering at the school. I highly recommend doing this if you plan on being involved in any school events.
