It was a fun week full of learning in the classrooms. This week I saw 3K planting seeds, 4K working on letters and counting, 5K chaining words together and learning about the seasons, 1st grade completing STEM challenges, reading, and writing. I am always amazed at the learning and growth that takes place daily in our building. With the warm weather this week, we were all excited to see the bulbs we planted in the fall starting to pop up around the school. We look forward to watching them grow this spring.
Monday, March 17th, will be a dress down day for St. Patrick's Day. Students are invited to wear green with jeans or sweat pants.
Tuesday, March 18th, is a dine and donate night for our school at Panera from 4:00-8:00. Please find more information below.

April 10th is VIP (Very Important Person) day. It is a day that students can bring their VIP's to a breakfast at school. We will welcome students with their VIP's at the start of the school day until 8:00. We will have a craft for everyone to work on together during breakfast in the gym as well as time to see the student classrooms. Mass is at 8:15 so the VIP's can attend mass if they choose. Please fill out the google form here letting us know who will be attending this special day. Limit to 2 VIP's per student.
On March 18th, we will have our Panera Fundraiser. Attached here is the flyer from Panera. Bring this flyer or show a digital copy to your cashier when ordering at the cafe to ensure that St. Sebastian gets a portion of sales. This is a great fundraiser! Panera will donate 25% of all net sales.
Our student of the week this week is Alise from our 4K classroom. She has been very kind to her fellow students and is a great leader in class. She has been working hard on her letters and counting! We are so blessed to have Alise as part of our St. Sebastian STEM Academy family.
3K - This week our class planted seeds as we focused on the ways we can all grow in God's love throughout Lent. Each student added their own soil, seeds, and water to a small pot, while God added the sunlight. We will watch as our seeds become marigolds as we continue to add a little more water and love each day. On Thursday, we were all able to observe the first little green shoots sprouting up from the bulbs each class planted last fall. Those we planted around our "classroom's tree" are just peeking through the grass. During Calendar Time we continued describing our recess weather; focusing on how we can feel the wind, but not see it.
4K - This week 4K continued our spatial sense and coding unit and read two stories that contained positional words and directional words. They also completed a picture where they had to draw a dog house next to a bench. 4K students also continued to practice which hand is their left during the pledge of allegiance in the morning.
5K - This week the 5K is finishing up our Math chapter on composing/decomposing numbers 11-19.
In Science, we have been learning about the 4 Seasons - what causes them, what they look/feel like, and how they affect our daily life. In small groups, we observed photos, grouped them by season, and gave reasons (evidence based on what we have learned in class or what we have experienced) for our choices. We continue to collect daily weather data (looking for patterns) as well.
1st grade - 1st grade spent our week completing St. Patrick's Day STEM challenges during science. We had a race to build the longest rainbow built from Fruit Loops and pipecleaners. Then we made catapults from popsicle sticks to see who could shoot their Lucky Charm marshmallow the farthest. Finally, we made our own paper straw rockets to have a Leprechaun Launch where we sent our little leprechauns flying. It was a fun week of collaboration and problem solving.

Please report your sick child to the main office 262-425-0009 before 7:45am. Also, please remember that the day starts at 7:25, if you are running late, please bring your child through the main doors and sign them in to the main office. If your child comes to school after 7:45, breakfast will be over. Thank you!
Just a reminder that your child needs to be 24 hrs. fever and/or vomit free before they can return to school.

Please try and stick to the meals that you signed up for. You will be charged for what you signed up for unless you notify us the day before for breakfast or the morning of for lunch. At the beginning of each month I will send you 2 copies of the breakfast and lunch menu. One is to return to school, and the other is for you to keep at home. If you need a copy of your child's menu, please let me know and I will get one to you. Thank you
Our lunches are all served kid friendly, if it says orange Chicken, everything will be served in separate sections. So basically it is chicken nuggets unless they choice to dip it in the orange sauce. Hope this helps.

Each month, the girls will do activities to learn about and grow in each of the areas represented by each of the Daisy petals. Additionally, the girls will earn “fun patches” by participating in events and service opportunities around the community!
If your daughter is in 5k or 1st grade, please consider joining us!

Please share this information with anyone who is dropping-off or picking-up your student. Here is a video that explains our drop-off and pick-up procedures. Here is map that shows a visual and here are written directions. Our school hours are from 7:25-2:25. Drop off starts at 7:05. Students who are not picked up by 2:35 will be brought to the office and will need to be picked up from the front of the school.
You can find our uniform policy here. Please note, students must be in closed toed and closed-back shoes. No sandals or crocs. If students want to play on the playground they must have athletic shoes on and not dress shoes.
We are in need of volunteers! Our areas of need include lunch, recess, mass, music, art, and physical education. We are also looking for monthly speakers to talk about their STEM-related careers. If you are interested in volunteering please call us at 262-425-0009 or email Mrs. McCauley at amccauley@sienacatholicschools.org.
In order to volunteer in our building or at any school events you need to have a background check and have completed the Safe Environment Training. There are many options available online in our area. If you do not remember if you have had this training in the past please reach out to me and I can look you up in our system. Please share this with anyone you know that is interested in volunteering at the school. I highly recommend doing this if you plan on being involved in any school events.
