What a fun week! I can't believe that this school year is almost over. This Tuesday as a whole school we went to the River Bend Nature Center. It was such a fun time.Thank you to all the parents who joined us on our adventure. There are many pictures below. Next week we will have Root Pick Watershed here for a STEM presentation with K5 and the 1st graders. On June 5th, at 10:30, we will have our Kindergarten graduation. Look for more information below. The last day of school will be Thursday, June 5th at 11:00 am.

June 5th - Last Day of School - Early Release - 11:00
When - Saturday, May 24th Starts at 10:00
Where - Parade check-in will take place at Schulte School - 8:00am. That will give us plenty of time to decorate.
Route - The parade will begin at 10:00 and end at South Park Pavilion.

We will be having our Home and School zoom meeting Monday, May 19th - please join us to discuss plans for our entry in the Sturtevant Memorial Day parade.
Our Student of the Week is Grace from our K5 classroom. Grace is a good friend to many kids. She is a happy, friendly, quiet girl. She likes coming up to the board to answer questions. She loves to run and play at recess and is often seen sharing and caring. She sets a good example for other students to follow. We love to see her laugh and giggle. We are so blessed to have Grace as part of our St. Sebastian STEM Academy family!
3K - This week 3K learned that some animals, like polar bears, frogs, and turtles, blend into their surroundings (camouflage) to stay safe. We were all able to observe this at Riverbend, because the frogs and turtles blended into the ponds so well that we needed to hear them first to find them. In our class we used blue paper, cotton balls, liquid glue, white paint, and sponges to design our very own polar bear habitat. During hikes around our school and Riverbend, we used our eyes to locate small flowers on the ground and within the trees. Although these flowers are beautiful to look at, especially with a magnifying glass, we all learned to leave nature alone so that it may grow as God intended it to.
4K - This week in 4K, students continued to talk about the weather. We read a story where a cloud shared information about the wind. We also went outside to observe the clouds to describe what they looked like and to see if the clouds were shaped like things. Students noticed one looked like an alligator head, the letter c, and a hippo to name a few. Students also made their own clouds out of paper, pipe stem cleaners, and cotton balls. On Friday, we had lots of activities with the letter F and for Stem students had to build a log out of paper to hold at least frogs over the pond.
5K - This week in Math students began their final chapter on describing and comparing measurable attributes. These include length, height, capacity, and weight. We used cube trains to measure height and length. We used different size cups to measure which holds more, less, or the same amount. We also learned how to use a balance scale to compare weights of objects.
In Science, we are finishing up our projects. We will give them a final test (Did they design something to cool them from the hot Sun?) and then present them to the class. We had a great time at Riverbend. We explored the forest, the pond, and the prairie environments.
1st grade - In first grade, we finished our unit on shapes in math. We worked on organizational skills like classifying and sorting different types of shapes by their various attributes. We also compared and contrasted different types of shapes.

Also, please remember that the day starts at 7:25, if you are running late, please bring your child through the main doors and sign them in to the main office. If your child comes to school after 7:45, breakfast will be over. Thank you!
Just a reminder that your child needs to be 24 hrs. fever and/or vomit free before they can return to school.

Please try and stick to the meals that you signed up for. You will be charged for what you signed up for unless you notify us the day before for breakfast or the morning of for lunch. At the beginning of each month I will send you 2 copies of the breakfast and lunch menu. One is to return to school, and the other is for you to keep at home. If you need a copy of your child's menu, please let me know and I will get one to you. Thank you
Our lunches are all served kid friendly, if it says orange Chicken, everything will be served in separate sections. So basically it is chicken nuggets unless they choose to dip it in the orange sauce. Hope this helps.

Please share this information with anyone who is dropping-off or picking-up your student. Here is a video that explains our drop-off and pick-up procedures. Here is map that shows a visual and here are written directions. Our school hours are from 7:25-2:25. Drop off starts at 7:05. Students who are not picked up by 2:35 will be brought to the office and will need to be picked up from the front of the school.
You can find our uniform policy here. Please note, students must be in closed toed and closed-back shoes. No sandals or crocs. If students want to play on the playground they must have athletic shoes on and not dress shoes.
We are in need of volunteers! Our areas of need include lunch, recess, mass, music, art, and physical education. We are also looking for monthly speakers to talk about their STEM-related careers. If you are interested in volunteering please call us at 262-425-0009 or email Mrs. McCauley at amccauley@sienacatholicschools.org.
In order to volunteer in our building or at any school events you need to have a background check and have completed the Safe Environment Training. There are many options available online in our area. If you do not remember if you have had this training in the past please reach out to me and I can look you up in our system. Please share this with anyone you know that is interested in volunteering at the school. I highly recommend doing this if you plan on being involved in any school events.

May 31, Spanish, 6PM at St. Richard. Celebrating the Ascension of the Lord.
June 7, Bilingual, 4:30 PM at Sacred Heart. This will be our first bilingual event! We will be using the extended Pentecost Vigil at Mass. (Yes, there's an official Vigil like there is for Easter!) We are super excited to see our communities come together for this Solemnity.
We also officially have locations for our remaining FFTJ events of the year. (Please note the change in date from October 2 to October 1.) Please update your calendar accordingly.
