Our students participated in many fun and educational Earth day activities this week! Please enjoy some pictures below. Many of you have been asking about spirit wear. Spirit wear forms went out in folders this week and more information is included in the newsletter. Permission slips for our River Bend field trip will be going out next week.

We will be helping clean St. Sebastian's parish and school grounds, then move over to a local park to help clean up our Earth. We will meet at St. Sebastian's Parish at 8:00 on May 18th. Here is the link if you would like to join us.!
St. Sebastian's STEM Academy will be in this year's Memorial Day Parade in Sturtevant. The parade is on May 25th at registration is at 8:00am and the parade starts at 10:00. We would love for you to be a part of it - More information to come.
Our student of the week this week is Elias from our 4K classroom! He is active and out-going. His smile lights up our days! He enjoys hands on activities and is eager to learn new things. He enjoys going to Mass and listens to Fr. Thomas' messages each week. We are so blessed to have Elias as part of our St. Sebastian STEM Academy family.
3K This week 3K completed quite a few activities that revolved around Earth Day. On Monday, we shared the pinecones we collected a few weeks ago with the other students at St. Sebastian's. Together, we created bird feeders to help care for God's creatures near our homes. On Wednesday, students learned what seeds and plants need to grow: soil, sunlight, and water.
On Friday, we learned about things we can do to make the Earth happy; such as recycling, reusing, and reducing the amount of garbage we produce. Using our water table, we observed what types of recyclables can float or sink in bodies of water (PLTW).
4K This week 4K students took a nature walk around the grounds an staff picked up litter. They really enjoyed pretending to be robots while reading and testing out their coding cards. In adition they programmed Vex robots.
5K In Math 5K is beginning to add and subtract within 20. We have been having Earth Day fun this week, experimenting with vinegar and baking soda to make an image of the earth and using recycled materials to make music. In our PLTW unit we are learning about meteorology and severe weather.

Home and School met Monday, April 8th. Our next meeting will be on Monday, May 6th at 6:00pm at School. We are working on a lot of fun things to do this spring. Please consider joining us!
