Our first week without Mrs. McCauley ran smoothly. Mrs. Santi is fitting in like she has been here since day one. We had lots of exciting things go on this week. K5 had a Cultural Fair on Wednesday. On Thursday, it was "Lunch Lady Day" and we celebrated Mrs. Amaya. Please remember to turn in your child's permission slip for Riverbend and your May menu if you haven't done so already. Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. I would like to take this time to thank all teachers especially our amazing teachers and educational assistants at St. Sebastian.

Our Student of the Week is Leo from our 1st grade classroom. Leo has shown so much growth as a student this year. He comes to school with a positive attitude and is ready to learn each day. He’s made a ton of progress with his writing skills and has grown into a stronger independent learner. Leo is curious and always asks to learn more during our lessons. He’s friendly with all the students in class and he can make you laugh every day with his funny comments or questions. We are so blessed to have Leo as part of our St. Sebastian STEM Academy family!
3K - We began our week back by using water and paints to create some beautiful "stained glass" Alleluias. Most students have learned that they need just a little water on their brush before swirling it in the paint and adding it to their pictures, or as we say in class "Water, paint, paper." During Centers, students used magnifying lenses to look closely at dandelions, bugs, rocks, and nests that we found outside during recess. During recess we also had fun blowing around in the wind:) Caring for God's creation became the focus throughout the end of the week. Students learned about how we can reduce, reuse, and recycle items so they don't get thrown into the garbage or end up in our lakes, streams, and oceans. We all agreed that we really like to swim in clean water!
4K - This week 4K started talking about the weather. We read a story about thunder and the type of weather worms like. The class also learned about clouds and rain with an experiment with blue food coloring, shaving cream, and water. To end the week the class learned what a meteorologist does and made rain gauges.
5K - This week the 5K has been working in small groups making both 2-D and 3-D shapes from other 2-D and 3-D shapes. They're enjoying this "hands on approach" for math! In Science, the groups have chosen their scenario for the Problem (reduce the Sun's warming effect). They have drawn a design and will choose their needed supplies to create their model.
1st grade - In first grade we started a new science unit on the sky. We began investigating patterns with the sun and moon. In math we finished our chapter on measuring and then we moved into another fun topic: shapes. We looked at the difference of 2D and 3D shapes. We also learned important terms like vertex and vertices.

Information is secure (not even shared with us!), donating is easy, and all funds go to support our students and teachers through the Annual Fund. Please report your sick child to the main office 262-425-0009 before 7:45am. Also, please remember that the day starts at 7:25, if you are running late, please bring your child through the main doors and sign them in to the main office. If your child comes to school after 7:45, breakfast will be over. Thank you!
Just a reminder that your child needs to be 24 hrs. fever and/or vomit free before they can return to school.

Please try and stick to the meals that you signed up for. You will be charged for what you signed up for unless you notify us the day before for breakfast or the morning of for lunch. At the beginning of each month I will send you 2 copies of the breakfast and lunch menu. One is to return to school, and the other is for you to keep at home. If you need a copy of your child's menu, please let me know and I will get one to you. Thank you
Our lunches are all served kid friendly, if it says orange Chicken, everything will be served in separate sections. So basically it is chicken nuggets unless they choice to dip it in the orange sauce. Hope this helps.

Each month, the girls will do activities to learn about and grow in each of the areas represented by each of the Daisy petals. Additionally, the girls will earn “fun patches” by participating in events and service opportunities around the community!
If your daughter is in 5k or 1st grade, please consider joining us!

Please share this information with anyone who is dropping-off or picking-up your student. Here is a video that explains our drop-off and pick-up procedures. Here is map that shows a visual and here are written directions. Our school hours are from 7:25-2:25. Drop off starts at 7:05. Students who are not picked up by 2:35 will be brought to the office and will need to be picked up from the front of the school.
You can find our uniform policy here. Please note, students must be in closed toed and closed-back shoes. No sandals or crocs. If students want to play on the playground they must have athletic shoes on and not dress shoes.
We are in need of volunteers! Our areas of need include lunch, recess, mass, music, art, and physical education. We are also looking for monthly speakers to talk about their STEM-related careers. If you are interested in volunteering please call us at 262-425-0009 or email Mrs. McCauley at amccauley@sienacatholicschools.org.
In order to volunteer in our building or at any school events you need to have a background check and have completed the Safe Environment Training. There are many options available online in our area. If you do not remember if you have had this training in the past please reach out to me and I can look you up in our system. Please share this with anyone you know that is interested in volunteering at the school. I highly recommend doing this if you plan on being involved in any school events.
