We attended Mass on Ash Wednesday and received ashes. With the start of Lent, our students are learning about being kind to others like Jesus was, to be better listeners, and to share what they have. Students will continue to learn and grow on this Lenten journey.

We started a new whole-school incentive this week. Each week students have the opportunity to enter their name in a raffle for a Marcus Movie ticket coupon. Their names can be entered for different positive academic and behavioral reasons. We will reach out if your student is the winner each Friday!

Congratulations Mariano
The NFL and the Hispanic Heritage Foundation have a great history of celebrating excellence within Latino communities and the NFL Latino Youth Honors celebrates high school seniors from across NFL club markets who excel both in the classroom and on the field. All 32 NFL teams are invited to select one male and one female high school senior football player to represent their team and submit these exemplary student-athletes to be considered for this year's program. From the 64 nominees, a panel of NFL, HHF and Procter & Gamble staff will convene to select eight outstanding finalists - each representing one of the NFL's eight divisions.
Mariano was picked as 1 of the 8 finalists. Each of the 8 finalists were able attend the Superbowl game and spend a week in New Orleans.
This elite group will each receive a grant award that can be used for college.
Congratulations to Mariano as he was picked as the winner of the NFL Latino Youth Award. Receiving an additional $25,000.00. We are so proud of you.

St. Catherine of Siena
Our student of the week this week is Aubrey from our 3K classroom. This week she taught our 3K class all about the ashes we received on Ash Wednesday. She is a kind friend that invites everyone to play with her. She always has a smile on her face and has had a great week following directions, especially with her Dr. Seuss activities. We are so blessed to have Aubrey as part of our St. Sebastian STEM Academy family.
3K - This week we added some new building toys to our classroom allowing students to create in different ways. Some played with a house, while others tried to build one of their own. A few students started working with puzzles of various sizes, all the way up to 25 pieces. They are learning to maneuver objects to create a complete picture. In honor of Dr. Seuss, each of us mixed some yellow and blue paint to create a plate of green eggs. After it dried, we all added our "green ham" to complete our plate. We ended the week by filling up a fish bowl with red (1) and blue (2) fish. Our class is doing a great job learning to follow directions and identifying numbers up to 10!
4K - 4K started our spatial sense and coding unit this week. They looked at pictures of different directions like; over, under, through, up, down, around, behind, in, and out, etc... Students also drew pictures of direction words and practiced learning which is their right hand and left hand. We also took a trip to the library using directions to get there.
5K - This week in Science, we continue to record weather data. We also read "Weather Words And What They Mean." They should be familiar with the terms: temperature (hot, warm, cool, cold), moisture (humid, dew, frost), wind, clouds, and precipitation (rain, snow). They also learned that the weather affects our daily lives.
In Math, we are learning how to make and decompose the numbers 11-19. We are also problem solving using these numbers.
1st grade - First grade has been working on more complex math facts. We've been dealing with fact families and order of operations for equations. We also looked at how to analyze an equation to see if both sides of it make sense together, or if the equation needs to be fixed.
Girl Scout Cookie Sale After School
On March 11th you can support the St. Sebastian Girl Scout Troop and buy Girl Scout cookies after school. Each box is $6.00, and they will be accepting cash, cards, Venmo, and PayPal. Thank you so much for your support.

Please report your sick child to the main office 262-425-0009 before 7:45am. Also, please remember that the day starts at 7:25, if you are running late, please bring your child through the main doors and sign them in to the main office. If your child comes to school after 7:45, breakfast will be over. Thank you!
Just a reminder that your child needs to be 24 hrs. fever and/or vomit free before they can return to school.

Please try and stick to the meals that you signed up for. You will be charged for what you signed up for unless you notify us the day before for breakfast or the morning of for lunch. At the beginning of each month I will send you 2 copies of the breakfast and lunch menu. One is to return to school, and the other is for you to keep at home. If you need a copy of your child's menu, please let me know and I will get one to you. Thank you
Our lunches are all served kid friendly, if it says orange Chicken, everything will be served in separate sections. So basically it is chicken nuggets unless they choice to dip it in the orange sauce. Hope this helps.

Each month, the girls will do activities to learn about and grow in each of the areas represented by each of the Daisy petals. Additionally, the girls will earn “fun patches” by participating in events and service opportunities around the community!

Please share this information with anyone who is dropping-off or picking-up your student. Here is a video that explains our drop-off and pick-up procedures. Here is map that shows a visual and here are written directions. Our school hours are from 7:25-2:25. Drop off starts at 7:05. Students who are not picked up by 2:35 will be brought to the office and will need to be picked up from the front of the school.
You can find our uniform policy here. Please note, students must be in closed toed and closed-back shoes. No sandals or crocs. If students want to play on the playground they must have athletic shoes on and not dress shoes.
We are in need of volunteers! Our areas of need include lunch, recess, mass, music, art, and physical education. We are also looking for monthly speakers to talk about their STEM-related careers. If you are interested in volunteering please call us at 262-425-0009 or email Mrs. McCauley at amccauley@sienacatholicschools.org.
In order to volunteer in our building or at any school events you need to have a background check and have completed the Safe Environment Training. There are many options available online in our area. If you do not remember if you have had this training in the past please reach out to me and I can look you up in our system. Please share this with anyone you know that is interested in volunteering at the school. I highly recommend doing this if you plan on being involved in any school events.

This Lent, the Community of Eight Parishes are excited to be hosting a 2 night retreat at St. Lucy. The name of the retreat is “Prayer: The Heart of the Disciple”. This will be an engaging opportunity of deepening your prayer life to grow closer to God. This community event is free and will be open for everyone. Join us Sunday March 9th and Monday March 10th starting at 6:00pm at St. Lucy Church.
