YEAR 11 Textiles

Aims 

The aim is for learners to develop a broad design knowledge that gives them access to design related careers. They learn practical skills as they design and develop their outcome. They also get first hand exposure to fashion through experiences, such as Emerging Designer, Hokonui Fashion Awards and the Otago Polytechnic Fashion School.

Skills

Through studying Textiles, learners are encouraged to be innovative, creative, and to show initiative. They learn teamwork and communication skills and the importance of contributing to the community both socially and economically. 

Assessment 

In class assessments, school examinations.

This course may include 1 NCEA standard, either an internal or an external. To be confirmed at the beginning of the 2024 school year.

Prior knowledge required

Recommended: Year 10 Textiles, Design and Visual Communication or Digital Technologies.
