NCEA Level 3 Dance

This may be taught as a composite Level 2 and Level 3 class.

Aims

Content

Dance Choreography - Selects and applies rehearsal processes, performance skills and production technologies to enhance the communication and expression of dance works

Dance Performance - Extends and refines skills, practises and use of technologies in a range of dance genres and styles

Dance Perspectives - Investigates, analyses and discusses the features, histories, issues and development of dance in New Zealand, including the contribution of selected individuals and groups

Assessment

There will be a variety of internally and externally assessed standards selected from the table below. Performances range in scale with site specific and studio dances. Learners need to choreograph, rehearse and reflect using some of their own time to complement the course. A brief portfolio, predominantly filmed with clips from class and a variety of evidence (photos, graphs, sketches, lists, scripts, plans, observations and evaluations), is collated to support the practical work.
