YEAR 11 Numeracy

Aims 

This course is intended for learners who have been identified at Year 10 as requiring individual attention in meeting the numeracy requirements for NCEA Levels 1-3 and University Entrance.  This course is 100% internally assessed. This course allows students to continue on to NCEA Level 2 Financial Mathematics when studying for NCEA Level 2. The details of this course are subject to change as the roll out of the NCEA Numeracy Co-requisite is finalised. 

Course content 

• This course will focus on the Numeracy Standards that provide an alternative pathway to gain the Numeracy requirements for NCEA Levels 1-3 and University Entrance. 

• The skills associated with Number, Measurement and Statistics will be developed and assessed in the context of other subjects and general life skills

• There will be two financial unit standards with a focus on understanding debt and budgeting.
