NCEA Level 3 Biology

Aims 

Course Content 

The course extends learners knowledge of how organisms interact with their environment.  

Assessment 

The programme is split between three internal achievement standards that require learners to do a reasonable amount of individualised research and two external achievement standards assessed in November as part of the national NCEA examinations.

Qualifications gained 

NCEA Biology, 18 credits at Level 3

Prior knowledge required 

Of the five compulsory Level 2 Biology achievement standards, learners must have achieved a minimum of one external assessment and one internal assessment. Learners who have not reached this level of achievement will be considered on a case by case basis in consultation with the HoD and the Year Level Dean. Achievement in formal tests and school examinations will be taken into consideration.
