YEAR 11 Physical Education
Aims
To develop in learners an awareness of their own physical ability, introducing them to new activities and to some of the scientific knowledge associated with exercise and physical activity. Learners will be reflecitve of their practices throughout the year and have the opportunity to engage in leadership and enhance interpersonal skills.
Course Content
Participate in a wide range of physical activities, individual, team and recreational
Investigate issues in sport, specifically concerning the influence of the media today
Uncover theory covering aspects of body structure and function in relation to physical activity
Explore outdoor education pursuits – local walks, with a safety focus
Challenge themselves in skill development programmes on a variety of physical activities
Assessment
In class assessments, school examinations.
This course may include 1 NCEA standard, either an internal or an external. To be confirmed at the beginning of the 2024 school year.
