NCEA Level 3 Photography
Aims
To develop a comprehensive understanding of the role of photography in selected historical and contemporary contexts. Learners develop analytical and critical thinking skills by viewing and producing photographs related to an individual area of study.
Course Content
Learners develop in-depth knowledge via guided and individualised study of relevant historical and contemporary photographic practice. Learners investigate and use a range of conventions via analysis of selected artist models in the production of an individual body of work submitted for examination. At the end of the year the learners will have a body of work to use as a portfolio for application to a tertiary institution.

Full course completion — 22 credits in NCEA Visual Arts (Photography) Level 3
Prior knowledge required
Prior knowledge acquired through NCEA Photography Level 2 is recommended
Learners who have not taken Photography in earlier years may be considered on an individual basis after consultation with the HoD and the Year Level Dean
