MMK & SDM Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, K. M. Puram, Mysuru, successfully organized an International Multidisciplinary Conference on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on 7th  October 2026, bringing together diverse academic disciplines, experts, researchers, faculty members and participants to engage in meaningful dialogue on building a sustainable future.

The conference provided an interdisciplinary platform to explore the challenges and opportunities associated with the Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing the importance of collaboration, innovation, technology and responsible leadership in addressing contemporary global challenges.

The programme commenced with registration and invocation, followed by the welcome address by convener of the conference Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, Head & Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science. The conference proceedings were formally released by the dignitaries, marking the beginning of a day of academic exchange and intellectual engagement.

The inaugural address was delivered by Prof. P. Nagabhushan, Professor Emeritus, JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru. In his insightful address, Prof. Nagabhushan emphasized that the journey towards sustainability begins at home. He highlighted how simple, responsible and committed  practices adopted at the individual and household level can create a ripple effect towards achieving the broader Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) using relevant illustrations and practical examples.

The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Muralidhar Teppala, Founder & CEO, Shenzyn, Singapore, emphasizing skill-based education and youth employability, highlighting the role of AI in HR practices and the need to bridge the gap between students’ current skills and emerging industry requirements. He also presented an international perspective on the SDGs and the collective efforts needed to achieve them by 2030.

The conference was further enriched by the presence of Dr. M. C. Varadaraj, Retired Chief Scientist, Department of Microbiology & Fermentation Technology, CSIR-CFTRI, Mysore, who addressed the gathering as the Guest of Honour. In his address, Dr. M. C. Varadaraj effectively bridged the gap between academic research and real-world sustainability, with particular emphasis on food security and affordability under SDG 2 – Zero Hunger. His insights underscored the importance of translating scientific research and technological innovations into practical solutions for ensuring food and nutritional security.

Prof. N. Bharathi, Principal, MMK & SDM MMV, Mysuru, in her Presidential Address highlighted how each discipline will contribute to the environmental sustainability. The formal programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Vinoda, Convener of the Conference and Head & Associate Professor, Department of Kannada. Mrs. Brunda, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of English, compered the programme.

A special technical session was conducted by Dr. S. Kanmani, Professor & Head, Department of General Engineering, Head–SDG & Professor/Civil Engineering, KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore. Her session, titled “From SDG Awareness to SDG Action: Harnessing Technology, Innovation and Women’s Leadership for a Sustainable Future,” highlighted the need to transform awareness of SDGs into meaningful and measurable action.

The conference subsequently moved into paper presentations, providing researchers and participants an opportunity to present and discuss their scholarly contributions. The academic presentations were organized across six multidisciplinary tracks—Language & Literature, Life Science, Physical Science, Computer Science, Commerce and Business Management—with both online and offline modes of participation. The conference witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 94 Academicians, Research Scholars and postgraduate students from various parts of the country through offline mode.

The MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya Library, Mysuru, organized a book exhibition on 12th October 2026 to commemorate the birth anniversaries of renowned Kannada writer Dr. K. Shivarama Karanth and eminent English writer R. K. Narayan.

The exhibition showcased books written by both authors, highlighting their valuable contributions to Kannada and English literature. The initiative aimed to create awareness among students about the literary works and achievements of these distinguished writers and to encourage reading habits.

A total of 98 students and 5 faculty members visited the exhibition and explored the literary works on display.

The Tech Amateur IT Club of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, organised a three-day E-Waste Drive from 24th to 26th September 2026 to promote responsible electronic waste disposal and environmental sustainability.

As part of the initiative, student volunteers conducted campus-wide collection drives across administrative blocks, faculty rooms, and lecture halls. The club guided participants on the types of electronic waste accepted for recycling. The collected items included non-functional smartphones, discarded laptops and desktop computers, obsolete power cords, used batteries, computer peripherals such as keyboards and mice, and other small electronic gadgets.

The campus community actively participated in the drive, demonstrating its commitment to responsible waste management. All the collected electronic waste will be handed over to the E Sree Foundation under the ongoing three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for sustainable waste management.

The initiative provided an accessible channel for the safe disposal of electronic waste while creating awareness about the importance of recycling, reducing environmental pollution, and adopting eco-friendly practices.

The Cultural Committee of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, presented a vibrant cultural performance at Dasara Yuva Sambhrama 2026 on 6th October 2026 at the Open Air Theatre, Manasagangothri, Mysuru.

Dasara Yuva Sambhrama, a ten-day cultural extravaganza held from 28th September to 7th October 2026 as part of Nada Habba Dasara, was organised by the Yuva Sambhrama Subcommittee, Mysuru, paying tribute to the erstwhile ruler of Mysuru, Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar.

A team of 43 students representing BCA, B.Com., BBA and B.Sc. programmes delivered a spectacular dance performance on the theme “Folk and Modern Dance Forms.” The performance blended traditional and contemporary dance styles, featuring Yakshagana and popular Kannada and Hindi film songs, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Karnataka through a captivating fusion of music and dance. The performance was choreographed by Ms. Spandana of Mysuru. The team was felicitated by the Yuva Sambhrama Subcommittee following the performance.

The programme was conducted with the support and encouragement of the Prof. Bharathi N, Principal, Dr. Vinoda, Cultural Committee Coordinator, along with committee members Mr. Abhishek S. from the Department of Biotechnology, Smt. Chaithra from the Department of BBA, Ms. Kavyashree KL from the Department of BCA, and Smt. Geetha from the Department of Mathematics, graced the occasion.

The participation provided students with a valuable platform to showcase their artistic talents, promote Karnataka’s cultural heritage, and celebrate the spirit of unity through dance.

The Department of Biotechnology, MMK and SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, organized an IQAC-initiated two-day hands-on workshop titled “DNA Sequence to Evolution: A Practical Bioinformatics Workflow” on 8th and 9th October 2026 for 38 second-year B.Sc. Life Sciences (BtBM) students as part of the Bioinformatics Add-on Course.

Prof. N. Bharathi, Principal of MMK and SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, graced the occasion and encouraged the participants to develop computational biology skills and enhance their ability to interpret life sciences data for the welfare of humanity. Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, IQAC Coordinator, extended her support for the successful organization of the workshop.

The workshop featured Dr. Sundru Manjulata Devi, Founder and Managing Director of SVR BioScience Research Services, Mysuru, as the resource person. The sessions provided participants with practical exposure to bioinformatics tools and techniques, including GenBank, UniProt, FASTA format, genome annotation, mutation analysis using BLAST, multiple sequence alignment using ClustalX, and phylogenetic tree construction using MEGA6 software.

Samhitha P. Bhat and Nisarga R. of II B.Com from the Department of Commerce, MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, secured the Runner-Up position at Finance Fiesta, an intercollegiate fest organized by GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women on 8th October 2026.

The competition comprised three rounds focusing on portfolio construction, a finance quiz, and CFO: Financial Decision-Making. The participants showcased their financial knowledge, analytical abilities, and decision-making skills throughout the competition.

In recognition of their performance, the team was awarded a certificate and a cash prize. This achievement reflects their teamwork, financial acumen, and active participation in the event.

The Literary Committee of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, organized a Creative Story Writing Competition titled “A Hidden Narrative” on 5th October 2026. The competition was organized with the objective of encouraging students to develop their creativity, imagination, and storytelling skills. It also provided students with an opportunity to express their thoughts and ideas through creative writing. A total of 36 students enthusiastically participated in the competition. The participants presented their original ideas through imaginative and engaging stories. The competition helped students enhance their language skills, creative thinking, originality, and ability to develop meaningful narratives. The entries were evaluated by Dr. Vinoda, Head and Associate Professor, Department of Kannada, and Dr. Raghavendra S., Assistant Professor, Department of Physics. The judges evaluated the entries based on creativity, originality, language, narrative structure, and overall presentation. The event was organized by Dr. Shrinivas, Literary Committee Coordinator, under the guidance of Prof. N. Bharathi, Principal, and Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, IQAC Coordinator. Faculty members and student coordinators extended their support, making the program a grand success

The competition was successfully conducted with active participation from the students. The event reflected the Literary Committee’s continued efforts to promote literary creativity and provide students with opportunities to develop their writing and communication skills. The program concluded with appreciation to all the participants and the judges for their valuable contribution to the successful conduct of the competition.

ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಕನ್ನಡ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ ಇಲಾಖೆ, ಸಂತ ಕವಿ ಕನಕದಾಸ ಮತ್ತು ತತ್ವಪದಕಾರರ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಕೇಂದ್ರ, ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಹಾಗೂ ಎಂ.ಎಂ.ಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಶ್ರೀ ಧರ್ಮಸ್ಥಳ ಮಂಜುನಾಥೇಶ್ವರ ಮಹಿಳಾ ಮಹಾವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯ, ಮೈಸೂರು ಇವರ ಸಹಯೋಗದಲ್ಲಿ ದಿನಾಂಕ 01-10-2026 ರ ಗುರುವಾರದೊಂದು ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಸಭಾಂಗಣದಲ್ಲಿ ತತ್ವಪದ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದ ಶಿಬಿರ ಹಾಗೂ ವಿವಿಧ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗಳನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.

ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಶ್ರೀ ಕಾ. ತ. ಚಿಕ್ಕಣ್ಣ ಅವರು ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿದರು. ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಅವರು, ಭಾಷೆಯ ಅಧ್ಯಯನವು ಭಾರತೀಯ ಜ್ಞಾನ ಪರಂಪರೆ, ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯ ಅರಿವಿಗೆ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಸೇತುವೆಯಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಪಟ್ಟರು. ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇವಲ ಪಠ್ಯವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ಪರಿಗಣಿಸದೆ, ಅದರ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯಿಕ, ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಹಾಗೂ ದಾರ್ಶನಿಕ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ಅರಿತುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು. ತತ್ವಪದಕಾರರ ತತ್ವ–ಆದರ್ಶಗಳನ್ನು ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಳವಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು, ಅವುಗಳಿಂದ ಬದುಕಿನ ಅರಿವು ಮತ್ತು ವಿವೇಕವನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಭವಿಷ್ಯದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅನುಸಂಧಾನ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಕರೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.

ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆಯನ್ನು ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರಾದ ಪ್ರೊ. ಭಾರತಿ ಎನ್. ಅವರು ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ತಮ್ಮ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷೀಯ ಭಾಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು, ಇಂತಹ ಶಿಬಿರಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗಳು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಭಾಷಾ ಕೌಶಲ್ಯ, ಸೃಜನಶೀಲತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಭಾರತೀಯ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯ ಕುರಿತಾದ ಅರಿವನ್ನು ವೃದ್ಧಿಸಲು ಸಹಕಾರಿಯಾಗುತ್ತವೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.

ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಹ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಶಿಬಿರದ ಸಂಚಾಲಕಿ ಡಾ. ತ್ರಿವೇಣಿ, ಎಂ.ಎಂ.ಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಶ್ರೀ ಧರ್ಮಸ್ಥಳ ಮಂಜುನಾಥೇಶ್ವರ ಮಹಿಳಾ ಮಹಾವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಕನ್ನಡ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥೆ ಡಾ. ವಿನೋದ ಶ್ರೀ, ಬೋಧಕ ವರ್ಗದ ಸದಸ್ಯರಾದ ಬಿ.ಎನ್. ಮಾರುತಿ ಪ್ರಸನ್ನ, ಡಾ. ಕೆ.ಎನ್. ಅರುಣ್ ಕುಮಾರ್, ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಪ್ರಥಮ ದರ್ಜೆ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಸಹ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕ ಡಾ. ಆರ್. ಗುರುಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಹಾಗೂ ವಿವಿಧ ಕಾಲೇಜುಗಳ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು.

ಶಿಬಿರದ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿ ತತ್ವಪದ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದ ಪ್ರಬಂಧ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ, ಓದು, ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನ ಹಾಗೂ ವೈಚಾರಿಕ ಭಾಷಣ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗಳನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ವಿವಿಧ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಜೇತರಾದ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಮಾಣಪತ್ರಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿ ವಿಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ 15 ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ನಗದು ಬಹುಮಾನ ನೀಡಿ ಪುರಸ್ಕರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.

ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಯಶಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಬೋಧಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಬೋಧಕೇತರ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ, ಸಂಘಟಕರು ಮತ್ತು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಸಹಕರಿಸಿದರು. 73 ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಸಕ್ರಿಯ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುವಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಶಿಬಿರ ಹಾಗೂ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗಳು ಅರ್ಥಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ನೆರವೇರಿದವು.

The NSS Unit of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, in association with the District Health and Family Welfare Department, Mysuru; Karnataka State AIDS Prevention Society (KSAPS), Bengaluru; District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU), Mysuru; and Lions Blood Centre Jeevadhara, Mysuru, organized a Blood Donation Programme on the occasion of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day–2026 on 1 October 2026 in Room No. S206 of the college. The programme aimed to create awareness about voluntary blood donation and highlight its importance in saving lives and promoting social responsibility among students.

The programme featured insightful addresses by Dr. Brinda B., District Tuberculosis Control Officer and District AIDS Control Officer, Mysuru District; Sri. Girish S. A., Managing Trustee, Lions Blood Centre Jeevadhara, Mysuru; and Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, IQAC Coordinator and Head, Department of Computer Science. The speakers emphasized the importance of voluntary blood donation, dispelled misconceptions associated with blood donation, and encouraged students to contribute to society through this life-saving humanitarian service. The programme also reinforced the message that a single act of voluntary donation can contribute significantly to saving lives.

Prof. N. Bharathi, Principal, along with Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, Smt. Anitha P. Jayaram, NSS Coordinator, and NSS members Mr. Syed Sadath, Smt. Prathima M., Dr. Arun Kumar K. N., Mr. Sachin M. K., and Ms. Kavya Pujar, encouraged students to participate actively and spread awareness about blood donation.

The programme witnessed active participation, with 49 NSS volunteers and students attending, 16 students and NSS volunteers donating blood, and 40 students, NSS volunteers, and faculty members undergoing blood check-ups. The initiative successfully promoted voluntary blood donation, social responsibility, and community service among the students.

The Student Welfare Committee (SWC) of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, organized an IQAC-initiated Leadership Development Programme – “Your First Leadership Workshop: A CR is Not a Boss, A CR is a Bridge” on 1st October 2026 at the Golden Jubilee Bhawan, Training and Placement Centre, SJCE–JSS Science and Technology University, Mysuru. The programme was organized for the Student Council Members and Class Representatives (CRs) for the academic year 2026–27.

The programme was organized under the leadership of Smt. Jyothilakshmi G. Kava, Student Welfare Officer. Prof. Bharathi N., Principal, and Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, IQAC Coordinator, extended their valuable support towards the programme.

Dr. Pradeep Manjunath, Head of Training and Placement, SJCE–JSSSTU, welcomed the participants and highlighted the significance of leadership in inspiring others through effective management and administration.

The session was led by Ms. Roopa Priya J. K., Career Placement Officer, SJCE–JSSSTU, Mysuru, who engaged the students through interactive discussions and team activities. She emphasized that a Class Representative is not a boss but a bridge between students and the institution. The importance of key leadership qualities such as responsibility, trust, communication, active listening, and respectful interaction was highlighted.

The speaker encouraged the participants to identify challenges, understand different perspectives, communicate respectfully, and follow up effectively until issues are resolved.

The Student Placement Committee Secretaries conducted three engaging rounds of coordinative games, including an icebreaker activity, blindfold activity, and message-passing activity. The winners of each round were felicitated with goodies.

A total of 43 participants benefited from the programme and gained awareness of the core principle that “Leadership begins with responsibility, grows through trust, and is demonstrated through action.”

The Legal Literacy Committee (LLC) of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, organized a Cyber Crime Awareness Programme on 1st October 2026.

The programme was graced by Mr. Ravi Shankar B. S., Police Inspector, and Mr. Lakkappa and Mr. Shaik Feroz, Police Sub-Inspectors, Lakshmipuram Police Station, Mysuru, who served as resource persons. A total of 50 participants actively participated in the programme.

The session focused on creating awareness about common forms of cybercrime, online fraud, scams, and digital threats. The resource persons emphasized the importance of safe and responsible use of social media, online services, and electronic communication. Students were advised to safeguard their personal information, passwords, and digital credentials, and to exercise caution while responding to suspicious messages, calls, and links.

The programme also highlighted the importance of promptly reporting cybercrimes to the appropriate authorities. The session enabled students to develop practical awareness and knowledge to identify, prevent, and respond appropriately to various cyber threats.
