On 17 October 2025, the Youth Red Cross (YRC), NSS, and Rangers & Rovers units of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya organized a traffic awareness rally from the college to Ramaswamy Circle, Mysore. Approximately 145 student volunteers participated, accompanied by Principal Prof. Bharathi N., Syed Sadath (YRC coordinator), Smt. Anitha P. Jaiyaram (NSS coordinator), and Smt. Malathi (Rangers & Rovers coordinator). The rally aimed to educate and sensitize the public about road safety rules and regulations, promote responsible behavior among road users, reduce traffic accidents and fatalities, and foster a safer and more disciplined traffic environment through mass awareness and community engagement. Students actively participated by displaying informative posters and chanting slogans related to traffic awareness. The event was deemed a success, contributing to the ongoing efforts to promote road safety in the region.
On 15th October 2025, the PG Department of Commerce at MMK & SDM MMV, Mysore organized an Orientation Programme for the incoming 2025–26 batch on 15 October 2025. The session was presided over by Prof. Bharathi N., Principal, who addressed the students on the bright opportunities open to commerce graduates and emphasized the role of personality development in improving employability.
Dr. Devaki K. K., Head of the MCom Department, gave a detailed orientation about the department’s operations, student focused initiatives, and academic calendar. She spotlighted numerous programs, competitions, and events planned for the students.
Smt. Padma, the College Librarian, presented the breadth of the library’s resources and facilities available to students, including print, digital collections, and study spaces.
Smt. Malathi, Director of Physical Education, described the sports and games facilities on campus and the opportunities for student involvement in athletics and recreation.
A total of 39 students participated in the programme.
In celebration of Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade’s Pattabhisheka Day, the President of the SDM Educational Society, the Legal Literacy Committee (LLC) of MMK & SDM MMV, Mysuru, organized an Essay Competition on the topic “Fundamental Rights vs Fundamental Duties: Striking a Balance” on October 16, 2025, at 12:00 PM in the College Auditorium. The competition was conducted in both Kannada and English to encourage participation and expression from students across all streams. A total of 36 students actively took part in the event. The program was coordinated by Ms. Prathima M (LLC Coordinator), with the support of committee members Ms. Harshitha P, Ms. Kavyashree K. L., and Smt. Sahana B. The initiative aimed to raise awareness among students about the importance of maintaining a balance between individual rights and social responsibilities.
On October 15, 2025, the Youth Red Cross, NSS, and Rangers & Rovers units collaboratively organized an Environment Protection Program at Seth Mohandas Tulsidas Hospital, Mysuru. The event involved cleaning the premises and planting saplings. A total of 75 student volunteers actively participated, along with Prof. Bharathi N, Principal, Smt. Anitha P. Jayram (NSS Coordinator), Mr. Syed Sadath (YRC Coordinator), and Smt. Malathi (Rangers & Rovers Coordinator). The program aimed to conserve and protect the natural environment, promote biodiversity, mitigate climate change, and improve the quality of life through tree planting and ecosystem restoration—encouraging sustainable development for a healthier and greener planet for future generations.
On 15th October, the Department of English, MMK and SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, in collaboration with Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mysuru, and under the IQAC initiative, organized a guest lecture on the theme “Vivekananda for Youth.”
The programme began with a symbolic inauguration by watering the plant, representing growth, knowledge, and sustainability. Prof. N. Bharathi, Principal of the College, and Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, IQAC Coordinator, extended their best wishes and lauded the Department of English for organizing an inspiring and value-oriented session.
The resource persons for the lecture were Mr. Sundaram K. S., Ethical Management Expert, Financial and Investment Advisor, and Soft Skills Trainer, and Smt. Rajani Chakravarthy, Counselor. Their engaging talks focused on the contemporary relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy in strengthening moral values, self-confidence, and leadership qualities among today’s youth.
Students from II B.Com (A & B) and I B.Com (A) actively participated and benefited from the insightful session. The event was attended by Dr. Vinoda, Head and Assistant Professor, Department of Kannada; Smt. Brunda R., Head and Assistant Professor, Department of English; along with Smt. Vani Hemanth, Mr. Sachin M. K., and Smt. Ujwala S. Shetty, Assistant Professors from the Department of English.
The session concluded with a message of inspiration, urging students to adopt Swami Vivekananda’s ideals of discipline, selfless service, and purposeful living in their academic and personal pursuits.
On October 14, 2025, the Science and Nature Club of the college organized an Environment Protection Program, featuring a guest lecture and a science quiz, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the College Auditorium. The event was conducted to commemorate Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade’s Pattabhisheka Day and witnessed an enthusiastic participation of 178 students.
The chief guest, Shri T. C. Devanath, recipient of the Karnataka State Environment Award (2001), delivered an enlightening lecture on environmental conservation, making the program both informative and impactful.
The event was graced by Prof. N. Bharathi, Principal; Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, IQAC Coordinator; and Smt. Pavithra V, Coordinator of the Science and Nature Club. Club members Smt. Sahana B, Smt. Kavyashree A. C., Miss Rajeshwari N., and Smt. Roopashree H. R. also contributed to the success of the program.
The Home Management Session titled “Yoga and Meditation for Happy Life” was conducted on 11th of October 2025 at MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysore, with the aim of promoting overall well-being and a balanced lifestyle among students. The guest speaker, Sri Manikantan, Yoga Therapist , Narayananada Yoga ashrama , Mysore, delivered a comprehensive session that blended both theoretical insights and practical demonstrations. The topic focused on the role of yoga and meditation in achieving physical health, emotional stability, and mental clarity. He explained the benefits of daily practice of asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), and dhyana (meditation), and guided students through simple exercises to manage stress and cultivate inner peace. The objective of the session was to create awareness about the significance of incorporating these ancient practices into daily routines for a happier, healthier life. As an outcome, students gained a deeper understanding of how consistency in yoga and meditation can enhance focus, reduce anxiety, and lead to mindful living. The session saw active participation from 94 students and was well-received. It was organized under the coordination of Sri Maruti Prasanna, with the support of faculty members Smt. Rajarajeshwari R., Smt. Kavya S. N., Smt. Namratha D., Smt. Chaitra H. V., and Ms. Divyashree R
A Guest Lecture Programme on the topic “Non-Performing Assets and Government Guidelines” was organized by Smt. Hajra Begum, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration, on October 11, 2025, for the II and III BBA students at MMK & SDM MMV. The resource person for the session was Ms. Deepthi Nagarkar, Deputy Manager – Retail Banking, IDFC First Bank, Jayalakshmipuram Branch, Mysuru. The objective of the session was to help students understand how government and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines on Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) ensure financial stability, protect banks from excessive losses, and promote a healthy lending environment. Ms. Nagarkar explained the classification of NPAs, regulatory frameworks, and the significance of credit risk management in maintaining banking efficiency. The lecture provided valuable insights into how continuous monitoring, robust risk assessment, and transparent lending practices contribute to strengthening the resilience of the financial system. A total of 54 students from II and III BBA benefited from the informative and engaging session.
An Interdisciplinary Programme on the topic “Setting Up Web Analytical Tools” was conducted on October 10, 2025, for III BBA students. The programme was organized by Smt. Hajra Begum, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration, and the session was delivered by Ms. Bhargavi H. G, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science. The objective of the programme was to help students understand how web analytics tools in digital marketing can be used to track user behavior, evaluate campaign performance, and implement data-driven strategies to enhance user experience and achieve business goals such as higher traffic, better conversions, and increased sales. During the session, Ms. Bhargavi explained the process of setting up web analytics tools and demonstrated their practical applications in optimizing digital marketing efforts. The programme concluded that a data-driven approach through web analytics is crucial for making informed decisions, continuously improving online performance, and driving overall business growth. A total of 30 III BBA students attended and benefited from the session.
A book exhibition was organized in the MMK & SDM MMV Library on 3rd October 2025 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the Father of our Nation. The exhibition aimed to honor Gandhi’s life and his enduring legacy of non-violence, equality, and freedom. Books related to his life and principles were displayed on the occasion. A total of 97 students and 8 faculty members visited the exhibition.
The IQAC-initiated Intercollegiate Fest PRABHIGYAN 2025–26 was held on 6th October 2025 at MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, organized by the Student Welfare Committee and Student Council under the dynamic leadership of Smt. Jyothi Lakshmi G. Kava, Student Welfare Officer. The fest brought together faculty, staff, and students from all streams of the host college, along with participants from various institutions across Mysuru.
The dignitaries on the dais included Prof. N. Bharathi, Principal of the Degree College; Prof. Nayanakumari, Principal of the PU College; Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, IQAC Coordinator; and Student Council leaders Ms. Gangashree M (President) and Ms. Shreya Shriram (Secretary).
The event was inaugurated by Dr. P. Shivaraju, K.A.S., Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mysuru District, who emphasized the importance of nation-building through strong institutions, individual identity, and collective well-being. He noted that such fests nurture talent and encourage holistic growth through co-curricular engagement.
The valedictory ceremony, held at 4:30 PM, was graced by Shree Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, 27th Head of the Wadiyar Dynasty and Member of Parliament, Mysuru–Kodagu. He highlighted the vital role of women empowerment in cultural preservation and urged students to embrace discipline, diligence, and dedication in their pursuits.
Dr. Shwetha Madappadi, Founder of Dhvani Foundation, congratulated the winners and emphasized that participation fosters growth, skill development, and new opportunities. She inspired students to evolve into capable, competitive individuals shaping the nation’s future.
Prof. Nayanakumari, Guest of Honour, encouraged teamwork and time management, wishing success to all participants and organizers. Presiding over the event, Prof. N. Bharathi reminded students that “Learning never stops, and knowledge leads to enlightenment,” motivating them to explore their potential with enthusiasm and perseverance.
The Student Council played a pivotal role in organizing the fest, which featured five event categories—Vigyan Sangram (Science), Samanvayam (Commerce & Management), Sports, Sahityotsava (Literary), and Sourabha (Cultural). A total of 210 participants from 31 colleges competed in various events judged by experts from reputed institutions.
All participants received certificates, while winners and runners were awarded cash prizes and certificates by the guests. Yuvaraja’s College, Mysuru, emerged as the Overall Champion, marking a vibrant conclusion to PRABHIGYAN 2025–26, a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and academic excellence.
