The Literary Committee of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru organized a Pick and Speech Competition under the Talent Hunt on 28 July 2026. The competition provided students with an opportunity to showcase their spontaneity, public speaking skills, confidence, and presence of mind by speaking on topics selected through a draw of lots.

A total of 25 students participated enthusiastically. The competition was judged by Ms. Brunda R, Head and Assistant Professor, Department of English, Ms. Anitha P. Jayaram, Head and Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi, and Mr. Arun Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Kannada, who appreciated the participants for their confidence, clarity of expression, and communication skills.

The event was organized by Dr. Shrinivas, Literary Committee Coordinator, under the guidance of Prof. N. Bharathi, Principal, and Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, IQAC Coordinator. Faculty members and student coordinators extended their wholehearted support, ensuring the smooth conduct and grand success of the program. The competition encouraged students to think critically, express their ideas effectively, and build self-confidence in public speaking.

Mysuru, July 31: The Department of Microbiology of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya organized a guest lecture on the topic "To Be or Not to Be – Molecular Decision to be Male or Female" on 31 July 2026. The session was delivered by Dr. Sharvani Mahadevaraju, Assistant Professor of Genetics and Genomics, Morgan State University, USA.

The lecture provided students with valuable insights into the molecular mechanisms involved in sex determination in males and females. Dr. Sharvani elaborated on the significant role of the RUNT gene in Drosophila and explained how gene activation and repression regulate the process of sex determination at the molecular level. The session enhanced the participants' understanding of genetics and developmental biology through scientific explanations and real-world research perspectives.

A total of 104 students benefited from the programme.

The programme was presided over by Prof. N. Bharathi, Principal. Mrs. Atiya Sameen served as the Coordinator, while Mrs. Rajarajeshwari R. was the Co-coordinator of the event. Faculty members of the Life Science departments were present and graced the occasion.

The Tech Amateur IT Club of the Department of Computer Science, MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, organized a Crossword Competition for BCA and B.Sc. Computer Science students on 31 July 2026.

The competition aimed to enhance students' technical knowledge, logical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities through an engaging computer science-themed crossword puzzle. Students enthusiastically participated in the event, showcasing their understanding of various computer science concepts in a competitive and interactive environment.

A total of 46 students participated in the competition. The event was coordinated by Ms. Bhargavi H. G., Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science.

The Department of Biochemistry, MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, organized a one-day Hands-on Workshop on High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) at Mysore Analytical Services, Roopanagar, Mysuru, as a part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) activities between the institution and the organization.

The workshop was coordinated and organized by Dr. Meghana M., Head and Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry, and co-coordinated by Ms. Kanthashree B. L., Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry.

 Mr. Mahesh, CEO of Mysore Analytical Services, served as the resource person and delivered an informative session on the principles, instrumentation, applications, and analytical calculations involved in High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC).

The practical demonstration was conducted by Ms. Nagashree, Quality Control  Analyst, who explained the operation of the HPLC system and demonstrated the complete analytical procedure. , Mr. Lingaraju, Quality Control  and Qualitative Analyst, introduced students to various sophisticated analytical instruments available in the laboratory and Ms. Alia, Qualitative Analyst, conducted an informative session on instrument calibration and highlighted its significance in ensuring accuracy and reliability in analytical results.

The workshop was organized for 37 second-year BMBT students, all of whom actively participated and benefited from the programme. The hands-on training provided students with valuable practical exposure, helping them understand the operation of advanced analytical instruments beyond classroom learning.  All participants were provided with certificates, a stationery kit, and refreshments. The workshop proved to be highly informative and successful, significantly enhancing the practical skills and analytical understanding of the students while strengthening the academic collaboration between the Department of Biochemistry and Mysore Analytical Services under the MoU initiative.

The NSS Unit of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, organized a guest lecture on 30 July 2026 to commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas and pay tribute to the brave soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces.

  The programme was presided over by Prof. N. Bharathi, Principal, and graced by the presence of Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, IQAC Coordinator. Mr. Nithin Vardhan, Social Worker, Mysuru, served as the resource person for the occasion.  

Delivering the guest lecture, Mr. Nithin Vardhan presented an insightful account of the Kargil War, highlighting its historical significance and the remarkable courage, determination, and sacrifices of the Indian Armed Forces. He spoke about the challenging conditions faced by the soldiers during the conflict and emphasized the values of patriotism, resilience, selfless service, and national responsibility. His inspiring address encouraged students to honour the nation's heroes and strengthen their commitment towards serving society and the country.

The programme was attended by faculty members, Sri Syed Sadath, Sri Maruthi Prasanna B. K., Smt. Prathima M., Sri Arun Kumar K. N., Sri Sachin M. K., Ms. Kavya Pujar, NSS volunteers, and students.

A total of 79 students participated in the programme and benefited from the informative session. The guest lecture served as a meaningful tribute to the valour and sacrifices of the soldiers who safeguarded the nation's sovereignty and inspired the young generation to uphold the spirit of patriotism.

The Entrepreneurship Hub of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Krishnamurthypuram, Mysuru, organized an Orientation Programme on Fashion Design, Baking, and Make-up Courses on 28 July 2026 in the college auditorium with the objective of encouraging students to explore skill-based career opportunities and entrepreneurship.

The programme was presided over by Prof. N. Bharathi, Principal, while Prof. K. S. Sukrutha, IQAC coordinator, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.

The orientation featured expert sessions by Mrs. Geethashree H. P., Course Trainer at Queen School of Design, Dr. Kruthika, Founder of Kuki's Bakehouse, and Ms. Spandana, Professional Make-up Artist. Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Geethashree highlighted the growing demand for skilled professionals in the fashion industry and the wide range of career opportunities available in the field. Dr. Kruthika emphasized the importance of practical skills and entrepreneurship in building successful careers, while Ms. Spandana shared valuable insights into professional make-up training and the expanding scope of the beauty and wellness industry.

The programme aimed to motivate students to discover their interests, develop industry-relevant skills, and create awareness about emerging career opportunities through vocational education. A total of 310 students actively participated in the orientation and gained valuable knowledge about career prospects in fashion design, baking, and professional make-up.

 The event was coordinated by Mr. Niranth M. R., Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce and Management, with the support of Smt. Amulya S. Chandru, Dr. Meghana, Ms. Divyashree, and Ms. Kavya Pujar.

As an IQAC initiative, the Student Welfare Committee of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, organized the Freshers' Day programme "BIENVENIDA TYROS 2026" on 30 July 2026 to warmly welcome the first-year students into the institution.

The programme was conducted with the support of  Smt. Jyothi Lakshmi G. Kava,  Student Welfare Officer   The dignitaries on the dais included Prof. N. Bharathi, Principal; Smt. Shobha S. P., Principal of MMK & SDM Girls PU College, as the Chief Guest; Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, IQAC Coordinator; Smt. Jyothi Lakshmi G. Kava, Student Welfare Officer; and Ms. Sanjana, III BCA, Student President.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Smt. Shobha S. P. described SDM Institutions as an ideal platform for students to discover their inner potential. She encouraged the freshers to continuously acquire knowledge and skills like a flowing river and contribute towards building a better society while making their parents and teachers proud.

In her presidential address, Prof. N. Bharathi inspired students to embrace perseverance, patience, and hard work as the pillars of success. She urged them to identify and nurture their hidden talents during their three-year academic journey. Quoting, "Smarter than you believe, more capable than you imagine, and stronger than you seem," she motivated students to strive for excellence. She also advised them to make productive use of their time by minimizing distractions, particularly excessive mobile phone usage.

The cultural celebration, coordinated by the Student Council members of the second and final years. One of the major attractions was the Ms. Fresher Contest, which featured three rounds—Ramp Walk, Chit Activity, and the Final Question Round. The competition was judged by Dr. Shwetha S. (Department of Biotechnology), Smt. Amulya (Department of Computer Science), and Ms. Bhavyashree Bhat (Department of Commerce).

Ms. Sanjana (I BBA) was crowned Miss Fresher 2026, while Ms.Chirasvi (I B.Com B) secured the Runner-up title. Ms.Dhavalashree (I B.Sc. BtBM) won the Best Traditional Attire award, and Ms.Rachana Handarki (I B.Sc. BtBM) received the Best Western Attire award.

The programme was attended by faculty members, non-teaching staff, student representatives, and first-year students. Filled with music, cultural performances, enthusiasm, and joy, the event successfully marked the beginning of a memorable academic journey for the new batch of students. 

The Legal Literacy Club (LLC) of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya,  was inaugurated on 29 July 2026 in the College Auditorium with the objective of creating legal awareness and empowering students with knowledge of their rights and responsibilities.

The inaugural programme was graced by Smt. Vimal R. Nandgaon, District Judge & Chairman, Permanent Lok Adalat, Mysuru, as the Chief Guest. In her address, she highlighted the significance of legal literacy, constitutional values, and access to justice in everyday life.

The programme was presided over by Prof. Bharathi N, Principal, in the presence of Smt. Sukrutha K. S., IQAC Coordinator. All the LLC students from the B.Com, BBA, BCA, and B.Sc streams participated enthusiastically, making the event a grand success.

ದಿನಾಂಕ 27 ಜುಲೈ 2026 ರಂದು ಎಂ.ಎಂ.ಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಎಸ್.ಡಿ.ಎಂ ಮಹಿಳಾ ಮಹಾವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಕನ್ನಡ ವಿಭಾಗ ಹಾಗೂ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿಯ ಚಕೋರ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ವಿಚಾರ ವೇದಿಕೆ ಸಹಯೋಗದೊಂದಿಗೆ "ಶಾಸನ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಕೃತಿ ಪ್ರಜ್ಞೆ" ವಿಷಯದ ಮೇಲೆ ವಿಶೇಷ ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು  ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು.

ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾವನೆಯನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿಯ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕರಾದ ಡಾ.ಎಸ್.ಚಂದ್ರಕಿರಣ್ ಕುಳವಾಡಿ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿಯು ವರ್ಷದ ಪ್ರತಿ ತಿಂಗಳು ಚಕೋರ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದು ಬೆಳದಿಂಗಳನ್ನು ಮೊಗೆದು ಕುಡಿಯುವ ಕಾಲ್ವನಿಕ ಪಕ್ಷಿಗೆ ಚಕೋರ ಎನ್ನಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ  ಇದರ ಮೂಲಕ ನಾಡಿನ ಜನತೆಗೆ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಪರಿಚಯಿಸುವ ಸದುದ್ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದು ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು 40000 ಸಾವಿರ ಶಾಸನಗಳು ದೊರಕಿದ್ದು ಶಾಸನವನ್ನು ಈ ನೆಲದ ಕಣ್ಣು ಎನ್ನಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಶಾಸನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ಚರಿತೆ ಗತವೈಭವವನ್ನು ಕಾಣಬಹುದು ಎಂದರು.

ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಪನ್ಮೂಲ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳಾಗಿ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದ್ದ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಗಂಗೂಬಾಯಿ ಹಾನಗಲ್ ಸಂಗೀತ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಕ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಕುಲಸಚಿವರಾದ ಪ್ರೊ.ಎಂ.ಜಿ.ಮಂಜುನಾಥ  "ಶಾಸನ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಕೃತಿ ಪ್ರಜ್ಞೆ" ವಿಷಯದ ಮೇಲೆ ವಿಶೇಷ ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸ ನೀಡುತ್ತ ಶಾಸನಗಳಿಗೆ 2300 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಭವ್ಯವಾದ ಇತಿಹಾಸವಿದೆ ಕ್ರಿ.ಪೂ.3 ನೇ ಶತಮಾನದ ಅಶೋಕನ ಶಾಸನಗಳೇ ಮೊದಲು ಬೆಳಕಿಗೆ ಬಂದವು ರಾಜರು ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳು, ಆನೆದಂತ, ಮೂಳೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಮರದ ತೊಲೆ ಮುಂತಾದವುಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಶಾಸನಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊರೆಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ರಾಜರು ಶಾಸನಗಳ‌ ಮೂಲಕ‌ ಪರಿಸರ ಪ್ರಜ್ಞೆಯನ್ನು ಮೆರೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಅಶೋಕ ತನ್ನ ಆಡಳಿತದ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಲು ಮರಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿಸಿದ್ದರು.ವಿಜಯನಗರದ ಅರಸರು ಕರೆಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ನಿರ್ಮಾತೃ ಕೆಂಪೇಗೌಡರು ಮಳೆನೀರು ಕೋಯ್ಲು ಪದ್ಧತಿಯನ್ನು ಅಳವಡಿಸಿದ್ದರು ಆ ಮೂಲಕ ಅರ್ಕಾವತಿ ನದಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಹಲವಾರು ಕೆರೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಹುಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಕಾರಣರಾದರು. ಕೃಷ್ಣದೇವರಾಯನ ಗುರುಗಳಾದ ವ್ಯಸರಾಯರು ಹಲವು ಕೆರೆಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಕರಿಕಾಲಚೋಳ ಕಾವೇರಿ ನದಿಯ ದಂಡೆಯನ್ನು ಎತ್ತರಿಸಿ ಪರಿಸರದ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣೆಗೆ ಕಾರಣರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದರು.

ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆಯನ್ನು ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲೆ ಎನ್.ಭಾರತಿ ಮನುಷ್ಯ ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಸಮನ್ವಯ ಸಾಧಿಸಬೇಕು ಹಸಿರೇ ಉಸಿರು ಎನ್ನುವಂತೆ ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯನ್ನು ಗೌರವಿಸಿ ನಡೆಯಬೇಕು ನಮ್ಮ ಇಡೀ ನಿಸರ್ಗವೇ ಶಾಸನವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದರು

ಈ  ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಐಕ್ಯೂಎಸಿ ಸಂಚಾಲಕಿ ಕೆ.ಎಸ್.ಸುಕೃತ, ಚಕೋರ ವೇದಿಕೆಯ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಸಂಚಾಲಕರಾದ ಡಾ.ಯೋಗೇಶ, ಡಾ.ಶಭಾನ, ಕನ್ನಡ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥೆ ಡಾ.ವಿನೋದ, ಸಹಾಯಕ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪರುಗಳಾದ ಬಿ.ಎನ್.ಮಾರುತಿ ಪ್ರಸನ್ನ, ಡಾ. ಕೆ.ಎನ್.ಅರುಣ್ ಕುಮಾರ್, ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಅಧ್ಯಾಪಕರು ಹಾಗೂ 140 ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು.

The University of Mysore celebrated its 110th Foundation Day on 27 July 2026 in Crawford Hall, Mysuru, marking 110 years of academic excellence and institutional growth. Representing MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, Dr. N. Bharathi, Principal, Smt. Anitha P. Jayaram, NSS Coordinator, and 15 NSS volunteers participated in the celebration.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Prof. N. K. Lokanath, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore, who highlighted the University's remarkable legacy and its significant contributions to higher education and research. Prof. (Dr.) Parikshat Singh Manhas, Director, Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and delivered an inspiring address on the rich legacy of the University.

The celebration reflected the University's continued commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and holistic student development. The participation of the Principal, NSS Coordinator, and NSS volunteers from MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya reaffirmed the institution's dedication to nurturing leadership, service, and community engagement among students.

The Department of Commerce organized the Commerce Club Office Bearers Election on 23 July 2026 under the coordination of Mr. Syed Sadath, Assistant Professor and Commerce Club Coordinator. A total of 297 students from I, II, and III B.Com participated enthusiastically in the election. The event was conducted to promote democratic values, leadership qualities, and active student participation in college activities. It provided students with an opportunity to elect their representatives through a fair and transparent process while fostering responsibility, accountability, teamwork, and decision-making skills. The following students were elected as the office bearers of the Commerce Club: Abhigna Dasai (III B.Com 'A') as President, Samhitha P. Bhat (II B.Com 'B') as Vice President, Deepanjali Nag (I B.Com 'B') as Secretary, and Bhavana M. (III B.Com 'B') as Treasurer. The newly elected office bearers will lead the Commerce Club in organizing various academic, cultural, and co-curricular activities, contributing to the holistic development of Commerce students during the academic year. All the Commerce Department staff members were present during the election.

The Literary Committee of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, organized an Essay Writing Competition under Talent Hunt 2026 on 27 August 2026. The competition was conducted on the theme "Women Empowerment: Challenges and Opportunities" in English, Kannada, and Hindi.

A total of 75 students participated enthusiastically, expressing their views on women's empowerment through creative and analytical writing. The essays were evaluated by Mr. Maruthi Prasanna, Assistant Professor, Department of Kannada, and Mr. Sachin M. K., Assistant Professor, Department of English.

The event was organized by Dr. Shrinivas, Literary Committee Coordinator, under the guidance of Prof. N. Bharathi, Principal, and Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, IQAC Coordinator. Committee members Dr. Arun kumar, Ms. Vachana were present during the competition. The competition provided a valuable platform for students to enhance their writing skills and reflect on an important social issue, making the programme a grand success.

To mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Legal Literacy Committee (LLC) of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysore, organized an awareness programme on 30 June 2026 for the second-year students of BCA, BSc, and BCom.

Mr. Lakshmikanth, IPS Officer, Lakshmipuram Police Station, Mysore, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and keynote speaker. In his address, he highlighted the serious psychological, physiological, and social consequences of substance abuse and emphasized the importance of making informed choices, resisting peer pressure, and leading a healthy lifestyle. He also created awareness about the legal implications of drug-related offences and the collective responsibility of society in combating drug trafficking.

Around 80 to 100 students actively participated in the programme and interacted with the resource person, gaining valuable insights into the dangers of substance addiction and the importance of staying drug-free.

The programme aimed to educate students about the harmful effects of drug abuse, encourage them to identify and resist negative influences, and promote collective action against illicit drug trafficking. The awareness session inspired students to become responsible citizens and ambassadors for a drug-free society.

Building a Strong Foundation: Bridge Course Empowers First-Year BCA Students

The Department of Computer Science successfully organized a Bridge Course for the newly admitted Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) students from 03.07.2026 to 15.07.2026. The programme was designed to facilitate a smooth transition from pre-university education to undergraduate studies by strengthening students' foundational knowledge and preparing them for the academic rigour of the BCA programme.

The course was meticulously planned and conducted by the faculty members of the department under the guidance of Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, Head of the Department. The curriculum encompassed a wide spectrum of fundamental topics, including Computer Fundamentals, Operating Systems, Computer Networks, Database Management Systems, Software Engineering, Programming Basics, Problem-Solving Techniques, Hardware Fundamentals, Internet Concepts, and Emerging Technologies and Tools.

The two-week programme featured interactive lectures enabling students to actively participate in the learning process. Special emphasis was placed on developing logical thinking, programming aptitude and problem-solving skills thereby equipping students with the confidence required to pursue their academic journey successfully.

The bridge course proved particularly beneficial for students from diverse academic backgrounds by bridging knowledge gaps and creating a level playing field. Beyond academic preparedness, it also fostered meaningful faculty–student interaction, helping students acclimatize to the college environment and promoting a culture of collaborative learning.

The programme received an enthusiastic response from the participants, who appreciated its well-structured content, interactive approach and practical orientation. By providing a solid academic foundation and instilling confidence, the Bridge Course effectively laid the cornerstone for a successful and rewarding BCA journey.

Ignite 2026: Sparking Aspirations, Shaping Futures

To warmly welcome the newest members of the BCA family, the Department of Computer Science organized "Ignite 2026", an orientation programme for the first-year Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) students on 13th July 2026. The programme, led by Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, Head of the Department, witnessed the enthusiastic participation of more than 100 students, creating an inspiring start to their academic journey.

The orientation was designed to help students transition confidently into college life by providing a comprehensive introduction to the department's vision, mission, academic excellence, and student-centric learning environment. Participants gained valuable insights into the BCA curriculum, programme structure, academic regulations, and the diverse learning opportunities that await them throughout their three-year programme.

Students were introduced to the department's experienced faculty members and its culture of innovation, research and academic excellence. The session showcased the department's notable achievements, including outstanding university results, student accomplishments, faculty research publications, patents, awards, technical events, industry collaborations, internships, and placement opportunities. The importance of active participation in technical clubs, value-added courses, seminars, workshops, and skill development programmes was also emphasized, encouraging students to make the most of their college experience.

The session enabled students to engage freely with faculty members, seek clarification on academic expectations and familiarize themselves with the supportive learning ecosystem of the department. The programme not only addressed their queries but also instilled confidence, motivation and a sense of belonging, helping them embrace the exciting challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Ignite 2026 concluded on an inspiring note, empowering students with the knowledge, confidence, and enthusiasm to embark on a successful academic journey and prepare themselves to become competent, innovative and socially responsible IT professionals.

The Cultural Committee of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, organized "Talent Hunt 2026–27" for first-year students of all streams on 24 July 2026. The event aimed to identify, encourage, and promote the cultural talents of freshers coordinated by  Dr. Vinoda,  Cultural Committee Coordinator .

A total of 66 students from BCA, B.Com, BBA, and B.Sc. participated enthusiastically in various events, including singing, dance, and skit performances. The programme was graced by Prof. N. Bharathi, Principal, Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, IQAC Coordinator, and Smt. Jyothi Lakshmi G. Kava, Student Welfare Officer, along with teaching and non-teaching staff and Student Council members.

The Cultural Committee members—Dr. Shwetha S., Mr. Abhishek S., Smt. Chaitra H. V., Ms. Kavyashree K. L., Ms. Ankitha S., and Smt. Geetha R.—coordinated the event successfully. Performances were evaluated by the jury based on coordination, costumes, expression, and overall presentation.

The event featured vibrant performances that reflected creativity, confidence, and teamwork. A thought-provoking skit highlighting women's safety received special appreciation, while energetic Gujarati folk and Bollywood dance performances captivated the audience with their colourful costumes and graceful choreography. The programme provided an excellent platform for students to exhibit their talents and fostered a spirit of cultural participation and creativity.

The IQAC, in association with the NSS Unit, Rangers, and Youth Red Cross (YRC) of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Krishnamurthypuram, Mysuru, organized an Orientation Programme on 21 July 2026 at 10:00 AM in the college auditorium. The programme aimed to familiarize students with the activities of NSS, Rangers, and YRC while promoting leadership, responsible citizenship, community engagement, and the spirit of social service.

The programme was presided over by Prof. N. Bharathi, Principal. Dr. Diwakar Chandy, NCC & YRC Nodal Officer, University of Mysore, graced the occasion as the resource person. The event was coordinated by Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, IQAC Coordinator, Smt. Anitha P. Jayaram, NSS Programme Officer, Smt. Malathi, Rangers Coordinator, and Mr. Syed Sadath, YRC Coordinator, with the support of the organizing faculty members.

Addressing the students, Dr. Diwakar Chandy emphasized the importance of youth participation in community service, leadership development, and nation-building. He encouraged students to actively engage in social and educational initiatives and contribute towards creating an inclusive and responsible society.

On the occasion, Ms. Nandini of III B.Com 'A', a Rajya Puraskar (Governor's Award) recipient in Rangers/Rovers, and Ms. Rakshitha of II B.Sc., who represented the college at the National Integration Camp (NIC) through NSS, were felicitated for their outstanding achievements.

The programme concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from all first year degree students and faculty members, motivating them to become active volunteers and responsible citizens through the activities of NSS, Rangers, and YRC.

MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, conducted the Students' Council Office Bearers Election for the academic year 2026–2027 on July 18, 2026. The election was held among the 36 Class Representatives of BCA, B.Com., BBA, and B.Sc. programmes.

Smt. Jyothilakshmi G. Kava, Student Welfare Officer, explained the election process to the representatives. Addressing the gathering, Prof. N. Bharathi, Principal, highlighted the significance of voting responsibly and choosing capable leaders. She emphasized that effective leadership is built on qualities such as empathy, resilience, adaptability, teamwork, integrity, strong communication, and sound decision-making. 

The elected office bearers are: President – Ms. Sanjana M. H. (III BCA 'B'), Vice President – Ms. Manjula (II B.Com. 'A'), Secretary – Ms. Vaishnavi R. (III B.Com. 'B'), Joint Secretaries – Ms. Niharika Patel A. J. (III B.Com. 'A') and Ms. Sinchana Hegde (II BBA), Cultural Secretary – Ms. Adithi Bharadwaj M. (III B.Com. 'B'), Literary Secretary – Ms. Thashma B. M. (III B.Com. 'A'), and Sports Secretary – Ms. Manya R. B. (III B.Sc. BtBM).

Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, IQAC Coordinator, graced the occasion and congratulated the newly elected council members. The programme was organized by the Student Welfare Committee comprising members  Dr. Devaki,  Dr. Shwetha S.,  Smt. Ujwala, Ms. Bhavyashree, Ms. Kavyashree, and Ms. Vachana. The event was also attended by the Heads of Departments and faculty members of the college.

The NSS Unit of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya organized a General Health Check-Up Camp on 11 July 2026 in association with ClearMedi Multispeciality Hospital for the parents and staff of the college. A total of 84 parents and staff members benefited from the health camp.

The programme was conducted with the objective of promoting preventive healthcare by assessing the overall health of the participants through basic medical examinations. The health check-up facilitated the early detection of common health conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, anaemia, and other lifestyle-related diseases. The camp also created awareness about the importance of regular health screenings and encouraged participants to adopt healthy lifestyle practices, seek timely medical advice, and prioritize their physical and mental well-being.

The initiative reflected the institution's commitment to promoting health awareness and fostering a healthy community through preventive healthcare measures.

The programme was coordinated by Smt. Anita P. Jayaram, NSS Programme Officer, in the presence of the NSS committee members and faculty volunteers, who ensured the successful conduct of the health check-up camp.

The IQAC and NSS Unit of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, organized a Workshop on Shikshagraha on 14 July 2026 in the college auditorium. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about leadership, community engagement, and responsible citizenship.

The programme was presided over by Prof. N. Bharathi, Principal. The resource persons, Mr. Suresh, NSS Coordinator, University of Mysore; Mr. Narayan, Manager, Mantra4Change; Mr. Baswaraju, Manager, Shikshagraha Community Leadership; and Mr. Siddharaju, Coordinator, Shikshagraha Community Leadership, emphasized the importance of community leadership, educational transformation, and the role of youth in bringing positive social change. They encouraged students to actively participate in community initiatives and develop leadership qualities.

Coordinated by Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, IQAC Coordinator, and Smt. Anita P. Jayaram, NSS Programme Officer, the workshop was attended by 12 NSS Coordinators from various colleges and 37 NSS student volunteers.

The workshop successfully familiarized students with the vision of the Shikshagraha movement and inspired them to become responsible citizens by contributing meaningfully to society through leadership, collaboration, and community service.

The Department of Commerce organized a guest lecture on "Career Prospects in Professional Courses" on 13 July 2026 for the first-year B.Com and BBA students. The programme aimed to create awareness about various professional courses and guide students in making informed career choices at an early stage.

Mr. Brijesh Patel N., Managing Director, Challengers Academy, Mysuru, was the resource person for the session. He provided comprehensive information about professional courses such as Chartered Accountancy (CA), Company Secretary (CS), and Cost and Management Accountancy (CMA). He explained the eligibility criteria, course structure, career opportunities, and essential skills required to succeed in these professions. He also highlighted the importance of setting clear career goals, continuous learning, and developing professional competence to achieve long-term success.

The session was highly interactive, with students enthusiastically participating and seeking clarification on various career-related aspects. The lecture successfully enhanced students' awareness of professional education and motivated them to pursue professional qualifications alongside their undergraduate studies, enabling them to plan their careers with greater confidence and clarity.

The programme was organized by Mr. Prashanth Jain H. V., Head, Department of Commerce, and coordinated by Ms. Bhavyashree Bhat P. B., Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce. The session was held on 13 July 2026 at 10:30 a.m. in the College Auditorium and was attended by 141 students of I B.Com 'A', I B.Com 'B', and I BBA.

The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), in association with the IQAC of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, organized a Parent-Teacher Orientation Programme on 11 July 2026 at 10:30 a.m. in the college auditorium for the parents of all first-year degree students.

The programme was graced by Prof. N. Bharathi, Principal, Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, IQAC Coordinator, and Dr. Harshitha Mallik, PTA Coordinator. Dr. Vinoda, Head, Department of Kannada, addressed the gathering and briefed the parents on the rules and regulations of the college. Prof. N. Bharathi, in her presidential address, emphasized the importance of active parent-teacher collaboration in supporting students' academic and personal development.

During the programme, Sri Maruti Prasanna, Assistant Professor, Department of Kannada, conducted the nomination process for the PTA office bearers. Eight parent representatives from different streams were nominated to the PTA Executive Committee.

Around 40 parents participated in the programme, making the event informative and successful.

The NSS Unit of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya organized a Youth for Seva Orientation Programme on 10 July 2026 in the college auditorium to encourage students to actively participate in community service. Around 200 students attended the programme.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Lakshminarayan, Assistant Director, Government Ayurveda Research Institute, who highlighted the importance of selfless service and urged students to cultivate a spirit of volunteerism by contributing to community welfare. Mr. Sheikh Nihal, Founder, Creanity Studios encouraged students to participate in social service activities and advised them to set clear goals and work diligently towards achieving them.

Mr. Deepak, representing Youth for Seva, introduced the organization's various initiatives, including adoption of government schools, tailoring training for women, distribution of books and school bags to underprivileged students, English language training for school children, and the organization of health camps. He motivated students to understand the significance of community service and become responsible citizens.

Presiding over the programme, Prof. N. Bharathi, Principal, encouraged students to remain socially connected through selfless service and strive to lead meaningful and successful lives. The programme successfully created awareness about volunteering opportunities and inspired students to actively engage in community service initiatives.
