Aug 29th, 2025 the Department of Commerce organized a Tally Orientation Program for I B.Com ‘A’, ‘B’ and I BBA students at the college auditorium.
The session was led by Dr. Rachana Mahesh, Founder & MD of Edukare ITES, who emphasized the role of Tally in accounting, financial reporting, taxation, and business operations. Students were introduced to practical aspects such as ledger creation, voucher entries, and GST modules, gaining hands-on exposure through live demonstrations.
The interactive session helped students understand how Tally proficiency can enhance career opportunities in commerce and management.
The program was organized by Mr. Prashanth Jain H. V., Head of the Department of Commerce, and coordinated by Ms. Divyashree R, Assistant Professor, with the support of faculty members, Ms. Suprada Jain M., Mr. Syed Sadath, Ms. Prathima M., Mr. Mahadevaswamy S., Mrs. Harshitha Mallik, and Ms. Bhavyashree Bhat P.B.
The Literary Committee of MMK and SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysore, organized the Talent Hunt – Literary Events, which included a Debate Competition and an Essay Writing Competition, attracting the participation of 45 students.
The Debate Competition was held on 28th August 2025 from 2:10 PM to 3:10 PM in Room No. S206 on the topic “Freedom of speech should have limits in the digital age.” The judges were Dr. Srinivas, Head of the Department of Sanskrit, and Ms. Vani Hemanth, Assistant Professor, Department of English. Students put forth compelling arguments both for and against the motion, demonstrating their analytical and communication skills.
The Essay Writing Competition took place on 30th August 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM in Room No. S206 on the topic “Mental health is as important as physical health: Breaking the stigma.” It was assessed by Mr. Sachin M. K., Assistant Professor, Department of English, and Dr. Arun Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Kannada. Participants presented thoughtful insights on the importance of mental health and the need to overcome stigma in society.
Both events were conducted seamlessly and showcased the enthusiasm, creativity, and literary talent of the students.
A Home Management Session on “First Aid, Home Nursing, Prevention and Remedies” was held on 30th August 2025 at MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysore. The resource person for the event was Sri Prabhudeva M. K., Head – HR and Trainer at Ayushman Health Care, Mysore. He spoke on the importance of first aid as an immediate and life-saving response during accidents and emergencies, emphasizing that basic knowledge can greatly reduce the severity of injuries. He also discussed home nursing, highlighting the vital role of family members in providing emotional support, assisting with hygiene, medication, and mobility, especially for the elderly and those recovering from illness. The speaker further addressed the holistic aspects of healing, including physical, emotional, and mental recovery, stressing the need for good nutrition, rest, and a supportive environment. The objective of the session was to create awareness and build practical knowledge among students regarding first aid and home-based patient care, and the outcome was highly beneficial as students gained useful skills and understanding. A total of 270 students participated in the program, which was actively supported by faculty members Sri Maruti Prasanna( Coordinator), Smt. Rajarajeshwari R., Smt. Kavya S. N., Smt. Namratha D., Smt. Chaitra H. V., and Ms. Divyashree R.
On 29th August 2025, Mr. Syed Sadath, the coordinator of the Commerce Club, organized an interclass competition titled "Capital Quest". The event saw the participation of 20 teams, consisting of a total of 60 students. The winners of the competition were Poojitha KV, Vamshi Dechamma, and Neha M, who secured the first place, while Lakshmishree V, Dipsikha Konwar, and Yashaswini MS took the second place. The primary objective of this interclass activity was to provide students with an opportunity to apply theoretical concepts of commerce to practical scenarios. It aimed to foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork, while also promoting healthy competition and collaboration among students from different classes. Through this event, the Commerce Club encouraged a deeper understanding and greater interest in commerce and business studies, helping students develop important skills for their future careers.
Miss Divija Bharadwaj, a student of I B.Com “B” at MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, won First Prize in the Folk Song (Janapada Geethe) category at “Chiranthana” – the State Level Inter-Collegiate Literature Fest, held at Hindustan College, Mysuru, on 29th August 2025.
On 29th August 2025, the Department of Computer Science, in collaboration with the Tech Amateur IT Club, organized an Inter-class IT Quiz for the students of BCA and B.Sc. Computer Science.
The primary objective of the competition was to assess and enhance students’ knowledge in the field of Information Technology, foster analytical thinking and encourage awareness of emerging trends and advancements in the IT domain. Such events provide students with an excellent platform to sharpen their technical skills, boost self-confidence, and prepare themselves to become competent IT professionals.
A total of 57 students actively participated in the competition. The winners were:

The Department of Computer Science organized an Alumni Faculty Program on 29th August 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., in Room S206, for Third Year BCA ‘A’ and ‘B’ section students, with a total of 100 participants. The program was coordinated by Smt. Jyothilakshmi G. Kava, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science. The session was delivered by alumna Smt. Brunda R., Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, Maharani’s Science College for Women (Autonomous), Mysuru, from the 2012–2015 BCA batch. She presented a lecture on “Cloud Platforms in Industry,” aimed at enhancing students’ knowledge of cloud computing.
The lecture provided students with insights into Amazon Web Services (AWS), including its history, applications, and services, illustrated with real-life examples. The program helped participants understand the practical relevance of cloud platforms in the industry and enriched their conceptual knowledge, preparing them for future professional opportunities in cloud computing.
On 28th August 2025, the Department of Computer Science of MMK & SDM Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Mysore organized a workshop on “Transition from Classroom to Workplace – An Employability Roadmap.” The first session was conducted by Mr. Srinivas, Data Science Principal Consultant at A Cube, Mysore, who spoke on “Data Science Applications and Opportunities.” He highlighted the growing scope of data science in the industry and its practical applications. The second session was led by Mr. Anto Kriston, Director at A Cube, Mysore, who focused on personality development, leadership qualities, and the importance of shifting from a student mindset to a leadership mindset. He also emphasized the need for continuous upgrading and upskilling in order to stay relevant in the professional world.
The workshop was held at the College Auditorium at 11:00 a.m. with the participation of 70 III BCA students. Through the sessions, students gained insights into industry-relevant applications of data science, strategies for personal and professional growth, and ways to prepare themselves for workplace challenges. The event was organized by Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, HOD & Associate Professor and coordinated by Smt. Ramya S. K., Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science.
The festival of Ganesha Chaturthi was celebrated on 29th August 2025 at MMK and SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, under the guidance of the Student Welfare Committee. The event was graced by Prof. Bharathi N., Principal (Degree), Prof. Nayanakumari, Principal (PUC), Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, IQAC Coordinator, and Smt. Jyothilakshmi G. Kava, Student Welfare Officer.
Faculty, staff, and students participated with devotion, reflecting unity and cultural spirit. Bhajans and devotional songs by students and staff enriched the occasion, followed by the distribution of prasada and sweets. The celebration was a spiritually uplifting and memorable experience for all.
On 29th August 2025, a group of 11 students from different academic streams visited the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Court, Mysore, under the Legal Literacy Club initiative coordinated by Ms. Prathima M. The students were addressed by Hon’ble Judge Smt. Naveen Kumari, who shared valuable insights on consumer rights and legal procedures. Between 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., they observed live courtroom proceedings, including arguments, dispute hearings, and case presentations.
The visit was designed to provide students with practical exposure to judicial processes and mechanisms of dispute resolution, thereby enhancing their legal awareness and sense of responsible consumer behavior. By directly experiencing court proceedings, students were able to connect classroom learning with real-world practice and develop a deeper understanding of the role of public institutions. Following the visit, students have been tasked with preparing a detailed report on their observations.

On 21st August 2025, Smt. Ramya S. K. Associate professor and Ms. Sowmya N, Assistant professor from the Department of Computer Science, MMK and SDM Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Mysuru, along with 10 students, attended the Infosys Springboard Summit 2025 at the Infosys Campus in Mysuru. The event introduced participants to various learning opportunities offered through the Springboard platform, including internships, Pragathi courses, and AI-focused skill development. It featured expert sessions on emerging technologies, career readiness, and the importance of continuous learning. The summit provided valuable insights into future tech trends and enhanced academic-industry collaboration.

He delivered an insightful session on “Career Opportunities in Professional Courses”, focusing on the scope, relevance, and advantages of pursuing professional qualifications in today’s competitive world. Mr. Venkata Krishna shared practical guidance on skill development, industry requirements, and career planning, inspiring students to set clear goals and work towards achieving them. The engaging lecture also highlighted how professional courses can enhance employability and open diverse career paths across industries. Miss Nirma V and Miss Shreedevi A.S., students of III B.Sc. at MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, secured the Second Prize in the Quiz Competition at the Prayagraj Inter-Collegiate Management Fest, held at GSSS Engineering College for Women, Mysuru, on 21st August 2025.
In addition, Miss Sinchana B.M. (III B.Sc.), Miss Kavya S. (III B.Sc.), Miss Harshini R. (III B.Sc.), Miss Shreya B.M. (III B.Com.), Miss Keerthana B. (III B.Com.), Miss Maanya (I B.T.B.M.), Miss Monisha B.V. (II B.Com.), and Miss Lekhana (II B.T.B.M.) secured the Second Prize in the Tug of War competition.
A Home Management Session on “The Role of Women in Family Values and Relationship Management” was held on 16th August 2025 at MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysore. The event was graced by Prof. Nayana Kumari, Principal of MMK & SDM Girls PU College, as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Vinoda as the resource person. Prof. Nayana Kumari highlighted the importance of time management and work-life balance, while Smt. K. S. Sukrutha spoke on savings and financial management. Dr. Vinoda delivered an engaging talk on the role of culture, tradition, and financial education in empowering women, reciting the poem “ಸ್ತ್ರೀ ಎಂದರೆ ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಸಾಕೆ?” by G. S. Shivarudrappa to emphasize the essence of womanhood. The objective of the session was to create awareness about the multidimensional roles of women in balancing family, relationships, tradition, and career, and the outcome was highly impactful as students gained insights into work-life balance, financial planning, and relationship management. The Department of Computer Science, in collaboration with the Cocurricular Committee, successfully organized a three-day student enablement program titled "Cyber Security Foundation Certificate" for the second-year BCA students. The initiative, held from 11th August to 13th August 2025, was conducted under the Infosys Springboard platform. The primary objective of the program was to provide students with foundational knowledge in key areas of cybersecurity. Through a series of interactive sessions and learning modules, participants were introduced to essential topics including Introduction to Cyber Security, Fundamentals of Information Security, Network Fundamentals, and Fundamentals of Cryptography. This program not only enhanced the students' technical understanding but also prepared them for future academic and professional pursuits in the field of cybersecurity.
To commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sudha Murthy, a book exhibition was organized at the MMK & SDM MMV Library, Mysuru, on 19th August 2025. The exhibition featured books authored by Dr. Murthy, with the objective of creating awareness among students about the availability of her works in the library. A total of 91 students and 13 faculty members visited and viewed the exhibition.
The Department of English inaugurated its new club, Ink & Insights, with an engaging orientation session led by Chief Guest Smt. Seemanthini, a renowned professional development coach. Her interactive workshop encouraged students to think critically, communicate effectively, and embrace continuous learning.

Students from MMK and SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, participated in the Intercollegiate Write-Up Competition organized by the NIEFGC NDLI Club on 20th July 2025. The theme of the competition was "Think Before You Sink: The Truth About Narcotics," and it witnessed enthusiastic participation from 27 students representing various colleges. Four students from our college—Ms. Srijitha (III B.Sc), Ms. Kshama (III B.Sc), Ms. Unathi (III B.Sc), and Ms. Lavanya (III BCA)—actively took part in the event. Ms. Kshama of III B.Sc secured First Place in the competition and was awarded a cash prize of Rs.2000. The prize was presented to her on 15th August 2025 during the Independence Day celebrations. All the participating students were congratulated and appreciated by the Principal for their excellent performance and for bringing recognition to the college through their meaningful contributions.
Book exhibition organized to celebrate Sanskrit day was held at the college library on 16th August 2025 to create awareness about the history and importance of Sanskrit language. Sanskrit books were displayed on the occasion 47 students and 9 faculty viewed the exhibition
Book exhibition was held in MMK SDM MMV Library, Mysore to commemorate Indian Independence day on 16.08.2025 to nurture patriotic pride and national unity. Books on freedom struggle, biographies of freedom fighters and charts prepared by the students on freedom fighters were displayed on the occasion. 47 students and 9 faculty viewed the exhibition.

MMK & SDM MMV and MMK & SDM Girls PU College, Mysuru jointly celebrated the 79th Independence Day on 15th August 2025, with patriotic zeal and joy.
The program was presided over by Smt. Nayana Kumari, Principal, MMK & SDM Girls, PU college and Smt. KS Sukrutha, In-charge principal and IQAC Coordinator, MMK & SDM MMV was the Guest of honor.
Chief Guest M. Chandrashekar, President, District Sharana Sahithya Parishath, Mysore, hoisted the national flag, followed by the national anthem and sweet distribution.
His inspiring speech honored freedom fighters and emphasized innovation, duty and women’s empowerment for nation-building.
He mentioned that the citizens should follow the principles thought by eminent leaders.
He insisted that the women's class should get complete progress through sportiveness, determination and build a strong India as a way of life.
Students from PU and degree departments showcased patriotic dances, songs, and recitations, adding vibrancy to the celebration for the cultural event.
The campus was festively decorated under the guidance of Student Welfare Officers Smt. Jyothi Lakshmi G Kava (Degree college) and Smt. Jitha K N., (PU college) and Smt. Malathi, Physical Director guided the students.

On 13th August 2025, the Commerce Club organized an interclass competition titled "Brainstorm Battle." A total of 23 teams from I, II, and III B.Com actively participated in the event. The primary objective of the competition was to enhance students’ knowledge and understanding of commerce-related concepts, encourage critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and promote healthy competition, teamwork, and collaboration. It also aimed at identifying young talent and preparing students for future careers in commerce and related fields. The winners of the competition were: Lakshmishree V and Vaishnavi R – First Place; Thashma and Manya Bai – Second Place; and Adithi Bharadwaj and Anagha Bharadwaj – Third Place. During the program Mr. Syed Sadath, Coordinator, Commerce Club, Ms. Suprada Jain M, and ms. Bhavyashree Bhat, Assistant professors of Commerce dept were present.
On 12th August 2025, volunteers from the Youth Red Cross, NSS, and Rangers & Rovers participated in a Drug Awareness Rally in Mysuru. The rally aimed to educate the public, especially youth, on the harmful effects of drug abuse and promote prevention and community involvement.
The event was attended by Smt. K. S. Sukrutha (IQAC Coordinator), Mr. Syed Sadath (Youth Red Cross Coordinator), Smt. Anitha P. Jayaram (NSS Coordinator), and Smt. Malathi (Physical Education Director).
The Students’ Council Inauguration was held on 2nd August 2025 at MMK and SDM MMV, Mysuru, meticulously organized by the Student Welfare Committee. The event commenced with an invocation by students and the lighting of the lamp by Chief Guest Prof. Suttur S. Malini , Dept. of Genetics and genomics from the University of Mysore, along with Prof. Bharathi N, Principal of MMK & SDM MMV, Smt. Jyothi Lakshmi Kava, Student Welfare Officer, Prof. Nayanakumari, Principal of SDM Girls’ PU College, and Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, IQAC Coordinator. Smt. Jyothi Lakshmi Kava presented badges to the newly elected council members, who then took their official oath. Prof. Nayanakumari congratulated the council and remarked that the inauguration marks the beginning of academic activities and the celebration of leadership and responsibility. Prof. Bharathi N, in her presidential address, emphasized teamwork, encouraging students to be self-motivated and appreciate the value of diverse group collaboration in achieving success.
In her address, the Chief Guest highlighted that society advances when girls are empowered, and applauded the student leaders, noting that multitasking is fundamental to women’s empowerment and leadership. She urged students to identify their inner potential, adopt healthy habits for better physical and mental balance, and shared that nutritious diets boost serotonin, aiding brain development and innovation. She advised using mobile phones constructively, reducing social media through “digital fasting,” and embracing transformation through good food, physical activity, meditation, mindfulness, hygiene, and environmental responsibility. The event concluded with a vibrant cultural programme featuring 192 participants from various streams, coordinated by Dr. Vinoda, Cultural Committee Coordinator.
On 12th August, 2025 Wall Magazine Program was inaugurated with vibrant displays from all departments, showcasing the creative efforts of both faculty and students. Dr. Ashwini, Assistant Professor, Government First Grade College, Talakadu, Mysuru, served as the Chief Guest. She visited each display, commending the creativity, critical thinking, and enthusiasm demonstrated.
This program marked the commencement of the Literary Committee’s activities for the academic year, reflecting the institution’s commitment to fostering creativity and interdisciplinary expression.

A book exhibition was organized in the College Library to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, which is observed as National Librarian’s Day on 12th August 2025. The exhibition featured a selection of reference books useful for preparing for competitive examinations. The primary objective of the event was to raise awareness among students about the availability of such resources in the library. A total of 127 students and 8 faculty members visited and viewed the exhibition.
On 11th August 2025, the Department of Biochemistry organized an industrial visit for III B.Sc. BMBt students to B.V. Pundit Sadhvidhyashala, Nanjangud. The visit, held from 10 AM to 4 PM, aimed to enhance students' practical knowledge, employability and skills through interaction with industry experts. Dr. Anuradha, Quality Administrator, guided the students through various traditional Ayurvedic practices involved in herbal medicine formulation. Students explored departments handling Lehayam, Kashayam, pills, churnas, tailas, and herbal biscuits, observing quality control and regulatory compliance procedures. The visit provided valuable insights into the principles, raw materials, and processes of traditional Indian medicine. A total of 19 students participated in the visit with Smt. Meghana M, HOD and Ms. Kanthashree B L, Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry.
On 7th August 2025, Smt. Ramya S. K., Coordinator of the Staff Club Committee, organized a MOVIE SHOW TIME event at PVR, Garuda Mall, Mysore. The event was attended by 11 staff members (both teaching and non-teaching) along with 9 family members, making a total of 20 members enjoyed the movie SU FROM SO.
The Department of Business Administration, MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, organized an insightful One Day Outbound Training for all BBA students in association with Academy for Experiential Learning on 11th August 2025.
The program was led by Dr. Kotresh Patil, Director – Academy for Experiential Learning, the session emphasized the power of genuine appreciation and the science behind effective compliments. Students learned the 3-Part Compliment Formula – Specific Action + Positive Impact + Emotion/Gratitude – and how small acts of recognition can strengthen trust, relationships, and teamwork.
The workshop was an engaging blend of psychology, communication skills, and practical challenges, encouraging students to put their learning into action immediately.

Office bearers election refers to the process of selecting individuals to hold positions of authority or responsibility in an institution. This typically involves students of the institution for casting votes to elect individuals who will represent and make decisions on their behalf. In this regard, the Tech amateur IT Club of department of Computer Science conducted an election for the office bearers for the academic year 2025-26 on 7/8/2025. The elected office bearers include positions such as president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary, treasurer. The election process usually includes nomination, campaigning, voting, and announcing the results. The election was conducted online.

The NSS unit inaugurated its activities for the academic year with an inspiring session by the resource person Dr. Kalechanne Gowda, Retired Principal of Maharaja’s College and recipient of the Indira Gandhi National NSS Award. He emphasized that NSS goes beyond routine service, serving as a platform for personality development, leadership, and social responsibility. NSS Coordinator Smt. Anita P. Jayaram and committee members were present, and the event saw active participation from all NSS volunteers.
On August 6, 2025, the Science and Nature Club organized an orientation program for its member students. The session was held from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM with the objective of introducing students to the club’s activities and emphasizing its significance. The program was coordinated by Smt. Pavitra V, who provided an overview of the club’s initiatives. Other members present at the event included Miss Rajeshwari, Smt. Sahana, and Smt. Kavyashree. A total of 37 students attended the program.
The Department of Commerce and Management organized the inauguration of the Commerce Club (Vijayartha) and the Management Club (Tatva). The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Sri P. Jayachandra Raju, Chairman and Founder Trustee of Daksha Institute, Mysuru. Other dignitaries present included Professor N. Bharathi (President of the event), Smt. Sukrutha K. S. (IQAC Co-ordinator), Mr. Shivabeerappa M. (HOD of Business Administration), Mr. Prashanth Jain H. V. (HOD of Commerce), Mr. Syed Sadath (Co-ordinator of Commerce), and Smt. Hajra Begum (Co-ordinator of Business Administration). The objective of the programme was to enhance students' knowledge, skills, and networking in the fields of commerce and management through competitions and interactive activities that promote professional and practical learning. A total of 254 students participated in the event.
