MMK and SDM Students won prize in Inter Collegiate Fest

Ms Chandana T & Ms Soundarya M  of III BCA  of  MMK & SDM Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Mysore won the First place in "Digital Scavenger Hunt" and Second Prize in "Trivia Event" in Inter Collegiate Fest organised by Sapient College, Mysore on 26nd and 27th March 2024. The college management and the staff congratulate the winners.

Orientation Programme on Infosys Springboard

On 27/03/2024 Department of Computer Science in association with IQAC had organized an Orientation Programme on Infosys Springboard. Infosys is nurturing a skilled and empowered generation that is ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities of the future. The College has established MoU with Infosys SpringBoard. To make use of the MoU efficiently through digital learning and reskilling, the

staff and students are given an orientation programme on how to use the Springboard project effectively.

Mrs. Pruthvi Adishesha, Senior Associate, ETA Learning, Infosys, Bangalore DC inaugurated the programme and gave orientation about Infosys Springboard. She interacted with the staff and students and encouraged the students to enroll for various programs and certificate courses that are offered by the springboard. She also cleared all the doubts regarding the use of the springboard.

Prof Sainath Malligemadu presided over the function and motivated the students to take up the various programs offered by the Infosys springboard free of cost and its importance in today's digital era. Smt K S Sukrutha, IQAC Coordinator & Head, Department of Computer Science and other staff members were present During the programme students were familiarized with springboard courses, certification, internships and programs available in the springboard portal. Students showed their keen interest to enroll themselves for the various online free courses available in Springboard. A total of 345 BCA, B.Sc, B. Com and BBA students and staff members participated in the programme.

Alumni Faculty Program

The Department of Physics and Electronics organized the Alumni Faculty Program for I B.Sc students on 23/03/2024, leveraging Dr. Nalini, Associate Professor, NIE College, Mysore, experience and knowledge in the field. The lecture featured interactive sessions, discussions, and practical demonstrations to elucidate the concept of Hall Effect effectively. Dr Nalini was the first batch student of the college studied during 1990.

One Day Workshop on "Hands on with Artificial Intelligence in Business Field ''

On 28th March, 2024 Department of Business Administration organized a One Day Workshop on "Hands on with Artificial Intelligence in Business Field '' for final year BBA students. 

The objective of the Workshop is to enable the students to evaluate, stand up to the current events, comprehend concepts and to build networks using AI tools. 

Resource Person Dr. Babitha Thimmaiah N, Assistant Professor Department of Management Science, VTU shared the knowledge and made students to experience AI tools like  Chat GPT, Gamma, Canva, Logo maker, Merlin, Linkedin, Blockage of adds in YouTube , Chat with PDF AI, Save to pocket etc... 

Prof. Sainath Malligemadu Principal addresses students about AI platforms which can provide personalized learning experiences to help individual students to acquire new skills and knowledge.

The Workshop Outcome helped students in better understanding of AI tools, networking, encouraged and gained confidence in the usage of the tools. Sri. Shivabeerappa M HOD of Business Administration department, and faculty members of the department were present during the workshop.

"Spin and speak" an Interclass Competition

On 22/3/2024, the Literary Committee of MMK and SDM MMV organized "Spin and speak" competitions for all the students. Spin and speak competitions help students to improve their communication skills, including speaking fluency, articulation, clarity and voice modulation.  Smt Hema, Asst Professor of Electronics and Ms Prathima, Asst Professor of Commerce were Judges. Smt Hajra Begum, Asst Professor of Business Management was the Coordinator and Smt Nayana M P, Asst Professor of Computer Science was the organizer. A total of 16 students participated in competitions

Alumni Interaction session on "Career Guidance and Placement opportunities" 

An Alumni Interaction session was conducted on 23rd March 2024 at MMK and SDM MMV, by Ms. Shravanthi, alumni of the college who is currently working as Process associate, at Gallagher company, Bengaluru on the Topic "Career Guidance and Placement opportunities" in different fields to the students of II B.Com and II BBA Language students. The programme was organized by Dr. Pushpalatha, HoD of Hindi department.

The Alumni Interaction session with Ms. Shravanthi was a resounding success. Students left with renewed motivation, armed with practical advice to navigate their career paths.

‘Prabhigyan - inter collegiate fest - banner launch’ 

On 27th March, 2024, MMK and SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysore, Student Welfare Committee organized “‘PRABHIGYAN’ INTERCOLLEGIATE FEST: BANNER LAUNCH PROGRAMME ''. Professor Sainath Malligemadu, Principal, MMK and SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysore, inaugurated the event, Smt. Nayana Kumari, Principal, MMK and SDM Girls’ P U College, Mysore, Smt. Bharathi N, Vice Principal, Smt. K.S Sukrutha, IQAC Coordinator, Smt. Jyothilakshmi G Kava, Student Welfare Officer, joined their hands in  inaugurating this programme, students, teachers, and non-teaching staff all came together to celebrate. The highlight of the event was the chande music, which everyone enjoyed immensely, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the festivities

Naguvinali Aarogya Hasya Karyakrama 

On 26th March, 2024, MMK and SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysore, Student Welfare Committee organized an entertainment programme ‘NAGUVINALI AAROGYA HASYA KARYAKRAMA’ for all the second year students. Sri. G K Shankar, renowned Senior Stage Artist, Rangabhoomi, was invited as resource person, and rendered various programmes of laughter and insightful wisdom. G K Shankara's humorous performance was not only entertaining but also served as a celebration of the beauty of the Kannada language. He skillfully uplifted the essence of the language, captivating the audience with his linguistic prowess. 

Prof. Sainath Malligemadu, Principal MMK and SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysore, in presidential speech, underscored the significance of comedy beyond mere entertainment. He highlighted how comedy serves as a tonic for the soul, rejuvenating both the body and mind. According to him, indulging in laughter not only promotes inner health but also infuses individuals with youthful energy and vitality.

In this session Smt. Bharathi N, Vice Principal, Smt. K.S Sukrutha, IQAC Coordinator, Smt. Jyothilakshmi G Kava, Student Welfare Officer, Student Welfare Committee members, teaching and non teaching staff, graced the occasion and made this programme a grand success. 

Winners in Inter Collegiate Fest 

Aishwarya M.K. and Pragnya M.V. of III B.Com. 'B', MMK & SDM Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Mysore won the Second Prize in "Escape Room Event" in Vidwath 2K24 State Level Inter Collegiate Biztech Extravaganza Fest organised by Vidyavardhaka First Grade College, Mysore on 22nd and 23rd March 2024. 

Interdisciplinary Lecture Programme 

On 26.3.2024- Smt.Ramya S K, Associate Professor of Computer Science delivered an INTERDISCIPLINARY LECTURE for III BSC - PC students on the topic DIGITAL LITERACY . The session introduced the benefits of digital literacy which included 8 elements of digital literacy such as Cultural,Cognitive, Constructive, Communicative, Confident, Creative, Critical & Civic. If the students are digitally literate in this Digital Era , they can improve themselves in the above mentioned aspects and overall impact of the session is that, the students were made aware of how in the present day Digital Literacy paves a path towards economic empowerment.

Visit to Zilla Panchayat 

March 26, 2024, a delegation from the Commerce and Management department, comprising faculty members Sri Niranth M R (Assistant Professor of Business Administration), Sri Mahadevswamy S (Assistant Professor of Commerce), and Smt Harshitha Mallik (Assistant Professor of Commerce), along with six students from all three years of the BCOM program, visited the Zilla Panchayat. During their visit, they engaged with Zilla Panchayat CEO Smt Gayathri K M, I A S, and delved into various critical issues such as:Swachh Bharat Mission, MGNREGA, Solid Waste Management etc. The purpose of this interaction was to understand the ground realities, assess the hurdles faced by the Zilla Panchayat in implementing various schemes, and work collaboratively toward effective solutions for the benefit of the local population. 

Pick and Speak competition 

The Management Club of MMK and SDM MMV, Mysuru organized a Pick and Speak competition at the college on March 26, 2024. The event aims to  provide students with a platform to showcase their intellectual abilities and public speaking skills. Smt.Harshita Mallik, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce, served as the judge for the event. The successful execution of the competition underscores the club's commitment to nurturing a culture of intellectual curiosity and debating prowess. 

Inaugural Function of Mathematics Club - MATHLETES

The Mathematics club -  MATHLETES of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya held its Inaugural function on 22nd March 2024 at 3pm, marking a significant milestone in promoting mathematical literacy and fostering a passion for mathematics among students. 

Smt. Chaitra N, Head & Assistant professor of Mathematics presented an introductory speech and called all together to embark on a new journey of discovery, exploration and celebration of the fascinating world of mathematics through this club.

The Inaugural address was delivered by Prof. K. Shivashankara, Professor, Yuvaraja's College, University of Mysore, Mysore who emphasized the importance of mathematics and also suggested many club activities which in turn help the students to crack competitive exams. The profound impact of mathematics and it shapes the understanding of the world around us, Mathematics permeates every aspect of our lives, from the mundane to the extraordinary was the remarks delivered by President of the function Prof. Sainath Malligemadu, Principal, MMK & SDM MMV.

The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the Mathematics club's mission and vision, outlining its goals and objectives in promoting mathematical literacy, organizing educational workshops and participating in regional and national mathematics competitions.

Smt. Bharati N, Vice-Principal and Smt. Sukrutha K S, IQAC Coordinator and Smt. Pallavi Angadi, assistant professor of Mathematics, and other faculty members were present.

Campus Cleaning Programme

The campus cleaning program was organized by Science & Nature Club, Youth Red Cross, National Service Scheme, and Rangers of the MMK and SDM MMV on March 23, 2024 at 9:30 AM. This initiative aimed to promote cleanliness and hygiene within the college campus, involving 45 students from different student  organizations to actively participate in cleaning activities. The sub staff assisted the students.The program likely included activities such as collecting litter, cleaning the surroundings, and raising awareness about the importance of cleanliness and sanitation. Such initiatives play a crucial role in fostering a clean and healthy environment for both students and the community.

3 Days Dry Waste Drive

NSS Unit in association with Science and Nature Club jointly organized a 3 Days Dry Waste Drive from 25th March 2024 to 27th March 2024.  This drive was presided over by Smt. Bharati N, Vice-principal. MMK & SDM MMV. Sri. Pandu S, program coordinator, ITC,WOW CSR program, Mysore was invited as a chief guest. This program was inaugurated by watering the sapling by dignitaries on the dias. In presidential speech Ma’am talked about the impact of dry waste on living things, the environment, marine species and also on our planet. After the presidential speech, the chief guest, in his speech, explained about the amount of dry waste produced everyday, the procedure to follow to reduce and manage dry waste and how organizations are working on managing dry wastes.

World Water Day

On 22nd march 2024, NSS unit of MMK & SDM MMV celebrated World Water Day. NSS Volunteers prepared Water bowls made up of waste water bottles with strings to hang on trees for the birds and squirrels to satisfy their thirst. This programme was presided over by Prof. Sainath Malligemadu, Principal. Principal sir watered the bowls placed on the trees. This Program was coordinated by Smt. Anitha P Jayaram, NSS Coordinator. The program provided a message for students on the importance of water to be placed in the pots for relieving the thirst of birds during summer. Ms. Bhargavi HG, MS. Prathima M and NSS Volunteers took part in this program.

Embarking on Ethical Journeys: Insights from Mrs. Geetha Montadka 

On March 22, 2024, Mrs. Geetha Montadka, a Senior Artist at Rangayana, Mysore, led a seminar on Behavior Concepts, Character Development, and Ethical Values. With 91 students in attendance, along with home management coordinators and members, the event fostered lively discussions. Mrs. Montadka's eloquence and extensive experience captivated the audience as she explored the intricate interplay of behavior, character, and ethics. Through relatable examples, she highlighted the significance of self-awareness, empathy, and integrity. The interactive session encouraged introspection among participants. Mrs. Montadka's insights resonated, leaving a lasting impact on perspectives. Attendees departed with newfound purpose and ethical clarity. The seminar served as a platform for intellectual discourse and personal growth. With Smt. Montadka's guidance, participants embarked on a journey of self-discovery and ethical awareness.

Stress Management, Child Psychology upbringing of Children 

A special session on "Stress Management, Child Psychology upbringing of Children" was held on March 23rd, 2024, for the students studying Home Management. Dr. Raveesh B N Professor & HOD, Dept. of Psychiatry ,Mysore Medical College & Research Centre & Former Director of DIMHANS, shared some really helpful tips. He talked about different kinds of stress and how they affect our minds and bodies. Dr. Raveesh stressed the importance of finding a balance between work and personal life, suggesting things like setting limits, managing time well, and taking care of ourselves. He also gave practical advice on how to handle stress better. Everyone was encouraged to figure out what makes them stressed and find ways to deal with it. The event was a success thanks to the hard work of Sri. B. N. Maruthi Prasanna, the Home Management Coordinator, and faculty members Ms. Kavya S. N. and Ms. Sandhya S 

Entrepreneurship Opportunities for Aspiring Entrepreneurs 

The Department of Commerce organized a one day workshop in MMK & SDM MMV on the topic  "Entrepreneurship Opportunities for Aspiring Entrepreneurs" in association with MSME(Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises) - Development & Facilitation Office and EduKare ITES on March 21 for final year B. Com students.

Session 1 was led by Mr. Shashi Kumar. M, Deputy Director, MSME Development & Facilitation Office, Government of India on the topic "Entrepreneurship Awareness Program". He explained about the govt. scheme, benefits about the scheme to start up with a new business etc.

Session 2 was led by Smt. Rachana Mahesh, Founder of EduKare ITES, on the topic " How to become an Entrepreneur". She explained what are the opportunities available to start up a company and what are the procedures to follow for a start up etc. 

Prof. Sainath Malligemadu, Principal, MMK & SDM MMV, presided over the session. Mr. Prashanth Jain H. V. HOD of Commerce , Mr. Syed Sadath and Ms. Sandhya. S, Co - Ordinator's of the program and Department of Commerce faculties, were presented.

Entrepreneurship Hub Inauguration 

An inaugural session of Entrepreneurship Hub was held in association with TiE(The Indus Entrepreneurs), Mysore Chapter, Mysore on 25/03/2024 for all final year UG students in MMK & SDM MMV.

Dr. Mahesh Roa, CEO, Aashaya design solutions & President, TiE, Mysore Chapter, who was the chief guest of the programme informed students to practice three P's (i.e. Patience, Passion & Perseverance) which will help them to curate the idea of their own. Smt Vaishali Hanumanthu, Managing Partner, DRC cinemas, who was the Guest of Honour, made a mention saying family support and confidence will take any individual to the desired destination of their choice.

Prof Sainath Malligemadu, Principal who presided the event said that schemes such as Start up India, MSME and many have provided the platform to upskill and make a better living of your own, which the 60s generation did not find a platform to succeed in entrepreneurship and he also made a mention rather than maintaining someone else’s account, you can start your own business and hire people to manage your accounts  Smt K S Sukrutha, HoD Dept of Computer Science and IQAC coordinator, Sri Niranth M R, Entrepreneurship Hub coordinator, Sri Mahadevswamy, member, Dr Chaitanya Pandit, member, Miss Kavya S N, member and students of III BBA, III BCOM A&B, III BSC & III BCA were present on the event.

Old Age Home Visit 

An old age home visit to Belaku Vatsalya Dhama, Srirampura, Mysore was organized by NSS Unit, MMK & SDM MMV, Mysore on 21/03/2024. The NSS Volunteers participated in various cultural programmes organized for old age residents. Mr. Pradeep, advocate, one of the members of old age home administration, addressed the gathering and briefed about the Belaku Vatsalya Dhama. Smt. Anitha P Jayaram, NSS Coordinator, Smt. Hema N S, NSS member and 37 NSS Volunteers visited Belaku Vatsalya Dhama old age home. 

Soft skills and Personality development 

A session on “Soft skills and Personality development” was conducted on 21st March, 2024 for students enrolled in the Home Management course. The session was led by Dr. Lancy D'souza, Professor & HOD Dept, of Psychology, Maharaja’s College, University of Mysore. Dr. D'souza's expertise in communication skills and personality development resonated deeply with the attending students. Through interactive discussions and practical exercises, students were enlightened about the significance of effective communication in navigating today's competitive landscape. They explored various communication mediums, including verbal, non-verbal, written, and digital, gaining insights into enhancing their interpersonal connections.

The session also spotlighted the importance of time management, a skill crucial for academic success and personal growth. Dr. Dsouza's guidance on mastering time-saving techniques struck a chord with the students, empowering them to prioritize tasks and maintain a balanced lifestyle amidst their busy schedules. Special gratitude is owed to Dr. D'souza and the organizing team comprising Sri. B N Maruthi Prasanna, Co-ordinator, Home Management and members Ms. Kavya S N, Assistant professor of Computer Science and Ms. Sandhya S, Assistant Professor of Commerce and Management for making this enlightening event possible benefitting  105 students of III B.Com. And III BBA.

Disaster management program @SDMMMK MYSORE. 

On March 22, Rangers Unit and youth red cross  of MMK and SDM MMV, organised a disaster management program. The chief guest was Shri Purushottam, retired Lieutenant Commandant, Home guard and another speaker Sri Ajay Kumar Jain, District Commissioner of Scouts, Mysore, and the principal Prof. Sainath Malligemadu presided over the function. The coordinators of Rangers and YRC of SDM & MMK,  Smt Malathi and Mr. Syed Sadath were also present on the occasion.

More than 55 Students benefited from the program, the objective of a disaster management program is to minimize the impact of disasters on communities and to ensure a quick and efficient response and recovery. This involves preparing for disasters before they occur, responding effectively when they happen, and recovering and rebuilding afterward. Key goals include saving lives, reducing economic losses, and aiding in the rapid recovery of affected areas. It also focuses on building resilience within communities to withstand and recover from disasters.

Elocution competition at MMK and SDM MMV 

The Literary Committee of MMK & SDM MMV organized an Elocution competition in three languages (English, Hindi, Kannada) at the college level on 21st March 2024 on the topic “Social media is making us less social”, in the presence of Smt. Hajra Begum, coordinator of the Literary Committee. The event was organised by Ms. Vani, Assistant Professor, Department of English. The judges for the program were Smt. Pushpalatha, Head, Department of Hindi, Ms. Brunda R, Head, Department of English and Ms.Anitha H B, Assistant Professor, Department of Kannada.

The aim of the event is to help improve the public speaking skills and confidence in students and to encourage them to voice their opinions and ideas in an effective way. The platform provided an opportunity for the students to develop their skills and to express their ideas. 21 students participated in the event.

MMK and SDM students Won cash prize in Inter collegiate Quiz competition. 

Ms Nandini P, Ms Sonu C, of III year BSc BMBt and Ms Muktha Jain, Ms Nandini, Ms. Nuthana and Ms Rachana of II BSc BMBt participated in the ‘Intercollegiate Life Science Quiz-2024’- a quiz competition organized by School of Life Sciences, Pooja Bhagavat Memorial Mahajana Education Centre, PG wing, Metagalli, Mysuru on 20.03.2024. The quiz was organised as part of the National Science Day celebrations.

Ms. Nuthana and Ms Rachana of II BSc BMBt won second place in the quiz competition and received a cash prize of Rs. 4000/ -along with mementos. The college management and all the faculty members congratulated the winners.

INTERCLASS BRIDAL MAKEUP and HAIRSTYLE COMPETITION

The INTERCLASS BRIDAL MAKEUP and HAIRSTYLE COMPETITION at MMK SDM MMV, Mysore was organised by the Cultural Committee on February 27th, 2024 to explore the artistic talent in students. The students of UG exhibited their respective talents in the program. The judges were Ms. Sowmya N- Assistant Professor, Dept of Computer Science, Dr Chaitanya pandit, Assistant Professor, Dept of Biochemistry and Smt. Bhogeshwari, Assistant Professor, Dept of Business and Administration. 

The students were able to exhibit their creative skills and artistic talents like colour matching, blending technique etc. The bridal makeup gave artists the chance to create individualized looks in both traditional and modern styles. The bridal makeup included Marwadi style, Karnatic wedding style and Nepal wedding style. The contestants exhibited various types of bridal hairstyles. The winner of the competition was  Ms. Rajshree Gupta, III BBA.

INTERCLASS SINGING COMPETITION

The INTERCLASS SINGING COMPETITION at MMK SDM MMV, Mysore was organised by Cultural Committee MMK SDM MMV, Mysore on February 29 th , 2024 to explore, recognize and award the singing talent in students. The 44 students of UG from all streams exhibited their respective talents in the program. The judges were Smt Bharathi. N - Head, Dept of Physics; Smt Ramya - Associate Professor, Dept of Computer Science; Shri Srinivasa K L - Head, Department of Sanskrit, and Ms. Bhuvaneshwari, Assistant Professor, Dept of Indian Constitution . The participants performed and sung the songs in all the categories in their melodious voices.  They showed their mastery over voice modulation, pitch, rhythm and tone. The prizes were announced in Classical, Bhavageethe, Film hits and Folk categories. 

The winners of the competition in Classical singing are, Vanditha yaji, II BCom ‘A’ – I prize, Mahathi R and Pragnya M V III BCom ‘B’ – II prize, Ananya K R – III B Sc, BMBt– III prize.

The winners of Bhavageethe patana are, Mahathi R III BCom ‘B’ – I prize Vanditha yaji, II BCom ‘A’ – II prize and Ananya K R – III B Sc, BMBt– III prize respectively. 

The winners of the competition in Folk singing included Ambika N I BCom ‘A’ – I prize and Bhavani N B II BCA – II prize respectively. 

The winners of the competition in Film hits group were Sushma B and Team II BCA – I prize and film hits solo included Neha N, I B Com ‘B’ – I prize, Varsha M N III BCom ‘A’– II prize, Radhika N II B Sc, BMBt– III prize, Sushma B and Deekshitha V II BCA- consolation prizes respectively.

Interclass Quiz Competition

The Literary Committee of MMK & SDM MMV, organized a Quiz Competition on 14th March 2024. Smt. Pallavi Angadi, member of the committee organized the Quiz competitions in 3 rounds.

The Competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from 28 teams each team having a maximum of 2 students. The Competition was structured in 3 rounds with each round designed to test different aspects of knowledge and critical thinking skills. Top 3 teams were awarded places.

The Competition evaluated the knowledge of the participants within & beyond the academics, it measured their analytical ability, memory and general knowledge. Competition also provided a platform to test their intellect, learn from each other and celebrate the joy of learning.

National Pi Day

On account of National Pi day, the Department of Mathematics conducted an inter class Math memory competition for I, II & III B.Sc. Maths students. The competition aimed to develop critical thinking among students, to boost problem solving skills in them & to increase strategic, logical thinking. The quiz was conducted in two phases, First phase consisted of writing mathematical formulas and the second phase consisted of solving math puzzles.

The Competition enhanced the reasoning capacity of the students & motivated them to solve the problems proactively by which Problem solving skills are enhanced. Smt. Chaitra N, HOD & Smt. Pallavi Angadi, Assistant professor of Mathematics was present.

Career Guidance Programme

On 15/3/2024 Department of Computer Science had organized a Career Guidance Programme by Dr. Bibha Chaudhury, Professor, Disease Genomics, Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology(IBAB), Bengaluru to final year BCA students. She interacted with the students and gave details about the courses such as Masters in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics and Masters in Big Data Biology offered by the IBAB, Bangalore which students can pursue after their BCA. She also highlighted the scope and career opportunities after the completion of above said programmes.

Staff members of the Department were present. A total of 57 students were part of the programme.

MMK and SDM Students at Mysore Division level Rovers Rangers meet

18 Ranger Unit students of MMK and SDM MMV, participated in the Mysore Division level Rovers and Rangers meet held at Sri K Puttaswamy First Grade College, Mysore on 16th March 2024. Consumer Rights Awareness Jatha

On 15th March 2024, the Legal Literacy Committee in association with the NSS unit of MMK and SDM MMV on occasion of Consumer Rights Day organized a Jaatha.

The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Sainath Malligemadu Principal. During the programme III BCom students presented a skit on awareness of consumer rights at Ramaswamy Circle and Near Smart Bazar, JLB Road, Mysuru.

The main objective was to promote and protect the interest of consumers against deficiency and defects in goods and services. Also, seeks to secure the rights of a consumer against unfair or restrictive trade practice. 64 students along with committee coordinators, Smt. Bhogeshwari, Legal Literacy committee, Smt. Anitha P Jayaram, NSS Unit and members participated in the Jaatha. 

Macbeth Play by students of MMK and SDM at Ujire

Students of MMK &SDM MMV, Mysore have staged the play “Macbeth” at a National Seminar on the topic “ Theatre Texts at Crossroads: East-West Encounter” organised by the Department of English, SDM College (Autonomous), Ujire on 16th March 2024. 

The drama was Directed by Ms. Brunda R, Head, Assistant Professor, Dept of English and was coordinated by Mrs. Ujwala Shetty, Assistant Professor, and co-coordinated by H.Vani, Assistant Professor, MMK & SDM College. 17 Students who were part of the team were accompanied by the faculty members of the Department of English. 

The Honourable Principal, Prof. Sainatha Malligemadu, MMK and SDM Mahila Maha Vidyalaya was invited as Chief Guest and honoured at the Valedictory function. The Principal was elated after watching the performance and had high praise for the drama team along with all the dignitaries present who highly appreciated the students’ and the faculty’s efforts.

VALEDICTORY PROGRAM OF NATIONAL CONFERENCE at MMK & SDM MMV, MYSURU

The two days National Conference on "Biochemistry- Emerging Science and Technology" themed on "Current Developments in Phytochemical Research and its Transdisciplinary Applications" organized in association with IBAB, Bangalore concluded with the valedictory function on 15th March. Prof S R Ramesh, CEO of Mahajana Education Society, was the Chief Guest and Dr Upendra Nongthomba, Chairperson of Developmental and Biomedical Genetics, IISC, Bengaluru, was the Guest of Honor. The program was presided by Prof Sainath Malligemadu, Principal of the college. 

Delivering his address Prof Ramesh mentioned that a scientific gathering of this nature provides a platform for collaboration for students and researchers from diverse areas which is key in research. Prof Sainath Malligemadu, in his presidential speech stressed upon the importance of advancing phytochemical research by providing experimental evidence to plant based therapeutic uses. 

The National conference received a good response with 150 participants attending the program. The participants included undergraduate, postgraduate students, research scholars and faculties from various institutions. The speakers who were invited for the conference were eminent scientists in the field of the topic from different parts of the country. Dr Upendra Nongthomba, Chairperson of Developmental and Biomedical Genetics, IISC, Bengaluru, Dr Asha Martin, Senior Principal Scientist, Dept of Biochemistry, CFTRI, Dr Subbarao V Madhunapantula, Professor, Dept of Biochemistry, JSSAHER, Mysuru, Dr Bibha Chaudhury, Professor, Disease genomics, IBAB, Bengaluru, Dr Dharmendra Kumar Khatri, Assistant Professor, Dept of Pharmacology and Toxicology, NIPER, Hyderabad, Dr Ashwini Godbole, Associate Professor, Ayurveda Biology, TDU, Bangalore were few of the scientists who delivered the lectures during the conference. In addition to the scientific sessions, oral and poster presentation competitions were also organized for the participants

INAUGURATION OF NATIONAL CONFERENCE at MMK & SDM MMV, MYSURU

MMK & SDM Mahila MahaVidyalaya, Mysuru, inaugurated their two days National Conference on "Biochemistry- Emerging Science and Technology" themed on "Current Developments in Phytochemical Research and its Transdisciplinary Applications" on 14th March. The Chief Guest for the function was Dr ThippeSwamy T, Rtd Joint Director, CSRTI, Mysore. Dr R P Singh, Chief Scientist, CSIR-CFTRI was the Guest of Honor. The program was Presided by Prof Sainath Malligemadu, Principal of the college. 


Addressing the gathering, Dr Thippeswamy mentioned that plants, fruits and vegetables are a treasure trove of phytochemicals that have numerous health benefits. He said phytochemical research is rightly at its peak as if explored and evaluated properly, it can be the solution for numerous health problems today including cancer. Dr R P Singh in his keynote address also  discussed in detail about the various health benefits of pomegranate fruit and its peel. Prof Sainath Malligemadu in his presidential remarks opined that by providing scientific basis to the traditionally used plants and herbs newer and better treatment solutions can be provided.

Code Hunt - Interclass Coding Competition 

The Department of Computer Science in association with Tech Amateur IT Club had organized an interclass  Coding Competition “Code Hunt” for the enrolled students of BCA and BSc Computer Science on 13/3/2024.

The objective of coding competition is to think logically and develop the solution to the problem given using the C  programming language. Here the students play the role of not only the programmer but also as designer and tester of their own code which enhances their creativity, logical thinking and help them to become an efficient coder in future. By participating in such competitions students can become more proficient in coding languages and can build programs on their own which induces their self-confidence to become a good software developer.

A total of 41 students took part in the Code Hunt competition and Ms Varshini M of II BCA won the competition.

Guest lecture Programme on "Amazon Web Services" 

On 06/03/2024, Mr.Bhaskar Yadav, AWS certified Trainer , ICT Academy , Chennai, delivered a guest lecture on AMAZON WEB SERVICES to I BSC, II BSC and III BSC computer science students organized by Department of Computer Science in association with ICT Academy. The objective of organizing this guest lecture program is to expose the students to Cloud Technology which is one of the requirements for the present IT world. During the session , the students came to know about the concepts of client server technology, cloud, basics of AWS, its services and applications of Amazon Web. The resource person also demonstrated the process for the AWS certification through the console and also briefed about the importance of AWS certification, different levels of certification and to what extent the companies are in need of AWS certificated cloud analysts.

Ms. Bhoomika of II B Sc welcomed the gathering and comeared the programme, Ms Harshini B L Gowda of II B Sc introduced the resource person, Ms Syeda Roshini of III B Sc rendered vote of thanks. Smt K S Sukrutha, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Computer Science, Smt Ramya S K , Associate Professor of Computer Science and ICT Coordinator and other staff members of the department were present on the occasion. Consumer awareness skit by Commerce students 

On account of World Consumer Right Day, The Department of Commerce organised 'A consumer awareness skit' which was performed by commerce students at Ramaswamy circle.

 

As the skit is exclusively for social benefit, through this performance the students spread the information regarding consumer awareness and their rights by taking different examples and enacting the skit. Totally 15 students made a team and performed the skit. Webinar on "Robotic Process Automation" 

On 15/3/2024 - 144 students of  II BSC, III BSC Computer Science Students, II BCA and III BCA students attended a Webinar on the topic ROBOTIC PROCESS AUTOMATION organized by UIPATH in association with ICT ACADEMY. The session briefed on uses of RPA in Education, Supply Chain, IT, HR, Client Services, Accounting and Operations  and also regarding Automation Growth and Prospects . The session helped students to know about how robots save employees time .The resource person for the session was Mr. Mukesh Kala, Lead, UIPATH Delhi Chapter, RPA Manager at Boundaryless Group. 

Home Management session on "Gardening and Terrace Gardening" 

A session on "Gardening and Terrace Gardening" was conducted on March 14, 2024, for Home Management students at MMK and SDM MMV. Led by Mr. N. Keshava Murthy, Programme Executive, Akashavani, Mysore, emphasized gardening as a pathway to lasting happiness. Urban gardening, including terrace gardening, was highlighted, showcasing its potential to connect with nature and provide fresh produce even in limited spaces. The benefits discussed ranged from physical health to mental well-being, with gardening cited as a tool to combat diseases, reduce stress, and foster human connections. Various techniques like vertical gardening and hydroponics were explored, along with essential concepts such as pot culture and fertilization. The organizing team, including Sri. B. N. Maruthi Prasanna and faculty members were commended for their efforts in making the event a success for 166 students. 

Family Values and Value Education

On March 6, 2024, a home management session on "Family Values and Value Education" was conducted at the college auditorium. The session was graced by the presence of Professor Morabada Mallikarjuna, Director of Publication Division at JSS Vidyapeeta, Mysore, who served as the resource person for the event. Principal Prof Sainath Malligemadu explained the initiatives for the introduction of home management courses.  Additionally, Bharthi N, Vice Principal and Maruthi Prasanna ,Home management coordinator, also graced the occasion, adding value to the discussion.

The session delved into the significance of family values and their role in shaping individuals and society at large. Professor Mallikarjuna, with his extensive expertise in the field, provided valuable insights and practical approaches to inculcating strong family values. Discussions revolved around the challenges faced in modern times and strategies to overcome them through value-based education. A total of 115 individuals attended the session, including participants from various departments and interests.  

Best out of Waste and Waste Management

A home management session took place in MMK and SDM MMV on 7th March 2024, focusing on the topic of "Best out of Waste and Waste Management". The session was led by Sri H V Murulidhar, a retired Head Master and resource person from the Department of Public Education, Mysore.

During the session, participants engaged in hands-on activities such as crafting with waste materials. The main objectives were to educate attendees about waste management practices and promote creative reuse of materials. Through practical demonstrations and discussions, participants gained insights into responsible waste management and learned how to repurpose waste items into useful or decorative items.

International Women's Day Celebration at MMK & SDM MMV Organized by Ratnamanasa Hiriya Vidyarthiniyara Sanga (R)

On March 9th, 2024, the Ratnamanasa Hiriya Vidyarthiniyara Sanga (R) from MMK & SDM MMV organized a vibrant celebration in honor of International Women's Day. The event, held at the college, saw an esteemed line-up of guests and speakers who shared insights and inspiration on the occasion.

The chief guest for the event was Smt. Rashmi Chandrashekar, the proprietor of Hotel Royal Blue Mysore, who graced the occasion with her presence. She delivered a poignant address, emphasizing the significance of Women's Day and its relevance in contemporary society. Accompanying her were distinguished guests of honor, each bringing their unique perspectives to the celebration. Smt. Smitha Ajay, Lead Consultant at Infosys, Mysore, highlighted the strides made in women's empowerment and spoke about the pathways to its success.

Another guest of honor, Prof. Sainath Malligemadu, the Principal of MMK & SDM MMV, shared his thoughts on the power of women and their indispensable role in shaping the world. His words resonated deeply with the audience, inspiring reflection and admiration. The event was further dignified by the presence of Smt. Maheshwari Shwetha RC, Principal Consultant at Infosys, Mysore, who presided over the gathering, lending her expertise and support to the cause.

Additionally, Smt. Chaitra N, Coordinator of the Alumni Association, and Smt. Sukrutha K S, IQAC Coordinator, was also present, further enriching the event with their participation.

Following the formal proceedings, the committee had organized fun games, which were enthusiastically embraced by both teaching and non-teaching staff. The spirit of fellowship came together to honor and appreciate the invaluable contributions of women in all spheres of life.

MMK and SDM MMV College magazine "Hamsadhwani - 2022-23" released and received recognition at university competition.

The annual college magazine "Hamsadhwani - 2022-23" of MMK and SDM MMV was released by SDME Society president and Dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, Padma Vibhushan, Poojya Dr. D Veerendra Heggadeji. The blessings of Lord Manjunatha Swamy and Poojya Heggadeji led to a marvelous reward for the college magazine in winning second place with Rs. 8000/- in the Magazine competitions conducted by the University of Mysore. 

This annual publication is a testament to the creativity, intellect, and passion of fellow students. The talented students have poured their hearts into this edition, sharing their poems, essays, artwork, and thought-provoking articles. The college management congratulates the contributors, editorial team and the faculty advisors for their dedication.

IQAC Meeting at MMK and SDM MMV 

The college's Internal Quality Assurance cell meeting was conducted on 9th March under the chairmanship of the principal of the college. The cell has discussed various agendas seeking permission from the highest body for the development of college. And also given permission for some of the agenda implemented during the academic year in urgency without the approval of the IQAC. 

The external members Dr. B H Suresh, Prof of commerce from University of Mysore, Dr. H S Nagendra swamy, Prof of Computer Science, University of Mysore, Smt. Smitha Devaiah, Advocate, a local member of the body, Presidents of PTA, Alumni association and student council were present.

In the beginning, minutes of the previous meeting and Action Taken Report were submitted by the IQAC coordinator Smt.Sukrutha K S. The distinguished members have given various suggestions and feedback for the quality enhancement of the college. Smt. Ramya S K, Assistant Professor of CS welcomed the gathering,  Dr. Wethro Kapfo, HoD of the Biochemistry department  rendered the vote of thanks and Smt. Brunda R, HoD of the English Department led the Master of ceremony.

Book Exhibition to Celebrate International Women’s Day

The department of Library of MMK and SDM MMV organized an exhibition  on 9/03/2024 on the account of International Women’s day celebration by exhibiting the books on women who have excelled

in their respective fields. Biographies of authors, freedom fighters, scientists, sports women, Musicians and others were displayed. Literature related to women was also displayed on the occasion. Students were exposed to the books on women who have excelled in their field through their hard work and dedication.

Essay writing competition

The Literary committee of MMK and SDM MMV has conducted essay writing competitions in 3 languages (Kannada, English and Hindi) at college level on 07th March 2024 on the topic "How robots will replace human jobs" . The Essay Competitions helped in Fostering Critical Thinking, Research Skills, and Academic Growth among Students and helped them to analyze the Implications of Increasing Automation and showcase their talents about “The Shift from Human to Robot Labor in the Modern Workplace”. During the programme, Smt. Hajra Begum, Literary committee coordinator, Sri. Srinivas Karanth K L, Member of literary committee and organizer of the programme were present. 

Sports event for NSS volunteers 

On 05/03/2025, NSS unit of MMK and SDM MMV, Smt. Anitha P Jayaram, NSS program officer and 47 NSS volunteers attended a sports event organized  by university NSS unit on account of International Women's Day celebration 2024 which was held at Chamundi Vihar stadium, Nazarbad. NSS volunteers participated in various sports like throwball, basketball penalty shootout and athletics. Ms. Monisha of I BCom  bagged 3rd prize in the 100 mtr running competition. 

Poetry Competition 

The Literary Committee of MMK and SDM MMV organized a Poetry Competition on the topic "Mother" in all languages like English, Kannada and Hindi for all stream students. The competition articulated Awareness of the relationship between the individual work and enabled students to present their own literary work and the work to others in a public forum with the ability to bring the return word to life for an audience. Sri Maruti Prasanna, assistant professor, department of Kannada and Smt. Ujjwala. S. Shetty department of English were the judges for the programme. 

Participated in Inter college seminar 

SDM MMK college students  Miss Nirma V and Miss Sreejitha R from I B.Sc, and Miss Neethu P and Miss Chandana U D from III B.Sc, accompanied by Miss Niharika V Jain, Assistant Professor of Physics attended a one-day seminar on March 7, 2024, focusing on "Nuclear Energy and Its Potential" organized by St Philomena college, Mysuru. The seminar provided a platform to delve into the vast potential of nuclear energy, highlighting its significance and applications in the contemporary world. 

Ranger Unit Volunteers participation in Pulse Polio Program

Fifteen Ranger unit volunteers of MMK and SDM MMV rendered their services on the occasion of Pulse polio program in association with Family and urban health centre, Mysore on 3/3/2024. The service was provided in various areas like Sharadadevi Nagar, kuvempunagar, Gnanaganga school, Akshay bhandar, Mysuru. The dedication and active participation of these volunteers significantly contributed to the success of the Pulse Polio program.

Alumni Interaction Program

An Alumni Interaction Program for III BBA Students was organized on 4th March 2024 on the topic " Corporate Culture - Challenges and Opportunities". Alumni Smt. Deepika G, Assistant Manager at Infosys Bangalore gave inputs to students regarding the Challenges and Opportunities for enrichment of their career in the Corporate Sector. 

The programme focused on improvement of personal, physical and mental well-being which included topics like a supportive work environment leading to productivity and satisfaction, exposure to new productivity, setting boundaries in work-life and embracing the art of time blocking. The programme was organized by Smt. Vidya M R Assistant Professor Dept of Business Administration.

Blood Donation Camp at MMK and SDM MMV


On 1st March 2024, NSS unit organised a blood donation camp in Association with Jeevadhara Blood Bank, Mysore. Sri Lion Girish S E, Managing director of Jeevadhara blood bank was invited as a chief guest for the program. In his speech he mentioned that blood donation is a great donation and three lives can be saved by donating blood once. Also he mentioned that blood donation will eliminate the risk of heart attack. He also expressed his concern that the youth community should create Social awareness about blood donation.

Prof. Sainath Malligemadu, Principal, who presided over the program urged that the need of blood has been increased after the Corona period and as accident cases increase in stressful life there is a urgent need of blood. He also informed students to create awareness on the importance of blood donation in their home with their family members.During the camp 49 students have donated their blood.  Smt KS Sukrutha,IAQC Coordinator, Smt. MMK and SDM Volunteer in pulse polio campaign

Mysore March 04:  From youth red cross unit of MMK and SDM MMV , Bibi Fathima of final year BBA , a Youth Red Cross volunteer rendered  service as a volunteer in pulse polio campaign on March 03 from Morning 6:00 AM to evening 6:00 PM at an Anganwadi, Mandi mohalla  Mysore.

The objective of the Pulse Polio program, initiated by governments in collaboration with various organizations including the YRC (Youth Red Cross) volunteers, is to eradicate poliomyelitis (polio) by vaccinating all children under the age of five years against the polio virus.
