The Annual Day 2025 celebrations at MMK and SDM MMV, Mysore took place on April 29, 2025, with enthusiastic participation from students, staff, and non-staff members. Organized by the Student Welfare Committee under the guidance of Student Welfare Officer Smt Jyothi Lakshmi Kava, the event saw active involvement from student representatives and office bearers.
During the formal proceedings, Prof. Bharathi N, Principal of the degree college, presented the Annual Report 2024-25, highlighting the institution’s rankings, reputation, and achievements. She acknowledged major milestones in academics, such as International Webinars, National Seminars, Workshops, and Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), along with the institution’s add-on courses, certification programs, and departmental clubs. She also commended the notable achievements of staff and students.
The Chief Guest, Prof. N Nagaraja, Registrar of Evaluation, University of Mysore, emphasized the importance of setting measurable, realistic, and achievable goals, seizing opportunities, and thinking differently to excel in life. He encouraged students to step out of their comfort zones, make wise decisions, and develop positive strategies to stay competitive. Meanwhile, the Guest of Honour, Dr. Sadanand K S, Professor of Cardiologist and Medical Superintendent, Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular sciences and Research, Mysuru, stressed the role of health in personal success and promoted the SMART strategy (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) for personal and professional growth. The event was further graced by PU Principal, Professor Nayana Kumari, and IQAC Coordinator, Smt K S Sukrutha, who provided encouragement to students.
The highlight of the event was the prestigious awards for the year 2024-25. Ms. Nisarga Mahesh (III B.Com) was recognized as the Best Outgoing Student, while Ms. Bhanupriya received the Best Sports Person award. On April 27, 2025, a Home Management session on "Self-Defense and Women’s Protection" was conducted by Sosale Siddaraju, an international player and founder of Naga Martial Arts Academy, Mysore, alongside G. Sudhakar, an AKF referee from Mysore. The event was attended by Coordinator Sri Maruti Prasanna and Smt. Namratha D.
The session began with an introduction by the instructor, highlighting the importance of situational awareness and remaining calm under pressure. Before teaching physical techniques, he guided participants on recognizing threats, avoiding dangerous situations, and using their voice as a primary defense tool. On April 16, 2025, MMK & SDM MMV Library in Mysore hosted a Book Review Competition, encouraging students to engage in critical reading and literary analysis. Participants reviewed books by various authors in both Kannada and English, fostering reading habits and enhancing analytical thinking.
A total of 10 students took part, presenting well-crafted reviews that evaluated the themes, writing styles, and impact of the books. The Legal Literacy Committee of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya organized an insightful guest lecture on Cyber Security on 26th April 2025. The session was led by Smt. Shilpa A G, Additional Senior Judge and Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mysore, who served as the resource person for the event. On 17/04/25 the Entrepreneurial Hub of MMK and SDM MMV organized a guest lecture program on the topic "Why not entrepreneurship? Self reliance is the key".
Ms Lavanya N, CEO & Founder of Samparkisu was the resource person of the programme who informed students about the importance of freelancing which helps them to build their skills parallely along with their formal education. This will help them to retain their confidence and boosts their ability to achieve their desired goals in days to come.

Career Guidance and Placement Cell of MMK and SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, recently organized a campus placement drive in collaboration with R Process Outsourcing Services Pvt Ltd and Indian Capital Finance. The event, attended by 163 final-year students, aimed to provide job opportunities and kickstart their careers.

On April 27, a Home Management session on "Rights of Women—With Special Reference to Property Rights" was conducted by Ms. Vineetha, Advisor at KLA School of Law, Tiptur. The event was attended by Coordinator Sri Maruti Prasanna and Smt. Namratha D.
The speaker emphasized the historical struggles of women in securing property rights, highlighting India's legal advancements aimed at ensuring equitable access. Despite these reforms, societal norms, gender biases, and financial constraints still pose significant challenges. Lack of awareness and administrative hurdles further hinder women from fully exercising their property rights, particularly in rural and marginalized communities.
Students gained insights into the critical role property ownership plays in women's economic independence and social empowerment. It provides security, enhances their influence within families, and opens doors to credit and economic opportunities.
Achievers Day at MMK and SDM MMV
The Achievers Day celebration, an initiative by IQAC, took place on April 25, 2025, at MMK and SDM MMV, Mysore, under the supervision of Student Welfare Committee Officer Smt. Jyothi Lakshmi Kava. The event honored students' hard work and determination in honing their talents.

MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Krishnamurthypuram, Mysuru, organized a State Level Virtual Five-Days Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) from 15th to 19th April 2025. On 19th of April 2025, a Home Management session was organized on the topic "Investment and Decision Making" by resource person Sri Shivabeerappa, Assistant Professor, HOD Department of Business Administration, MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya.
The speaker discussed how investments, from stocks to infrastructure, drive growth at both macro and micro levels. Balancing risk and return is crucial. Individuals invest to secure financial futures, combat inflation, and grow wealth through compound interest and capital gains, as saving alone may not suffice.

A Home Management Session was Organized on the topic "Nutrition Myths Busted : What's Really True?" at MMK and SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, by the resource Person Ms. Madhuri D Shekar, Nutritionist, Mysore on 19th of April 2025.
Speaker highlighted that nutrition is the foundation of good health and overall well-being. Students learnt that poor nutrition can lead to a variety of health problems. In the short term, it may cause fatigue, low concentration, and mood swings. Over time, unhealthy eating habits can lead to serious chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and certain cancers. In conclusion,the Speaker highlighted that nutrition plays a critical role in shaping our health, energy levels, and quality of life. A nutritious diet supports physical and mental development, protects against illness, and helps people live longer, more active lives.

On 19/4/2025 the department of Computer Science organized an Alumni Faculty Programme for I B.Sc Students on the topic "Graphs in Data Structures" by Smt Savitha M M, Assistant Professor of Computer Science, Christ College, Mysore. A total of 41 students were benefitted. The Programme was organized by Nayana M P, Assistant Professor of Computer Science. On 12th April 2025, the NSS unit of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, in association with Clearmedi Multispeciality Hospital, Mysuru, organized a General Health Check-up Camp. The camp was held for the benefit of all staff members and parents attending the Parent-Teacher Meeting.
Basic health parameters such as blood pressure and blood sugar levels were checked during the camp. The program was presided over by Prof. Bharathi, Principal of the institution.

On the 5th of April 2025, a Home Management Session was held on the theme "Thought Leader Leads to Happy Life." The session was conducted by Dr. Devaki K. K., Head of the Postgraduate Department of Commerce at MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysore. Dr. Devaki emphasized key traits essential for effective leadership, including character and integrity, positive communication, and a commitment to continuous learning. She elaborated on the core qualities that define great leaders, such as visionary thinking, emotional intelligence, decisiveness, adaptability, integrity, and effective communication.
In her presentation, Dr. Devaki described leadership as a dynamic and multifaceted concept that transcends industries, cultures, and eras. She explained that leadership is not merely about holding a position of authority; it encompasses influence, responsibility, and the ability to inspire others toward a shared goal. The significance of effective leadership has grown exponentially in today's fast-paced and interconnected world.
The session witnessed an attendance of 252 students, all of whom benefited greatly from the insights provided. Sri B. N. Maruthi Prasanna, the Coordinator of the Home Management session, and Mrs. Rajarajeshwari R., a member of the Home Management team, were also present at the event.
On the 6th of April 2025, a Home Management Session was conducted on the topic "Soft Skills: Interpersonal Relationships and Positive Attitude for a Happy Life." The session was delivered by Dr. Hemachandra, Associate Professor in the Postgraduate Section of the Department of Geography at Maharani College, Mysore. During the presentation, Dr. Hemachandra emphasized that interpersonal relationships, ranging from familial and friendly connections to professional bonds, serve as the cornerstone of human interaction and emotional well-being. He highlighted that strong relationships have the potential to enhance mental health, alleviate stress, and contribute to better physical health.
However, Dr. Hemachandra acknowledged that building and maintaining these bonds can be challenging, with common obstacles including poor communication, time constraints, and unresolved conflicts. He stressed the importance of essential elements such as trust, respect, open communication, and clear boundaries, noting that relationships thrive when these factors are present. The speaker further elaborated on how small actions, like sending a thoughtful message, engaging in honest conversations, or simply being present for someone, can have a profound impact. Dr. Hemachandra concluded by emphasizing that interpersonal relationships not only constitute a part of our lives but also shape them profoundly.
The session was attended by a total of 188 students, who greatly benefited from the insights shared. The event also witnessed the presence of Sri B. N. Students of the BCA program from MMK and SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya excelled at the intercollegiate fest "Sparktechthra - 2025 - PARAM," organized by JSS College for Women, Mysuru and proudly secured the overall championship for the college. Their outstanding achievements included Ms. Rachana and Ms. Vaishnavi of 3rd BCA won 1st place in the Poster Presentation event, while Ms. Lavanya and Ms. Yashaswini of II BCA B claimed the 1st prize in the Start-Up (Shark Tank) event. Additionally, Ms. Mahima and Ms. Aishwarya K earned the 2nd prize in the Quiz competition, and Ms. Lavanya from II BCA B secured 2nd place in the Pick and Speak event. Further accomplishments included Ms. Aishwarya K of III BCA winning 3rd place in the Gaming competition, Ms. Varsha of II BCA B securing 3rd place in the Reels Making event, Team Sparkle from II BCA A achieving 3rd place in the Group Dance competition, and Ms. Soundarya Kakade winning 3rd place in the Solo Dance competition.

An Institutional visit to Central Sericultural Research and Training Institute, Central Silk Board, Srirampura, Mysuru was organized for final year and First year B Sc (BMBt) Life sciences students (48) by the Department of Biotechnology, MMK and SDM MMV, Mysuru on 5th April 2025.
The program coordinator was Mr. Abhishek S, Asst Prof Biotechnology Dept. The participants witnessed the mulberry sericulture related rearing equipment, machines, products and acquired the knowledge of technologies explained by Dr. Mahesh R, Scientist, CSRTI. The major emphasis on research focussed in Genetic enhancement of Mulberry through Genomic approaches, Evaluation of improved mulberry genotypes for yield potential, nutrient uptake and nitrogen use efficiency under varied cultivation practices, development of biofertilizer for crop management and growth etc were thoroughly explained to the participants by Scientist Dr.Madhusudan and research scholars namely Ms. Joyce Rani Dasari, Ms Prarthana of CSRTI.

On April 4th, 2025, the Departments of Biotechnology and Commerce at MMK and SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, organized a special interdisciplinary activity under the IQAC initiative. The event comprised a special lecture on the Basmati Rice case study and an interdepartmental MCQ competition. It was attended by 61 students from B Sc Life Sciences and 33 students from II B Com ‘A’ and ‘B.’ The session was graced by the presence of Prof Bharathi N, Principal, and Smt Sukrutha K S, IQAC Coordinator. The program coordinators were Sri Prashanth Jain H V, HoD of Commerce, and Dr. Shwetha S, HoD of Biotechnology, while the resource person was Ms. Swathi Sharma, a practicing Company Secretary and Assistant Professor at JSS Law College, Mysuru. During the lecture, participants gained valuable knowledge about Geographical Indication, intellectual property, and the patent dispute surrounding Basmati rice. The event concluded with the MCQ competition, where prizes were awarded to the winners, emphasizing the significance of intellectual property rights across various domains
On April 4th, 2025, the department of Business Administration of MMK and SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya organized a one-day workshop titled "Team Building Activities" for all BBA students. The program took place in the auditorium and was conducted by Ms. Sapna Sweervi.H and Mr. Pruthvi.H.K, Zumba instructor and dance choreographer from Mysore. A total of 88 students participated in the workshop.
The event focused on team-building activities aimed at improving communication, enhancing collaboration, boosting morale, increasing productivity, and strengthening team relationships. These efforts ultimately fostered a positive and effective environment among the participants.
On April 5th, 2025, the department of Business Administration of MMK and SDM Mahila Mahavidhyalaya organized a guest lecture program titled "Smart Investing: Building Wealth for the Future" for III BBA and III B.Com "B" students by Sri.K Anil Kumar, Branch manager, Stock Holding Corporation of India, Mysore. The lecture focused on key investment strategies, emphasizing the importance of regularly reviewing and adjusting investments based on market conditions and personal changes. Students were guided on how to optimize returns without taking unnecessary risks and understood that staying invested in the market for a longer duration leads to better returns.
