The extensive increase in life-science research data offers a variety of wonderful opportunities for the skilled scientific workforce, especially in the field of bioinformatics. Most of the life-science degree programs rarely taught the basics of bioinformatics hands-on. With this in focus, to fill the skill gap in the field of bioinformatics, the Department of Biotechnology, MMK and SDM College for Women, Mysuru in association with Global Association of Scientific Young Minds, Mysuru on March 19, 2019 has organized a one-day skill development workshop on Basics of Bioinformatics.

26 students from III Bt.B.M were benefited by the event and given very satisfactory feedback.

An industruial visit to Milk Dairy, Mysore was organised to the students of final year BtBM. Mrs Atiya Sameen and Mrs Rajarajeshwari, Department of Microbiology escorted the students on 8th March 2019

A Two day Workshop on Web Development Technologies was inaugurated by principal Prof Sainath Malligemadu, on 1st March 2019 organised by Department of Computer Science in association with Vedha Softech India Pvt. Ltd. , Mysore. Managing Director Smt Rukmini U R , staff members of the department and students were present on the occasion.

Mrs Atiya Sameen, HOD of Microbiology and Mrs wethroe Kapfo,HOD of Biochemistry attended one day National workshop on "Next Generation Probiotics" at CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru on 1st March 2019.

A guest Lecture on the topic "Cosmic rays" by Dr.Tippeswamy to the students of III BSc organised by Physics Department.
